Editorial Advice: Submitting To Mills & Boon

Be patient! We will advise you of our reading-and-reply time when we acknowledge receipt of your manuscript.

Be prepared to accept feedback. If a manuscript shows promise, our editors will write to you with comments on how to improve your manuscript, or your writing generally. Accept this feedback gracefully! Revision is an essential part of the editorial process and necessary if a writer is to learn and grow.

One manuscript at a time. It is not a good plan to bombard us with manuscripts, in the hope that one of them might suit. Look at each manuscript that you write as a step towards your goal of being published. Therefore, it deserves your time and focus, as does any feedback you might receive. Allow yourself space to fully develop ideas, live with your characters and feel their highs and lows, and deliver a unique romance that will satisfy readers the world over.

We wish you the very best of luck with writing your Mills & Boon novel – enjoy!

SUBMITTING TO MILLS & BOON

  • Submissions should be typed in double-spacing on single-sided paper.
  • Please submit the first three chapters of your novel: we judge as much by writing style and ability to generate characters as by execution of plot.
  • We’d also like to see a 1-2 page synopsis of your complete story. This should give a clear overview of the overall conflict, setting and the characters.
  • Please send your hardcopy submission to:
