Got a question about the board? Have a suggestion for what you'd like us to study or present here? Can't find what you're looking for? Or maybe you just wanna chat. Here's the spot! I'll do my best to solve your eHQ problems and I'm always up for a chat!
But, I'm not an editor and I'm not in the official Harlequin offices. I'm afraid I--or any hosty--cannot check on the status of a manuscript or advise course of action for your writing career.
If you'd rather reach me privately, my email is always on: laideebug@gmail.com is probably the fastest way to catch me!

To jump to the newest comments, we need to click on the "1 New" Link. It jumps your browser down to the new comments since your last visit. Clicking on the title starts you at the top.
The one exception is when a thread rolls over to multiple pages. This has been a bug on and off throughout development and it seems to have popped back up at launch. We've logged it as a bug with the developers again and they should be working on it today.

Dee,
Hello! Is there a place to look for a critique partner on the boards? Thanks

Yup, in the Social Discussions folder, you'll find the aptly named: Find a Critique Partner. :)

Hello. :-D
It's nice to be here again.... but honey, I have a query!
I want to change my e-mail address on my account, it won't let me do that unless I fill in a postal address. And I can't do that unless I have a US postal address.
Any thoughts?
Ta sweetie.
PS - how the heck are you???

Yeah, I've heard that's a real problem. What our tech had us do for another was tell her to use the Harlequin Toronto office address until we can get the UK ones useable. Then you should be good!
As for me, oh you know, harried, obsessed and hungry. The usual. The kids are rounding out nicely though. LOL!

spell Check
Please can we have the spell check back. I hate posting anything with spelling mistakes. Because there isn't a spell check I can't write what I really want to say and have to choose other words which don't work quite so well. Janet
Well, we can try...
But I can't make any promises. It has to do with the text editor, I'm afraid, and that's on the bug list.
Just have to be patient,

BIAY?
Hi Dee!
Perhaps you can help me find the BIAY07 posts? I have to say I'm finding the new board rather confusing and...well, I'm not used to them yet I guess.
So far - don't like them, but I'm sure time will heal all wounds! LOL!
I was doing the BIAY and in November the NaNo kind of eclipsed it and it just disappeared. I'd like to touch base with everyone and find out who submitted, where everyone's at...
Thanks so much,
:)

Well, actually...
We haven't quite figured out how to get the old archives over here and as the BIAY didn't have a whole lot of action going, I wasn't sure about renewing it. Some have mentioned that a year is possibly too long of a period.
Maybe we could create a running BIAM?

Hi Dee
I just saw this thread pop up in the Recent Posts, and had to come post, even though I have nothing to ask... I tried to think of something, I really did (what's the meaning of life?) but decided to just post and say helloooo. :)

Any idea when they'll fix the "posting" issue?
Hi there Dee!
Any idea when they'll fix the "posting" issue? Whenever a comment is posted it takes us back to the first post on the thread.
Also, any progress being made on taking us to the "new" unread posts instead of page one? Most of the threads now have numerous pages and sometimes it takes awhile to figure out which is the last post read.
Otherwise, the site looks great! It takes some getting used to -- but that is always the case with new things.
Thanks! Lidia
Yup!
The "back to one" post is a big one and they're trying to figure it out. That one will take some time. It might actually be an error that the designer has to fix in a new version. We're hoping not, but it's possible.
The "new" bug is apparently almost ready to implement. At last report. Or at least, in testing it is. You know it goes, everything changes in real life, no matter how many rehersals you do. Keep your fingers crossed!
Thanks for sticking with us!

Hi.
Dee's going to be awol for a bit.
The Moo is sick with appendicitis and is right now getting prepped for surgery.
If you're having a problem and need immediate help, you may want to seek out the help of one of the other hosties until Dee gets back.
Sorry to be the bearer of bad news.

Thanks for the well wishes!
Gio is doing well, he's even been allowed to try to eat a little. He came through the surgery beautifully, less one very angry appendix. The dr said we were lucky, we caught it just before it burst. And he did say his belly didn't hurt so bad anymore. He was dismayed to hear he can't come home yet, but the nurses there are looking forward to spoiling him rotten. Plus, in order to get him to drink down the contrast---and not throw it up---for the CT scan, I might have promised him not one, but TWO Sonic games of his choice.
And nope, he's not about to forget. One of the first things he mentioned coming out of the anasthesia was, "Sonic??"
But it's a small price to pay for his health.
Many thanks for the continued good wishes!

Oh wow!
Thanks everyone! I had to come back yesterday to watch the girls because the hospital rule is that only one parent can stay the night and definitely no babies overnight. (Which works out because my girls like to party at night and that wouldn't work out.) Gio was doing much better but wouldn't eat or drink.
Mom came over to watch the girls so I could go see him and we were able to get a meal and some quality water into him. He's playing games with his roommate now and hubby is staying with him tonight. With any luck, he'll be home tomorrow afternoon...where we'll be taking over the spoiling. He's even claiming to miss his sisters!
Isn't it strange though, I didn't really feel the fear or cry until after he was safe.
Many hugs,

Not strange al all, Deedle. You're a mom. You do what you have to do to get through a crisis, but when it's over you let loose all the emotions you had to suppress.
I'm so glad to hear the Mooster came through surgery with flying colors...and hedgehogs.

Like Marcy said...
... not strange at all, love. You cope because you have to, and then when you can let go for a moment, you do. It's called delayed reaction, delayed shock...
Anyway, you take the moments you can to cry it out, and good luck with getting Moo home again. Take care.

Well, I cried..
but it had more to do with my girls than delayed shock. They won't sleep. They've tested Guiness and stayed up from 6pm until 4am this morning. It's either cry or do something bad to them.
Good news, his white blood cell count is going down and the antibiotics are clearing up the infection. He should be coming home today. :)

I see. I've gotta say, I've spent a year writing my novel - I know a lot of people have fun with the NaNo thing, but I can't imagine me personally producing anything in a month! Perhaps a less radical alternative? Jumping from 365 days to 30 is quite the leap!
If there is no thread anymore, perhaps you can guide me to the threads where I could get some help wrapping things up and finishing? Feeling a little alone here.
Thanks,

Shaz
Well, the girls have finally gone to sleep...
And my Mom & Pet are here to keep them that way for a few hours while I try to catch up myself. But after several days of not sleeping, it's hard to turn off the brain. Gio got home after 9pm last night. He was huggy and just ecstatic to be home.
"Sonic game?" was asked roughly ten minutes later.
It's been a while since he's let me snuggle him. Of course, it's a lot harder since he's roughly my size now. I could probably sit on his lap instead of the other way around. Why doesn't anyone warn you that mothering boys means letting them go so much earlier?
Anyhow, he's going to be confined for roughly the next ten days; no jostling, no jumping, no bouncing. He is expected to be veal. I expect he'll be happy to comply. Except for those brief walks we'll have to get him on 4 times a day. Since it's raining outside and my apartment is a postage stamp, this is going to take some thinking....
Thanks for all the hugs and support. I couldn't post much with the Mothra Twins attacking all and sundry if I wasn't within reach, but every now and then, I peeked in.
Big hugs,
Dee

Madness, Messiness & Mayhem?
Yup, that's about normal. I just ran the vacuum in Gio's room so he can lay down in there. If that boy hadn't just come out of the hospital, he'd sooooo be in trouble. Crackers, crackers, far as the eye can see. I knew it was messy. I had no idea he was a hamster.

Glad Gio is home! I use to bribe DS with books and games all the time and even then sometimes it didn't work! He was (still is) deathly afraid of needles.
Sounds like he is all boy! My son's room is the same, but it's really hard to get on his case about it when he cleans the shower/tub and the toilets without ever being asked (I hate those jobs!).
Hope the girls figure out night from day soon! That has got to be really hard on you and your DH when they don't want to sleep at night!
Hugs and prayers for you and yours!

(*peeks into room timidly before stepping in, hands clasped behind her, rocking on her heels*) Ummm...Queen Dee? Sorry to bother you, but, if you're not too busy, can you please point me to where any of the old crew might be hanging out? I know Figgy pokes her head in here somewhere every once in a while, and I'm pretty sure Esjai, Catherine and Sharon have fallen off the face of the earth, but I'm looking for a place to squat now and again.
Glad to hear G is back in the pink...the promise of video games (or the threat of the loss of them) usually gets MY G to do whatever I want. On the subject of the girls wreaking havoc...pen them somewhere safe and take a short nap right next to it. That was the only way I survived single parenthood w/ my two! Now I tell hubby to drop them off at the mall w/ $20 each. LOL
Stay safe, sane and singularly fabulous!
