Hey Margaret - you made it!

I'm wondering where Hope and Janet and all the others ended up.

Hi, Anita Mae --

This Janet finally found the place. It's good to see most people have shown up.  Still missing Hope though, aren't we?

Anyone have a lasso?

Maybe we need that to get Hope in.

And since we are in a new home, I was thinking that maybe we could jazz things up a bit. Or not. Maybe you all have more new than you can handle. Anyway, thought I'd throw out that I'm open to new discussion topics and ideas, so if you've got something you want to try, let me know.

Hi everyone!

Just stopping in to say hello and ask how everyone's holidays were. I was busy as a bee with Christmas working at the portrait studio. It was CRAZY!

I really like the new layout and features. I uploaded my picture, and added links to my networking sites. It's nice what their doing around here. A bit of a shock at 7 am though, it took me a while to navigate into here. haha.

Good To See So Many

Good Morning to everyoneSmile. This is a real learning experience, but I am enjoying it.  Yes,we need to organize a search party & go find Hope.   CherylLaughing

Most of my photos are over 100k. Does anyone know how I can load one that big? Can I reduce it somehow?

Thanks,

Your picture

Hi Margaret -- I am the last one to give technical advice, but I used a photo from my website (which I assume was already reduced as it worked).  You can download the picture from your website by clicking on it and saving it to your desktop.

Yep, you could do what Janet suggested. Or, I have photoshop and I simply reduced the image size. You could email me the picture and I could reduce it for you. Or, if you have photo shop or a photo editing program, simply reduce the image size. :)

Hey Margaret - I could't get mine up on the old site until someone told me about:   http://www.resizr.com/    I've found this takes a long time however.

Since I started my own blog and one for our church, I've started using photobucket. I now use that for all my photos incl'g the ones for here. http://s258.photobucket.com/

You'll have to cut and paste the addresses because I wasn't sure if we were allowed to link here.

Good luck.

Re: pictures...

Margaret, didn't I re-size one for you on the last boards? I think I may have, so if I still have it on file, I'll send it to you. If not, send me one and I'll get it to the right size. I'm doing one for another author as we speak.

Help! I need a buddy!

Every time I log onto my profile page I feel so friendless, forlorn and lonely. When I click on "my friends" it tells me that "You haven't made any buddies, yet." Cry

Anyone want to be my friend? Let's see... I like reading, I currently play in my church's handbell choir, but in the past I have lead a teen choir and sang alto in our church choir. Currently, handbell choir is my max commitment, because I homeschool my 2 sons, which takes an amazing amount of time now that they are in the older grades. Oh, I also tutor math for 2 girls, but I'm just testing the waters there, so I receive payment in meals (yumm!!) I used to be a CPA in my former life (bc--before children), but that doesn't mean I'm an organized person (sigh).

So...anyone have room for another buddy?

I uploaded a large picture and somehow it appeared. I think the program resized it. Yay!!! Thanks everyone for your suggestions. I really appreciate them.

How cool --

We certainly could have stood next to each other somewheres.  I live on in the southern part of Pasadena just a couple of blocks up from San Marino!

I don't think you've said if you have a desire to write.  If you do, I'm wondering if you belong to RWA?  I belong to a small chapter that's getting started in Covina (meets the first Sat of the month).  They have a critique group that usually follows the meetings -- it's a great way to get to know some people if you are interested.  It's called East Valley RWA.  I can give you more info if you think you'd like to visit.

Janet--I rarely get to the southern part of Pasadena--strange, I know! But now that I see your photo, I just might recognize you if we're both out-and-about. You won't recognize me from my photo, though--I usually leave my cape at home Wink

As to writing, dare I confess that I don't enjoy writing? (a collective gasp can be heard across the forums...) Surprised I'm more the mathie/science type.

Pasadena coffee

Barbara --

I'd say there are more people who don't enjoy writing in the world than there are those of us who do!  I'd love to sign books for you. Maybe we'll see if there's anyone else out there that's close enough to Pasadena to meet for coffee. I can't meet for a month or so anyway as I am working madly on a deadline (at times like this, the people in the world who don't like to write seem like the sane ones -- about mid way through any book I have a moment or two of 'what am I doing?'). Chinook/Blessings

Hey Beckie - did you send the chinook? It's a balmy 2C/34F today!

I'm supposed to take #2ds to city but when it gets warm like this, the possibility of freezing rain worries me.

Also, the only Christian bookstore in the city is having a big closing out sale tomorrow. Blessings had a big close out sale last week in Moose Jaw and we were saying how lucky we were that 'ours' was staying open. I guess we should've prayed about it.

Here I am!

The lasso worked.    Thanks for rounding me up, pardners.

Oh, I found a bug....  When I clicked on disable rich-text so I could type in the URL of the gifs directly, it wouldn't let me type anything.  It also wouldn't let me type anything when I clicked enable rich-text afterward.  Please let the techies know, Dream!  Thanks!  I haven't tried disabling the rich text before typing anything, but I think I'll try that next.

BIAW

Okay, like I said in the prayer room, this is a busy week so if I seem to be ignoring you, I probably am!

I am on Day 3 of BIAW aka Book in a Week with my local writing group! yikes! I am writing an LIH and wow am I have a fun doing it. This story has been on my mind for a long time and it's so excited to be getting it down.

Next, I've started a blog for my church. It has pages for music (my dd Jessica's photo is there), youth, etc. I take notes on the sermon then write about it for the shut-ins. It is taking up so much of my time but it's something I was asked to do a year ago and never did.  Embarassed  If you'd like to check it out, you can go to http://newsfromthepews.blogspot.com/

Can I come and Play?

Hello,

Can I come and play with you guys?... or I guess I should say ya'll since I'm in Georgia.  Laughing

This has become my first "favorites" site.  I get kinda overwhelmed with all the posts everywhere, but this looked like a nice place to spend some time.

Several of the authors were asking about searching for their reviews... I go to the Book Challenge (second button from the right on the line of buttons across the top of the screen right under all the buttons for the different book lines).  Then I do a search on words like names.  Most of us are trying to put the author's name somewhere in our review posts.

Whew.

I finally got here again.  We had sleet this morning.  We could hear it as it pinged off the windows.  Turned to icy rain later, and now we're frozen in.  Undecided  I heard that Tulsa was catching it, too.  Hope Margaret it all right!

Michelle, I finally found your e-mail and replied about ten minutes ago.  Thanks!  And sorry about that!  I think I'm on too many mailing lists!  Some days, I can't keep up.

Crystal, it's good to have you here.  And of course you can come play with us!

Of course, it's late now, and I should try to get some sleep...  However, if you'll notice, I made some real progress on my book today!  Smile  A few more days and, Lord willing, I should have the first draft finished.  (Unless I'm interrupted, which I hope I won't be.)  Then I can think about tackling the synopsis again.

What I like to read

Thanks everyone for the warm welcome.

Margaret: What I like to read... dangerous question.. I blogged 200 books last year and they ranged from Inspirational Romance to Blaze to Luna to paranormal and pretty much everywhere in between.  Some of my favorite themes are books with animals, vets, ministers, missionaries, personal trainers, librarians, ballroom dancers (and we could REALLY use some more titles set in a ballroom studio or competitive floor.. they are tough to find!), medical romances, etc.  My new find last year was Robin D. Owens and her Summoning series.

Other than you and Janet, some of  my other favorite inspirational authors include Susan May Warren, Hannah Alexandar, Judy Baer, and Kristin Billerbeck. I've really enjoyed the Mule Hollow Series by Debra Clopton and the Tiny Blessings series by Terri Reed.

I am working my way through the Mariylynn Griffith "Shades of Style" series.  I only have "Turquoise" left.  That has been an outstanding inspirational series and somewhat outside my normal reading zone.

My main criteria for a good book is a happy ending.  My workplace book club is currently reading A Thousand Splendid Suns Undecided  They don't quite "get" the happy ending principle.

Crystal

Happy Endings

Must be a common theme. Ugh, I can't stand books that don't end with the concept of "and they all lived happily ever after."
