Thanks so much Ruth!

Thanks so much Ruth!  Yeah....I just thought it was time ya know?  I assumed it would take a while to hear back anyway, but this agent emailed me the next morning and then called me from vacation!  She's really pumped about the ms and the subsequent stories I can write....so now I'm nervous and writing like crazy on the second book......but it's exciting!  Good luck with yours and keep us informed.....I don't think anyone who did a pitch has heard either way!!!!

JULES!!!!!!!!!

I'm so stoked for you girl.  I've been considering going shopping for an agent with my ms as well.

I'm with Ruth and Jules, I have yet to hear back from Ann Leslie.  I've been outlining subsequent books in my series and trying to work on ms #2 while reworking my R-ed Brief to function as a Bite.

Welcome, Tara.

Hi - Hopeful Newbie

Phew.. that was a lot to read.. finished up the first thread and found this one after a bit of searching..

:: waves hi :: I'm a newbie to this forum and the whole comm in general.. Only sent up a couple of posts.. working my way around. Laughing

I love and adore the Nocturne series!! It's so cool to see all of my fav authors.. I have the next two months of Noc on my TBR pile, plus tons of others. And I must download the new Bites..

A long time writer, but never published, I'm hoping to change it.. Working on a Bites now.. but still not sure if it got it all dark and sexy... with all the help I see everyone getting here. I hope to be included.. both on receiving and giving ends.

Hugs and support to all of you!!

Welcome Tara and Nikki!

It's an interesting forum, nice to see that more people are joining!  Welcome to you both!    Cool

Hey, has anyone out there read Lori Devoti's June Nocturne "Wild Hunt" yet?  I just finished, and it rocked!  Shapeshifters, Valkyries, and a lot of interesting world-building utilizing Norse mythology.  It's a terrific read!

I'm on to Pamela Palmer's "Dark Deceiver" next -- as soon as I can get time with everything going on here!  Her debut Nocturne a few months ago was very well done, so I'm looking forward to this one.

E-book readers

Wanted to ask you guys a question.  I'm ashamed to say I haven't read any of the Bites yet, even though I've purchased them.  I just don't have time to just sit in front of the computer and read them.  I am going to get an E-book reader, but don't know if one is better than the others.  Any suggestions??

after a little trouble and headaches with Adobe and their restrictions..

i went with the microsoft e-reader with all my new downloads.. and they're very easy to read with it.. keeps it all in a neat library... and I can download on, say a computer at work, without an extra charge..

enjoy!

The Microsoft eReader is definately the best option if you don't want to sit at the computer for extended stretches -- Adobe doesn't have the option of sticking in a bookmark when you want to take a break.

Hi Nikki,

I'm holding off on the Women of the Other World series for a few months.....I've heard from several people that it's great, but my TBR pile is too huge!

Aside from the Nocs I'm catching up on, I've borrowed the JR Ward series from a friend......am safe reading vampires right now because I'm not writing one!

Hello

Hello Vivi -- must say love and adore your books.. always a great read.. :)

Celtic - Ahh.. know what you mean by a TBR pile.. mine just got 2 more added.. sigh.. I am never caught up. I even have a future TBR pile of books that I need to catch up with after my main pile is read. I've yet to reach it.. lol.

The Otherworld series is definitely a plus..

I know what you mean about able to read vampires... I'm not writing them myself so I can indulge myself.. :)

Wish I had better news...

Got my rejection back today from Ann Leslie. Letter had some important points for me to consider should I get the heart to rework it again.

Good luck to the rest of the pitch contest winners! I'm sure you'll hear soon and hopefully you'll all get phone calls!

Kristina

Kristina,

Sorry on the R, but the good thing to come out of it is that she gave you useful feedback.

I know that you'll need to take some time to mourn (and probably eat some chocolate), but I hope that after that you'll re-work it and go ahead and send out to some agents to see if they can find a different home for it.

Writing a full MS is a lot of work, and you owe it to yourself to give it a try!    Cool

August's MEMBER OF THE MONTH

Kristina I'm sorry......but

Kristina I'm sorry......but like Celtic said...have your chocolate...maybe some wine.....and well, maybe another glass of wine and then take a long hard look at her comments....use them if you think it's the right thing to do and shop that baby.....Celtic is right..writing a full ms takes a lot of hard work, and well, you should pat yourself on the back that you've come this far.....on another note...when did you send it?  I think she's only had mine for three weeks.....I got a litte behind because of "life" and sent it two weeks later then I'd anticipated.....but, I'll be watching the mail!

J

Thank you

Thank you Nikki!!!!!

Hugs Kristina.  Rejection is hard.  But getting back at it is what is important.  Use Ann Leslie's comments, rework that, and see if you can either resubmit to her.

Jules, I sent mine off

Jules, I sent mine off right away. So about 7 weeks. Wine is already chilling since I had even worse news than the R today. Now all I need is chocolate and a babysitter!

Kristina

(((((Kristina)))))

Big hugs. Sorry about that R. Wine and chocolate are the perfect things! And Jules is right. Retool or edit if you need to and shop that MS somewhere else and/or work on your next Noc hopeful!

Hugs and support

Hugs and lots and lots of support to you, Kristina.. Wine and chocolate sounds fantastic.. I'm setting up a single cup of chocolate pudding myself.. needed something a little sweet to get me through the night..

Still.. you got wonderful feedback to work with.. That's a blessing and hope.. Keep at it. :: Hugs::

Major hugs for your R. Just that you were chosen to send it in and that she bothered to give you personalized advise says all by itself that you got what it takes. Take a deep breath and keep moving.

Ruth? Jules? Lissy? Any news yet? I'm flirting with six weeks myself.

Jeeez Louise, this is nerve wracking stuff.

Mandy

Is there a light at the end of this tunnel or do I just have tunnel vision from staring at the computer screen so long?

Hey Mandy, still no word

Hey Mandy, still no word but I sent mine a couple weeks later...she's had it for 3 weeks now.....guess I will have to wait longer to get the yay or  nay....but......this manuscript has snagged me my very own agent!  I made the decision yesterday and confirmed with her....and can't even tell you how excited I am!

Good luck to everyone else and I'm sure we're all pretzeled for each other!

Agents

Jules,  If Ann Leslie decides she wants your ms how does that work with your agent?

I'm going to submit to some agents this week, I've decided.  I was just curious how the current full in with Nocturne would be affected by signing on with an agent. (Thinking positively, here).

Mandy

Is there a light at the end of this tunnel or do I just have tunnel vision from staring at the computer screen so long?

Hey Mandy.....well, it won't

Hey Mandy.....well, it won't change anything other then the fact that I would have a professional sealing the deal so to speak....I have no clue about contracts and all that stuff.....good luck with your subs.......I think anyone who's planning beyond one or two books, it's in their best interest to have an advocate working for them that knows the business side of things inside and out.

Sadly, I'm out of the running as well. As the query is already out with a few agents I'll focus on that for now.

Oh I'm sorry to hear that Ruth.....that sucks.....but yeah on the other release at the other pub!  Good for you, and you're right.....if it's not for nocturne, it doesn't meant it's not meant to go elsewhere....so keep plugging away and good luck with the agent search!

Yeah, Lou....guess now I can fess up....I had an offer from a wonderful agent, and then well, I had another offer from the agent that was at the top of my freakin list!  So I had a decison to make and now I can say that I accepted the offer from my dream agent.....I don't want to jinx since I'm waiting for her client agreement so I can sign, but she has several awesome authors that write for various Harlequin and Silhouette lines, including Nocturne!

Can't even tell you how excited I am!  anyway, hope to see you all at the chat....

j

Still waiting...

I'm sorry to hear that Ruth.  But good luck on your November publication.

Congrats to you, Jules, on your dream agent.  What a natural high you must be on.

Quick Question

I'm interupting your chat for an important, albeit quick question. We're going to do a Nocturne Bites pitch, my question is, would the ones who'd want to participate in this be able to have something ready by the week of July 7th? Or would you like the time to prep, even though I did warn y'all this might be happening in July. If you don't think you can have something asap, we're looking at the latter part of August. What say ye?

Rae
