Name That Category!

Learn your targeting skills by taking on a series of blurb challenges---identify the most and be the envy of your peers!

For the purposes of this Richmond UK month, we're only going to use the lines that they produce:

Use the links above to get to know the line. Then we'll be posting a series of book blurbs. Test your knowledge of the line and see how well YOU can target!

The First Challenge!

Read the following three blurbs and identify which line they are written for:

1) Jennifer's heart went out to new neighbor Noah and his three little kids. Their mother had gone missing a few years before, and the single dad was struggling. All Jennifer could do was be there for them and bring love and laughter to their troubled lives. And, when the truth finally emerged, help them get over their loss.

For so long the attraction that simmered between Jennifer and Noah had been denied. Now, out of the blue, came a proposal of marriage. But was it because he loved her—or because he needed a stand-in mother for his children?

2) Sparks fly when Dr Matt Calder comes to the busy paediatric A&E department. Charismatic, revered and notorious, he’s captured the hearts of many – except for Dr Abby Byford.

Until she discovers the real Matt Calder, who is lovingly caring for his niece and nephew – and instantly falls in love. As Abby supports him and the children Matt discovers why this wonderful woman is so reluctant to allow love into her life. He knows he must convince her that treatment is available for her infertility, and that whatever happens he can give her all the love and family she needs.

3) Greek billionaire Damon Latousakis is claiming a mistress—the same woman he exiled from his life four years ago. Charlotte Woodruff has never forgotten her heartbreak when Damon wrongly accused her years ago. But how much longer can she keep their child a secret? When Damon finds out he has a daughter, his demands take a different turn: he paid for a mistress, but he'll leave with a wife!

Oh! Oh! OH!!!

Let me guess!  Laughing

I have to second the above guesses.

WTG Katherine!!

Excellent work!! Those books were A Mother in a Million

by Melissa James, The Doctor's Longed-For Family

by Joanna Neil  & Bought for Her Baby by Melanie Milburne; respectively. :)

Now onto the next selection!

1) A night of unsurpassable passion…

Penniless and widowed, Sienna has caught the eye of the one man who can save her—Italian tycoon Garett Lazlo, who can't resist her beauty. But cold-hearted Garett doesn't do anything for nothing, no matter how desirable the prospect. He offers Sienna a ruthless deal: he will help her, but she must play by his rules—by giving herself to him totally for one night of unsurpassable passion….

2) His unconventional bride!

Will Radcliff is the perfect English lord. He's handsome and honorable, but a stickler for convention. And he's just inherited Elmhurst Hall.…

Rebelling from her stuffy, controlled upbringing, Josie has never followed the rules. She's a waitress at the stately home, and is like a breath of fresh air. But her new boss, Lord Will, thinks she's nothing but trouble!

Then one moonlit night, Will and Josie share a kiss which, for a moment, makes them feel not so very different after all.…

3) Sheltered and naïve Carly Tate is out of her depth. Dark, dangerous Lorenzo Domenico isn’t only her mentor and tutor this year, he’s also the first man to make her heart race. But she knows the gorgeous Italian will never see past her frumpy clothes, awkward shyness and embarrassing innocence.

…she’s his for the taking!

Little does she realise that, to Lorenzo, sweet, endearing Carly is a breath of fresh air. He’s also convinced that underneath her disastrous fashion there’s a voluptuous figure to die for – and he wants to make sure he’s the one to discover it…

Wee-eell…

All I had to do was calculate how much the hero would have annoyed me.  After that, it was easy.

BTW, don't you like me any more?  I have been waiting for you to accept me as your "friend" for an age. Wink

#2 is not historical romance

I believe Frenchie said that #2 was Historical romance.

It is not.It is Fiona Harper's English Lord, Ordinary Lady and is Harlequin Romance. It is a contemporary. and it is absolutely melt  worthy....

Oh Ack!

First, Michelle's right! I slipped that one in there as a trick question and got tricked myself! The titles were as follows:

1) One Night in His Bed

by Christina Hollis

2) English Lord, Ordinary Lady

by Fiona Harper

3) Laying Down the Law

by Susan Stephens

And FF, actually, I never got the invite. I went and added you, though!

Hugs,

New Approach!

Sorry for the delay. Got sidetracked!

Okay, let's try a new angle. Figure out the titles--without looking them up!--and guess which line they are in.

1) A Woman To Belong To

2) Twins for a Christmas Bride

3) Her One and Only Valentine

Dee Tenorio
"The real art of conversation is not only to say the right thing in the right place, but also to leave unsaid the wrong thing at the tempting moment."

Oh Dee !!

This is easy as I have all three!

1) A Woman To Belong To --- the "To Belong To" part is a bit of a red herring as that has been apart of many of the Romance line  .... but this one is Fiona Lowe's Medical that's out right now

2) Twins for a Christmas Bride  ----- this too, seems like a Romance ... but it's also a Medical, this one by Josie Metcalfe

3) Her One and Only Valentine   ----- huh! .... finally one that's actually a Romance by Trish Wylie (I just ordered this one) ..... though from the title it could be a Modern as well

that first one is really a red herring title ..... I read it over and over again thinking "I know that one" ... and I kept thinking back to a few Romances from 2006 .. Natasha Oakley's A Family To Belong To  and Susan Fox's Husband To Belong To  ... and then there it was staring at me in my box of new medicals! .... Laughing

Very gooooood!

I was looking for purposely misleading titles, lol. (Not sure if innocently opening your box counts as looking them up, though, lol)

Good work, Katherine!

Okay, I'll go find some new challenges!

"The real art of conversation is not only to say the right thing in the right place, but also to leave unsaid the wrong thing at the tempting moment."

Let's Try This

I'm going to paste in three titles and three blurbs. Match the correct blurbs to the correct titles!

 1) The Playboy's Plain Jane

2) The Italian's Seduction

3) Rescued by the Sheikh

a) When photographer Lisa Sullinger injures herself while exploring alone in the harsh desert of Moquansaid, she thinks it's pretty bad luck. Then a sandstorm strikes!

Handsome, enigmatic Sheikh Tuareg al Shaldor shelters Lisa in his desert tent before whisking her to his stunning, palatial home.

Lisa can't help but fall for Tuareg—but she knows he has built barriers around his shattered heart. Can Lisa dare to dream she might be the one to bring light—and love—back into the brooding sheikh's world?

b) It sounded like heaven: an apartment in a small Italian town—the perfect summer escape. But after a number of setbacks, Charli Olson finds herself stranded, with nowhere to go—until gorgeous Massimo Castellini offers her a room in his luxurious villa.

Massimo finds Charli's blond prettiness hard to resist. Although he's vowed he'll never love again, he amuses himself with her seduction. But Charli surprises Massimo with her strong will. Suddenly the casual affair becomes a dark battle of desire—which Massimo fully intends to win….

c) Good-looking and confident, sports hero Dylan McKinnon simply has that indefinable thing that makes him irresistible to the opposite sex.

Florist Katie Pritchard knows all about Dylan's effect on women—he's her best customer! And the wary divorcée is captivated by his charm, in spite of herself.

They seem an unlikely couple. They are. But Katie realizes there's more to this playboy than meets the eye.…

A perfect partnership?
