Question: tire kicking/copy paste

Where's the best place to kick tires?
Some of the emotcons make little sense to me.
I alway copy and past from my word processing doc (not Word) and past into the comments box. Why do I have to open yet another window and past into that and then insert? Seems like too may steps or making something simple more complicated.

Question: Italics

Will all the comments come out in italics? Italics are harder to read than plain text and should be saved to emphasize of a statement.

Question: copy/paste-insert

Well, I tried the insert thingy but it didn't insert the text I copied to it. However, this time when I tried to paste directly into this box it worked. It didn't work in the first comment above.

Just testing one thing

to see if there's italics still

Question - organizing a benefit

Anyone have any clue about organizing a benefit?  More specifically it would be a local concert to benefit a family with high medical expenses.  The way my stories plays out this benefit would need to be organized and excuted within in about two or three months.  Is this possible?

Thanks in advance.

Sandy

Sandy Sue,

Absolutely...you'd need to think about location, is there a singing group or groups as a headliner?  Food at so much money per plate, raffles at $1 per ticket, or big ticket items raffled at $5 to $10 dollars a ticket, auctions, whether silent or otherwise...It's not uncommon for an event like this to generate 5-10K.

We've done thinks like this in our small town many times...

What questions do you have...two -three months is a very doable time frame...

Ronda

Thanks!

Thank you so much Ronda :)  You are truly a life saver.  I need to get my notes organized but I will probably have more questions.

Sandy

One question I do have is

One question I do have is do these type of events need to have permits or special permission from the city?  Or does that depend on the location?  The event will be hosted on private property if that makes any difference.

Thanks!

Sandy

Totally depends on the

Totally depends on the location, but it is not unusual to require a permit.  If it is a large program - especially an outdoor program or one that will sell alcohol, a permit is going to be likely.

Does anybody know what those thingies are called?

What's the generic name for a Blackberry?  Preferably, I'd like a single word for it, rather than a full-blown description ("handheld personal computing device" takes up too many words LOL!)

Thanks!

A blackberry?  Like a

A blackberry?  Like a kleenex.  LOL

They are often referred to as "Smartphones"

or PDA's  ...... not all "Smartphones" offer the same as a Blackberry  .... and not all PDA's offer cellular use

check out a few "cellular" provider's webpages for the types of phones they are selling  .... "Blackberry" is a specific type of cellular enabled PDA  ... don't know if they call it anything shorter

Cool

I'm gonna go with Blackberry, then, 'cuz when was the last time you ever heard anybody ask for a facial tissue? Wink

Blackberry

I got away with "Blackberry" in my current Presents release.

Technically, you're not supposed to use it, as it's a brand name...but there are bigger things to worry about when you're writing a draft.  If I had to, I think I'd use "PDA" and make it clear from the context what it can do, if it's important.
