Pennies From Heaven with Lois Richer

A Little Boy Desperate For Treatment

The Doctor Who Could Save Him

The Woman Who Loved Them Both

The moment GloryAnn Cranbrook met her new patient at the children's clinic, she broke a rule by getting attached. But at least she felt something, unlike her handsome boss, Dr. Jared Steele. The man who'd once cared enough to open the clinic now refused to perform the technique he'd become famous for. The technique that could save the boy's life.

Why? And could GloryAnn--and the child who needed them both--change his stubborn mind?

Welcome Lois!

I'm so glad you're here to join us this week.

Tell us a little about the Pennies from Heaven concept. I'm really interested to hear what it's all about and how you came up with the idea.

Pennies From Heaven

Thanks, Dream! I'm very happy to be here to talk about my new series. The first book, Healing Tides, is set in my fave spot--Hawaii. And given the frigid weather we've been having, I'd like to go back there now! Wink

Pennies from Heaven started with wondering what a wealthy woman who had no family would do with money she doesn't need. Elizabeth Wisdom  inherited her Texas oil fortune from her father and developed worthy projects all over the world, but it wasn't enough. So she decided to go one step further and create her own family of daughters. She selects deserving women who need a boost and offers to help them reach their goal if, in return, they will give her six months.

HEALING TIDES is about Glory, a pediatrician from the Arctic who goes to Hawaii to help out in Elizabeth's burn clinic for six months. Glory is determined to leave at the end of her term and return to the Arctic to keep a promise she made to her dying mother. But Glory falls in love with her boss and is torn between her love for him and her love for the Inuit and her promise to God to return north.

The contrasts in the story made this a fun one to write. I hope readers enjoy it, too.

RE: PENNIES FROM HEAVEN by Lois Richer

I was online "shopping" the other day and was considering putting this one in me cart for purchase.  Well, after reading your blurb and the obvious enjoyment it gave you to write the book, I will have to buy it!

Hockey and books

I hope you enjoy it.

Loved the comment about hockey!

Lois

Lois that sounds wonderful!

I love the idea of how she decides to share her wealth and invest in people like that.

I've got the book right here and I think once I get back from the Dentist's, I'll give it a start. In fact, maybe I'll bring it with me, since I've got a kiddo getting her teeth cleaned too.

Dentists

Oh, poor you! I'm a wimp when it comes to dentists. I think you were going the last time I talked to you. Laughing

 Hope all goes well.

Lois

series idea

What a great premise for a series that is, Lois! It really lets you work on a variety of ideas that are still connected, but without necessarily being in the same place. I love the Hawaii setting. Can you let us in on where the other books are set?

Love the Series

Have just finished both Healing Tides and Heart's Haven. Read HT because I had just returned from Hawaii and read HH because I loved the first book. Looking forward to the next...the question for me, is this something that may turn into a longer than trilogy series? It seems like the possibilities are endless...

Peace and happy writing....

Lois - HI!

Hello Lois! It's so great to hear that you're doing a series. I know our readers love those. Are these new books all as connected as the series you and I did in the past or can each be read separately? I know I'll love them either way but some fans have asked me that kind of question and I'm sure there are others who would love to know. Being me, I tend to read things out of sequence! Then again, my whole life is like of like that! (As you well know)Wink

RE: HEALING TIDES by Lois Richer

Without having read the book yet, one of the mind pictures I receive is: a warm, Sunny place (A place in the Holy Spirit for growth, a place for no fear & new things, and healing; Hawaii)  Warm, azure, ocean water (water - many times a symbol used in healing prayer in Scripture, Warmth - The Lord clasping you to His bosom via the Holy SpIrit, Azure(blue), many times used as a color of royalty in Bible times.  The royal Jesus, Making hs magnificience known through His healing Spirit.).

Series and upcoming books

Thanks for dropping in, ladies.

Yes, the three books are connected because of Elizabeth Wisdom, but they certainly can be read independently. The second book, HEART'S HAVEN, is set in Chicago in a place called The Haven, which is a shelter/soup kitchen. It's about a chef who thought her dream was to open her own restaurant. She's anxious to repay Elizabeth with her six months of service and then move on. Instead she finds herself draw to the hero, a psychiatrist who's suffering from Post traumatic stress disorder after service in Iraq. He's forcing himself to counsel The Haven's clients to fulfill his sister's dream, while he raises his teenage nephew.

I'll tell you about the third story, A COWBOY'S HONOR, tomorrow. Wink

I'm hoping to do three more stories, sequels to this series, in 2009. It's been a pleasure to research the locales and now I have three other places itching to debut. I really like exploring how the setting affects the characters.

Dream, how was the dentist? Are you hurting?

Your new series

I finally found you, Lois.

Your new book series sounds wonderful, and I'm sure all of your readers will be happy with it. Good luck with your chatting this week.

Dentist and Healing Tides

Actually, the dentist wasn't too bad. Just my regular cleaning and checkup. No bad news. They book me and the kiddo together, so I had plenty of reading time while they cleaned her teeth. She had a really loose tooth, so they spent some time trying to talk her into just pulling it, but she'd have none of that. Silly thing fell out on its own later that night.

I'm really enjoying the book so far, it's intensely emotional. And I'm very glad I have a subscription, because I've already got my March books and can dig in. I think the April ones should be here soon, too, so that'll be even better. I love being able to read connected books together.

I hope you do get to do more of the books in the future. I'd really love to read Elizabeth's story. :)

Series

Thanks Dream, and all of you. You're so encouraging. Laughing

I really like series--reading and writing them. It makes the characters more lifelike and the story seems bigger, more satisfying.

For Valentine's I specifically asked my hubby for books, though he also bought flowers. I've kept those books tucked away because we're going to a hot springs tomorrow and after I've soaked away my cares, there's nothing better than curling up with a good book.

Don'tcha think?

Lois

Book #

I promised I'd tell about the third book in the Pennies From Heaven series so here goes.

A COWBOY'S HONOR is set in Texas where Gracie, the heroine who is a vet, is working on a ranch specially designed to teach disabled children independence and coping skills. Gracie's there because Elizabeth Wisdom helped her through vet school after Gracie's husband Dallas disappeared six years ago, leaving his newly wed wife pregnant.

Gracie has no idea what happened to Dallas until she sees  him in the park in the city of Dallas and confronts him. Not only does Dallas not recognize her, he doesn't even know he has a wife, or a child! Gracie's intent on protecting her precious disabled daughter, but she can't walk away from the man who still holds her heart. It comes down to trusting God to help her become the woman He meant her to be.

I hope readers will enjoy it.

Lois

Lady vet

I read your summary of A Cowboy's Honor and liked it. I was interested in your female vet---way back when, one of my heroine's was a vet.  I didn't know anything about the profession, but one of my former boy students is now a practicing vet.  I arranged to go out with him on his rounds one day, as well as watching what went on in the clinic. My education really soared that day.  I've often said, if I could have spent a week with him, I'd have known to get my verterinarian's license.Smile It was a fun day, as well as helpful.

I'll be sure to watch for this book.

Irene

green with envy

Lois, the trip to the hot springs with books sounds wonderful. That's my favorite thing to do.

Wow, book #3 sounds really great. I love stories where a long-lost love is found. The missing husband aspect makes it really intriguing. :)

I really enjoyed Healing Tides. I finally finished last night after the kiddos went to bed. It had so many great points about forgiveness.

Vets and Hot Springs

Well, it was a great way to spend a few hours and I had some fantastic reads.

Irene, I can just imagine you as a vet! You'd be great. HOrses really intrigue me. We never had them as kids but a lot of friends did--back then 4H was really big. My cousin rode in the Olympic Equestrian team so I feel a certain kinship. Smile

I hope you both enjoy the story. It was a learning experience trying to get info on the ranch. There is just such a place in Texas where kids can learn in such a fun environment. I'd love to go there and actually witness them working their way around it.

A very gorgeous day here today. Time to think of colts and fresh grass and spring crocuses.

 Lois

Thank You.

Oops, also meant to say thank you, Dream. I'm glad you enjoyed the story.

Lois

Thank you Lois

Lois, Thanks so much for spending the week with us. The first book was great, and I'm very excited to get to books 2 and 3. Yes, my subscription books arrived today, so I get to read them all at once. YAY!
