Looks Just Right

Thanks, Dream!  I'll have to check out the last one to make sure I read all the posts.  I'm up past 31 K now, so I think I'm in the home stretch.  I pray I am, anyway!

Goal

Dream,

I have to report that I didn't make my goal, so I have to set a new one. My new goal is to have my proposal done by Nov. 15. I'm in the middle of getting ready for my daughter's wedding--9 days and counting. Since we're having the reception in our yard, I'm busy doing yard work. In between the wedding planning, I've been driving my mother-in-law back and forth to doctors. So my goal plans  were completely shot.

You are definitely on the home stretch!

I made my deadline, oct 1. Now, on to new projects. My new goal is to have a new manuscript in NYC at the first of Feb.

Updated!

You guys should be all set!

Merrillee, how fun! Sounds like a lot of work, but how neat that the reception will be in your back yard.

Weddings and the Home Stretch

Merrillee, it sounds as though you're on the home stretch for your dd's wedding!  How wonderful!  We pray it'll be a beautiful and memorable day!

Brenda, thanks for the encouragement!  I'm rereading the last couple of chapters to get back into the swing after the (extended) weekend.  Laughing

rereading

Hope,

I do the same thing, read back a chapter or two. I edit as I write. I usually start writing by reading back over what I wrote the day before. It helps me get back into the story.

I did it!!!!!! PTL!!!!!

55,021, and the book is finished.  Whew!  Thank you ladies for all the encouragement!  Especially you, Dream, for giving me a good swift cyber-kick on the other thread when I really needed it!  I wrote over 12,000 words in the last three days, most of which was yesterday & today.  I know it's going to need some revision, but at least it's done.  I'm so thankful.  Thank you for all the prayers!  Thank You, Lord, for all the inspiration!

Now for NaNo.....  Undecided  (but not until morning...I definitely need some sleep.......)

Congratulations Hope

Way to go on finishing. Maybe I'll see it in hte store one day soon!

Today I stop being a Christian and start being Christ!

Thanks, Beckie!

I pray so!  Smile  I really loved working on it, and the characters.  I can see that when I do the revisions, it may expand some in a few places, but since it's only a little over 55K, I should be able to fix any rough spots with (I pray!) relative ease.  I'm so conditioned to work on it that when I went to get my NaNo ms., I went to that folder first!  Laughing  Mom says if I keep working on new mss. and not sending off the finished ones, I'll never sell any.  Of course, she's right.  I should be able to get the last of the revisions done on last year's NaNo come December, Lord willing!

I'm anxious to see your books on the shelf, too!

Hope, I am amazed. If I write 2500 words in a day. it's a great writing day for me. That doesn't happen often.

Congratulations on finishing.

Goals

The site looks nice!

Goal, I want to finish Shadows by the end of the year (uh, I've been threatened but we won't say who threatened me. Unless she wants to admit it. Wink

I'm also doing Nano this year. So far I've only gotten 1712 words, but that's a start. I can work with that. So for Echoes I need 50,000 words by the end of November.

Think that will keep me busy for a few days. Laughing

goals

Hope,

Okay, so new goal/accountability. When are you putting that baby in the mail. Come on, that's the fun part. Those wonderful, stress inducing weeks of waiting...Pacing, checking the mail, picking up the phone to see if it's working...

You don't want to miss out on that! So, revise and then get that little darling mailed off.

Goals/Accountability

Thanks, ladies!

Pammer, glad to see you here setting goals! Smile

Beckie, just keep plugging away.  One sentence you write today will be one sentence more than you had yesterday!  Wink

Margaret, it was tough.  If I hadn't had a few plot points tucked away to consult, I don't know whether I could have done it.  As it is, I prayed a lot.  Now with NaNo, I'm so burned out, I haven't made the 1667-a-day goal yet, but I'm playing catch up.  I've done 853, 257, 1705, and so far today, 1052, but I left off in the middle of a sentence and I should finish it.  Innocent  I don't ever want to have to cram everything into a couple of days again, Lord willing!

Brenda, you are so right!  Yes, I need to go through that waiting, play-the-guitar-instead-of-biting-fingernails time again.  Only this time, I hope I have a happier response!  (I sent the other novel out before it was really ready.  I'd done major surgery on it, chopping it from 94K to 60K to fit the line--a mistake I won't repeat.  The poor thing really was still bleeding and needing time to heal, but I'd had a request for a partial & five, so I wanted to get it there while the editor still remembered!)  I'm planning to do nothing but revise in December, Lord willing, and maybe if I can get to where I'm meeting my NaNo goals daily, I can even work on those revisions during this month!

New goals:

  • NaNo 50K by November 30th, working title The Commune (although I already have another title I like better)
  • Desert Dreamer revisions and submission by Jan. 31st (I'd make it sooner, but I don't want it lost in the Christmas rush)
  • Chick lit read-through, revisions, and submission by --- Hmmm.  I don't want to have 2 books here at the same time, even with different editors. That's not considered good etiquette.  Let's see, why don't I change this to:
  • Chick lit revisions by March 1st.

As usual, if I become overwhelmed with a sudden influx of other things that must be done, I reserve the right to change my goal dates!  Wink

Thanks for getting me back in line!  Laughing

My New Goal - Finally

I've had some serious personal family issues and missed my end of July goal.

I finally have a new goal.

Submit Hunting Danger by year end. I'm certain I can make that. I'm in what I call my semi-final draft right now and I've got a first draft of my synopsis (thanks to Camy's Synopsis Class). Writing the Synopsis actually made me see a plot flaw. That's been changed. So, I think 12/31 goal is doable for getting out a query letter, a synopsis and three chapters.

Pammer, it's good to see you

Pammer, it's good to see you here. You go, girl, with that book.
