Spotlight Read: Love Inspired Romantic Suspense-Yuletide Peril by Terri Reed

Tabitha Grant can’t deny she has feelings for her boss—handsome, successful, charismatic sports agent Jonathan Spangler. But she’d never compromise her integrity or her job as his personal assistant by becoming involved with the playboy millionaire. Her sense of professionalism and her strong faith in God will let her settle for nothing less than a true, lasting love, and Jon is clearly enjoying his life as one of Boston’s most eligible bachelors.

But when a man crashes the company Christmas party claiming to have life-or-death information about her estranged sister, Tabby is forced to turn to Jon for help. And Jon is forced to face his true feelings for his assistant, and reexamine his own faith!

Hmm

The security guard is gone, and the dissheveled old man is dead -- or at least seriously injured.  I wonder  whether the cleaning woman at the end of the hall is Tabby's sister in disguise and whether she attacked the old guy to keep him from telling Tabby something about her that she didn't want Tabby to know.

Great story so far

I just read the first 2 chapters.  This story looks like it will be extremely interesting.

Lots of questions so far.

Thanks for stopping by.

Margaret and Pam, hope you come back to read more.  Thanks.

Papaya, Thursday your question will be answeredWink

I feel sure...

...Jon is going to help Beth Tabby, but I wonder how, and I wonder who has called.  I wonder if the caller is really her sister Beth Tabby setting her up to try to extort money from her as "ransom".  I wonder who the homeless guy was.

I wonder a lot of things.  Very interesting story so far!

Nice job, Terri

I've just read the first two chapters and I am impressed by the cliff hangers at the end of each chapter and the questions that have been generated!

I've definitely been sucked into this story.

Thanks!

Isn't it great?

She keeps leaving us hanging. I can't wait to see what is next. I have to say, I like Jon a lot. He seems like a good guy. Definitely hero material.

Hmmm wonder if they can

Hmmm wonder if they can trace where the call came from... I'm sure the caller is using an untraceable cell phone though.   I had a feeling they'd know Jon was there.  The person could be in any of the houses in the neighborhood.

Wonder how they are going to be able to get the police involved without the perpetrator knowing.  This story is keeping me interested :)

I bet Beth planted a video line when she went to Tabby first.

unless someone else came through that window first...

Terri, you are really drawing us into this story with all of your cliffies.Embarassed

So glad to know

you all are enjoying this story.  I like Jon, too.  He developed so easily in my head when I was writing this story. I love cliffhangers!  Writing them and reading them.

My computer keeps freezing when I try to login to comment so if I don't get on in a timely manner that's the reason.   That and the fact that this weekend I'll be at the Emerald City conference in Seattle where I'm giving a workshop.  I'll bring my laptop but not sure if I'll have internet access.  If anyone is in the Seattle/Bellevue area I'll be signing my most recent (June) release, HER LAST CHANCE on Saturday at the Bellevue Hilton from 4:30-6pm.   My November release will hit the shelves in a few weeks.  My husband is reading a copy now and says he's really enjoying it.  He's not a reader by nature so for him to say that is quite specialLaughing

Spooky

The idea of being watched so closely is pretty creepy to me.  The voice didn't say that he/she could hear what they discussed, however.  I wonder if that is so as well.

Very nice!

I hate waiting!

Jon

is turning out to be a really good guy.  I agree he's definitely hero material.  Now, I wonder why he had decided never to get emotionally involved with a woman -- his parents' relationship perhaps?

Jon is getting sucked in

Oh, I love it when a playboy falls hard, and I suspect that's what Jon's going to do.  Can't wait to see how it all unfolds.

I hope her sister isn't involved, too, but it wouldn't surprise me if she is.  To have "eyes" on Tabby in so many different places, someone with access has to have been watching her for some time.

Back from conference

with story ideas and lots of information buzzing in my brain.

So glad to know you all are liking this story.  I had fun with Tabby and Jon.  They turned out so likeable.

Jon and Tabby

seem to be getting closer.  It seems that both of them have been guarding their hearts against each other.

I also love it when a playboy falls in love.  They fall hard and true.  Chalk one up for Tabby.

I am also wondering if Beth is involved in this.  Sure hope not.

Jon has finally said yes to going to church with Tabby.  YAY!

Uh, oh!

Our boy, Jon, is in trouble!  Well, so is our girl, Tabby.  They are going to have to fight hard to get through that, "I won't get involved!" thinking.

Silly people, don't they know adversity brings folks together?!

The Playboy hero...

what is it about the playboy type that makes women want to tame him?  And you're right, when they fall, they fall hard, kicking and screaming the whole way.  So do bad boy heroes.  And well...alpha heroes.  The best kind.  What fun!

Come back on Thursday for more.  Laughing

Oh Terri...  you are

Oh Terri...  you are keeping us hooked with unexpected surprises!  Wish I oculd read this all now :)

Tension

On TV or in books, these money/ransom drops always make me nervous because there is always a twist.  Eeek!

Jon may not be ready to fully embrace God and religion, but I don't think his taking extra steps to keep her safe is an act of little faith.  After all, I think God expects us to do what we can to take care of ourselves as part of the bargain and to rely on Him to take care of what's beyond our control.

Jon may have the reputation of being a playboy, but so far I really like him.  He's been very sweet and protective thus far.

Ahhh.. Jon...

I still like him a lot too. I really love how he experienced church. My hubby had a similar experience in terms of remembering it one way from being a child, and as an adult, being pleasantly surprised by the music and message. Twelve years later, he's still at the church. :)

The ransom drop is a bit scary... I have a feeling the kidnappers know all about the surveilance and her being wired. If they were smart enough to have her watched as closely as she had been at home, I'm sure they're smart enough to plan for all that as well. I'm intrigued to see what they'll do to get out of it.

Jon's church memory was a

Jon's church memory was a bit from my own experience.  The church my family attended while I was growing up was very traditional, not that there is anything wrong with traditional.  I love the old hymns sung to a organ or with a robed choir, especially more now as an adult.  As a kid, not so much. And I thought I heard the messages even though at times the words didn't make sense to my life.  When my husband I moved to Oregon and started attending a church here, we were blown away.  The music was contemporary with a full band and singers.  It was like going to a concert every week yet it was very touching and worshipful.   And I don't think I was ready to really hear the messages and relate them to my life until I was an adult.   But the great thing is, God meets us wherever we are.

Jon and Tabby sealed it with a kiss

I also wonder if she is still being closely watched.  The abductors (possibly Beth involved) have pulled a switch on them.  I am really looking forward to seeing this play out.

I loved Jon's experience with Tabby's church and her faith.  I also remember going to church way back when.  My DH and I searched for a church we both liked for quite a while.  We finally found our church, and love it.  Over the years we have gone to churches of relatives and friends, but none were as good as ours.  I guess it's just a case of finding your own home and loving it.

Heating right up!

OK now, things are right in the thick of it!  I'm glad Jon & Tabby have figured out how they feel about each other.  Now we, I mean Terri,  just has to get them through the danger.

I am thinking that the kidnappers are well organized, all that switching around to get at Tabby and make sure she wasn't followed.  All that spying on her.  I wonder what Beth was involved with to get her into this situation.

... and then they bought the goat. :D

Lots of action in this chapter!

Not necessarily overtly physical, but a fast paced chapter.  The fact they're taking Tabby to her house makes me think even more that her sister is in on it.

Glad we only have to wait until Thursday for the next chapter, but it SUX that we have to wait over the weekend before we get the final chapter next Tuesday!

Hugs,
April

Interesting twist, the going

Interesting twist, the going back to Tabby's house. I wouldn't think that the kidnappers would do that.

Hmmm, that was an interesting way to take her back to her house.  Makes me think her sister is involved somehow...  hmmmm, maybe the losers Beth was involved with.  Their car sounded like it was a clunker, but they seem to have their act together to get her away from anyone following her.  Can't wait to see what's happening in her house right now...

Terri you tell a good story...

Interesting twist!

Taking Tabby back to her house may be just the break Jon and Kyle need to rescue her and her sister, unless Beth is actually in on it.  I hope not but from the beginning I've felt like she might be.

Can't wait for Thursday's chapter!

Another great chapter, Terri

Wow!  What a well written and fast paced chapter.  The kidnappers really have their act together.  Sure hope Beth isn't involved in this, but can't help but wonder since they went back to Tabby's place.  I am also wondering if the kidnappers will finally realize that Tabby is wired and has an earpiece.

In this chapter, Jon and Tabby have finally realized that they love each other.

Really looking forward to reading the rest of this story.

Glad you like the twists.

Glad you like the twists.  Its hard to get everything in when writing such a short story but hopefully all the important elements are there.

Did you all know that the Love Inspired Suspense books are spotlighted this month?  There are some great reads out by Cara Putman, Jenness Walker, Leann Harris and Susan Page Davis.  And the covers are so pretty!

Love it!

It's definitely very fast-paced!

I think it's funny, how even though the team is so experienced and know what they're doing, Jon and Tabby are still so fearful. Even though they've put their trust in them, they're still worried. What a great reflection of human nature.

Yes, the spotlighted books look great! And, if you go to the Love Inspired Suspense section of the eHarlequin bookstore, you can get a nice sample of each of this month's books.  Really good books in the lineup!

YikesTerri, you've done it

YikesTerri, you've done it again!   had a feeling the sister was in on it somehow, but boy she's in on it with a vengence!  Now I'm sure they got Beth and not Tabitha, but that was sure close!  Now is she going to feel bad about her sister's death? injuries?  wonder if they killed Beth...   want to read the next chapter now...

I knew Beth was in on the kidnapping. I know that Tabby will make it through. I know Jon will ask God to enter his life.  But, something is still missing.

FF, I think it that

FF, I think it that something needs to be resolved between Tabby and Beth.  That's my feeling anyway...  seems if Beth dies then Tabby will never be able to resolve the issue of Beth's problems and her parents lying to her (by omission).  She may always blame herself for Beth being like she is even though it may not have had anything to do with Tabby.

Can't imagine my parents turning one of my siblings out no matter how ill, mean or drugged out they were...  thank goodness it never had to be tested though, we're all healthy and drug free to the point of not even liking to take prescription drugs!  We have our spats, but we always pull together!

I'm glad to see

that the authorities are involved now.  Only one more chapter!  Whew!

Jon's got a little bump to work through if Tabby feels guilty about involving him, but I think he's up to the task.

If Beth wasn't "cured" then how did she get out of the institute?  Maybe she isn't taking her meds.

Interesting story Terri, thanks!
