I was so excited to see that

I was so excited to see that the Love Inspired books would get a moment in the spotlight... so awesome!

'After the Storm' mini-series

I have really enjoyed this series.  Seems like another lifetime but I used to volunteer on the American Red Cross disaster teams.. both local and national.  I've only read the first two from Valerie Hansen and Annie Jones and completely loved them both!!  Valarie's was the first one- she did a wonderful job with setting up the chaos of the storm and shortly thereafter.  The devastation from storms like that cause so much shock.  And it was such a wonderful idea- the 'Lost and Found' that was set up in the second book and having the angst filled teenager (she's a doll!) Avery get it going online was awesome!  So looking forward to the rest of this series!

Yay, a new room!

Mom and I are really enjoying the "After the Storm" series, too. We've been getting those when we couldn't get anything else. (And we bought Cheryl's Soldier Daddy, too, before we had to have major work done on the vehicle.) One thing that should make the editors happy: the Love Inspired books sell out really fast at the Walmart in the county seat. I think they should start ordering more, because they almost always sell out entirely. We had to get this month's ATS at a different store.

I am glad they woke up and

I am glad they woke up and spotlighted LI, though it was pretty obviously an afterthought since the original schedule was different. the only hitch is this month was supposed to be the Nocturne Spotlight and now they aren't because of the switch. And Nocturne is my favorite line where I buy ALL of the books. Oh well, can't win 'em all I guess. And i truly AM glad LI is getting it's moment in the sun this month.

October or November ????

I thought when Dream said next month she was referring to November which had no spotlight line.

October is Love Inspired Suspense (which is sharing with Nocturne on the boards)

Sharing the spotlight

I'm glad they're featuring LI & LIS even if we are sharing the spotlight! There's room enough for all of us!

I always find that encouraging, too.

Especially since some of the other lines' (and houses') books don't always sell out. Makes it extra special that LI & LIS do! (I'm not sure that particular WM carries LIH yet.)

November spotlight

I'm excited about the spotlight month, too! And there's that cool "spotlight" circle on the front of the books that looks almost like a Christmas ornament. :)

Can you all believe Nov. is almost here?? Where did October go?

Question

Okay guys. My cousin is having a hard time right now and I am wanting to get her the perfect book to read. She had a car accident back in 2001 that put her in a coma for a while and the Lord brought her through. Well the week before that accident she had her heart broken. Now she refuses to give ne one a chance. She has been praying alot lately about finding that special someone. She is running scared from her therapist because he cares about her. The guy isn't a Christian. I know first and foremost that he needs to have Christ in his life before they can go ne where. Don't think I am being a nosey body and pushing something on here she isn't wanting. She has admitted that she is pushing him away because she is starting to care to much about him and they are in different places. So I was wondering if you guys could help me think of the perfect book that she could read that may help her with this situation.

Jessiecue

Maybe...

Camy Tang's Deadly Intent and looks like Susan Page Davis's On a Killer's Trail. Both have heroes who aren't (or weren't) in the same faith-place as the heroine. Just finished Camy's and I'm still reading Susan's, where the H recently became a Christian. Also, a nonfiction one Finding the Love of Your Life (I think that's the title, or something like that), and Party of Two: Lessons for Staying in Step in Dating, Marriage, and Family Life by Dr. Tim LaHaye & Beverly LaHaye.
Also, there are a number of scriptures on the subject, including the one that says not even to be business partners with unbelievers, let alone marry someone who doesn't share the faith.
Hope this helps! We'll be praying!

I was thinking LI, she isn't

I was thinking LI, she isn't really a suspenseful type person so I am thinking she wouldn't read the suspense. I need to go through the book shelf and see what I can come up. Thanks for the suggestions. I will check the others out. Thanks for the prayers!

In Denial

I am fully 100% in denial that October is almost over. Because then it will be November, and then Thanksgiving, and then Christmas, and I just cannot handle that knowledge.

I went to Target yesterday and they have Halloween stuff on clearance and are moving Christmas stuff in. No, I say! NO!!

Jessiecue, wow... you probably read just as much as we all do. I'm trying to think of a good book to send her way. I think the problem with figuring out which book to send her is that all of our books end up with a happy ending, the hero and heroine have both resolved their spiritual issues and are walking with Christ. I think it's good for her to read one of our books to know it's possible, but there's also the chance he won't come to know Christ as in our books. I know, I'm being pessimistic, but I'm watching a lot of my friends struggle in their marriages (and divorce) because they held out too much hope that a guy would find Christ.

So... my first advice is for you to have her read some of YOUR favorites. Those tend to be the ones that speak the most to people we recommend them to. My next recommendation is... A Soldier's Devotion by Cheryl Wyatt. It is NOT out until January, but if I remember correctly, you have a subscription, so you should get it here in the next month. It's Vince's story. For those of you reading Cheryl's series, you're probably familiar with smart-mouthed, completely not a Christian, Vince. Notice it has taken SIX books for Vince to find Christ. Have her read the series, then give her Vince's book. If you've kept up with all of the series, you'll see bits and pieces of Vince's growth until he hits the point in his book where he can finally walk with the Lord.

I think the reason I love this series so much, particularly Vince's story, is that Vince really shows how it is often a very long process. I love that we can walk with Vince through a number of books and see his growth.

Dont worry about being pessimistic

I was being that way as she and I where talking today. She has been praying extrememly hard about the situation. As well as I have since she decided to confide in me about what is going on. I feel her biggest problem is she is still running because she is scared. She was tremendously hurt with her ex right before her car wreck. She actually had to live through the break up twice. When she came out of the coma she didn't recall the break up and the family couldn't even get the guy to come in and talk to her. It was a horrible ordeal. She is terrified of going through it all again. She wants to move on but doesn't know how. I guess you could say. She is struggling but praying very hard about her situation. I guess you could say that I thought one of the books could help her with the situation. So far she is being extremely pessimistic herself. She won't take the chance for fear of being hurt again. Yet she wants to but doesn't feel like she can. I dunno if I am explaining this right. Yep I need to go skim back through the books and see if I can find one I think would help her best relate to the situation.

I can't wait to read Vince's story. He deserves one! I am already waiting on it to get here now! I am gonna go stir crazy.

book help

Jessica,
Praying for your friend, and for you as you search for the right book. You'll find the right one. Pick several, you never know which one will be 'the one' that gets her attention. And even if it just lightens her mood, helps her escape for a few hours, it'll be worth it.

My husband had never been to church until we got married. But I prayed for the right person and he was the one that God brought into my life. He's a pastor now and we've been married 23 years. :-)
