Sorry!
That was my fault. It has to do with setting up the Judging and Challenge threads so I could make them linkable again. :) Wheee!
Alas, the new challenge will have to be posted again, but I did warn ya. :) Besides, there was a bit of a date problem and the actual date was corrected. Now it can be posted in one post. :)
Hope that helps!

You don't need to apologize--it was my own fault for not grabbing a copy and I did find it. LOL

I know this is right up your ally. I can't wait to read what you come up with and everyone else too.
I think this is going to be the biggest challenge I've seen since I've been on the site. I've been racking my brain trying to think of something, but for some reason it's not coming to me. I'll keep trying.

Glad I found the place. ;)
Got an idea for the challenge today. Just need to develop it a little.
Stargirl - I think Heidi said those things were okay. I sure hope so, my idea might involve a little shape shifting. *g*

I just happened to be looking for new posts while my reading class was doing their silent reading, and wah-la! The new page was there!
Ok, so maybe it wasn't EXACTLY like that...first I looked in the Challenge Rules, and then I looked in the Judging, and then I gave up and checked in between classes!!!!
I'm looking forward to reading these entries, also! I'm starting a Desire ms for the pitch, so I'm not sure how much I'll get to play in the next few months, but I'll definitely follow along!!! And, of course, if inspiration strikes I'll type one out!!!

I'm planning on entering the desire contest, too. I'll be starting my ms in a couple of weeks. I'm currently working on my nocturne submission but once that gets out the door, I'll work on the desire pitch ms. I already have the characters and general theme on paper. Needs a little more fleshing out/backstory before I dive into the first draft, though...
GL! We can cheer eachother on until the ms's are done! ;)
SueB, back to the writing cave...

I got a great idea for a Desire manuscript while listening to Dr. Laura in the car the other day while driving my son to the doctor. :-) I listened to this woman caller and thought, hmmm.. what if... and if so, then what if ???? But I haven't written a word of it yet! LOL. I only jotted down some notes. I have other things I need to finish, but the pitch is fast approaching..... Oh what to do. LOL :P

Writer2be~
Do I think you're crazy? NO!!!!! I don't think I'm actually "ready" or "there" yet, but I'll never know until I try!
I have learned a lot through the few challenges I've done here. I'm gaining (I think) skills and ability every time I put my writing out there for others to see.
I'm surprised by the fact that I can see improvement in my own writing. I suppose that when you reach "adulthood" and have multiple college degrees you just think you're as good as you're going to get.
It's nice to know that even a not so old dog can learn new tricks!!!!

so, we've clarified that i'm not crazy. i think i'll run with your comment that even a not so old dog can learn new tricks... 'cuz that would be me. *grin*

Desire Pitch!
I found it, thank you ALL!
I doubt that I can write a new ms from scratch when I'm supposed to be editing my NaNoNovel for July, but stranger things have happened.
Good luck to all who plan on entering

Hey All!
Nice new room~ I am also going to be pitching for Desire. Have started on my WIP but am finding myself having to go back to Alpha up my Hero from time to time. I guess I like those funny, down to earth guys a little too much.
The current challange will be tough for me. Not really into Nocture or sci-fi so if my entry comes out a little on the Enchanted Disney side... Well there is something to be said for singing cockroaches!

I learned so much from entering the nocturne pitch contest. Even though I didn't win, it was well worth it. I say GO FOR IT! In all honesty, you have nothing to lose and everything to gain. We can crack the whip at each other to keep us all on track to get our ms' ready for July.
Speaking of which, I have a nocturne ms which I need to attend to...
And then there's that nocturne bite...
Ack!

Thanks for helping judge the last challenge. I took to heart two of your points of critique (POV ambiguity & comma use - guilty...) and applied them to my expanded version of my challenge.
if you happen to have the time or desire, may I send you my expanded story to see if i've been able to reduce those pesky issues? debowei at regent dot edu
i have discovered the POV thing is my current bane and would like to learn from those who appear to be able to peg it quickly. of course, if you're too busy, i'll understand.

Hey there...yeppers, I got the critique and have started to look over the piece to work on changes...I can see what you mean once I started revamping it...
I don't have a clue what to write for this next challenge, thought about fairies or elves but nothing is happening...no thoughts or direction for this one at all...
see ya!

I got the emails and I'll start from oldest onward.... :)
So much happening, I didn't get a chance to say what great entries we had for last challenge! Loved sending out critiques to those who asked. And sharing 2nd with Vince, that was awesome! Flyingheidigirl and Nini, congrats too!
Well, back to impromto Spring cleaning, curtain making, and working on my Romance WIP, which seems to want to be a Presents. Sigh.

Sure! I'm kinda busy this week and have a couple more critiques in to do first, but hey, the students graduate May 3, and there's an off chance I might get my life back after that...

hmmm...
Haven't gotten any critiques yet. Now people, I KNOW my writing isn't perfect! lol! Any suggestions/comments would be much appreciated. send them to suebee_717 at yahoo dot com.
Writer2b - if you want to send your piece over, I'd like to read it. Trying to get my current wip out the door, so it might take me a little bit before I get to it, but I'd love to see where the last challenge led you...

I'm working on it! I'm sorry it's taking forever. I have had a super busy week. I'll try to get one to you as soon as I can. I know it really helps when you get specific feedback on what you're doing right and what you can improve.

I really appreciate it. I know you are busy. The critiques mean a lot.

Hi everyone
I'm still waiting for critiques as well...When ever you get a chance will be fine.
I was going to make my scene in to a short story, but I'm thinking I might hold on to it. When my writing gets better, I think I might turn it in to a MS.
People pitching for Desire, I would like to help. I'm not very good at grammer, but I do read Desire. So I can critique as a reader, if anyones interested.

stargirl - got it - thank you. I'll send you an email later tonight (after I had a chance to read it).
Misty - I will definately keep you in mind when I get to that point with my desire ms. Right now I am finishing my nocturne for submission. Next weekend (after the challenge) I will be looking for some beta readers for that.
I was originally going to wait to give critiques until after my ms was submitted, but I can make an exception ;)Since the old thread has been archived, I lost your contest entry. If you want, you can email it to me at suebee_717 at yahoo dot com and I will read/comment on it this weekend (again, lol).

Hello....
Just a quick hi. I have 29 more days of school left, thank goodness, and then a summer without students. I think, hope, pray, beg the Gods, that i can find the time to write.
Mom's doing much better. She'll be moving to a rehabilitation center for a while, to get back on her feet.
On another note, i was just reading the posts and wondered where we all chose our sign in names from. Did we do this before? I can't remember. But i'll bet there's a story there somewhere.
Does anyone want to share?

Nini is short for Anita, and when Jodie was a baby, she couldn't pronounce Anita, so my Aunt Evelyn heard her say Nini and that was that. It stopped for a while, but when i got a computer, it was just the most natural thing to use Nini...

We don't use the term "not a writer" or "not published"...we say that we're
"PRE-PUBLISHED"...........and that's directly from a friend of mine who's an author...Jenna Mills. She used a few capital letters one day on an IM and stated that i was "prepublished" and that i am a writer...
