"Mission: Motherhood"
I wasn't too sure about the Love Inspired books as many of you know but I got into the suspense and enjoyed them. Now I have to admit I enjoyed this first book of "Homecoming Heroes". And I do plan on reading the rest of the series.

Glad to hear it!
These authors have a way of sucking you in. Now if only they could invent a way to add hours to the day to get all the extra reading in. :)

Extra Hours
I could go for a few extra hours. I usually stay up to midnight reading, etc. and now I am yawning my way through the morning. Doesn't seem to matter than I am retired I just use the hours to read instead of going to bed at a reasonable time and I've never been able to sleep past day break.

Agreed!
I'm on the other end of the spectrum, with small children running around, so the only time I get to read is if I stay up so late. Then again, that's a habit I got from my grandma, who always reads before bed. When we spent summers with her, she and I would always stay up late reading. :)

Homecoming Heroes
Boy, am I coming in late on this topic! The trouble is that I was really busy with family when Mission: Motherhood came out--ironic, isn't it?! We had all our kids and grandkids here over a glorious ten days, and I think I'm still not recuperated, even though I loved every minute of it.
Anyway, I'm hoping you're all going to enjoy the Homecoming Heroes series. The six of us loved working together on the stories, and the characters became very real to us. I know I was touched to tears by some of the stories I read from Army chaplains as I researched my book.
Best ever,

Accolades
Margaret -- not sure this is the best place to say this, but I have also been impressed with how cordial and welcoming you are to new authors and the pre-published, not to mention the rest of us like Jill and I who have been around awhile.
PS -- waving to Jill, too.

Jill, I was so happy to meet you, too. I still have in my mind that some day, some where, we need to have a sit-down, get-to-know-you lunch. And, as I said, you're not that far from a place in Idaho that I sometimes go with my family.

gettting to know you
One of the great things about working on a continuity is getting to know the other writers in such an intense way. It really is amazing. Margaret, how many continuities have we worked on together?

Oh do share!
I would love to hear about how ladies all work together to make such fantastic continuities. I'm really enjoying this one, and I know our readers are too!

Working on continuities
How do we do it? Let me count the ways! Well, first off, the invitation comes from the editor to participate, and of course, you say yes! Once all six authors are announced, the first thing is usually to set up a yahoogroups loop just for this project, so that we can stay in constant touch. That constant touch is important, because any change you make in your project will have an effect on all the books down the line.
I remember Margaret giving me a call one evening to hash out a plot point. My sister-in-law, hearing me say "Margaret," said, "Was that Margaret Daley? I love her books!"
Some continuities are more complex than others--I'd say the suspense are harder, because there's so much to keep track of. Once we made up an elaborate family tree, so that we could all refer to it. On the Reunion Revelations one, we kept tuning and finetuning the backstory, with all of us posting our thoughts and then one person trying to pull them together into a coherent whole. Since the crime happened in the past in that book, It was crucial that we all agreed on the backstory events!
But it isn't just work. It's a lot of laughs, too, as we share the silly mistakes we sometimes make. And each person's individual gift seems to come to the fore as we work together to make a coherent whole.
