If so, please tell us the following:

• Date you submitted:
• To whom you submitted:
• How long you've been waiting:
• Full, partial or query letter:

As extra incentive, we congratulate ourselves on each hard earned query send off and month waited with these Cyber Rewards.

Fixable stuff

Good writing day today.  3345 words.  Of course a lot of them will be crap, but I can fix crap.  :-)  Of course I might need to polish the clockface and reacquaint myself with GMC...sigh.

Yay to Dee and Avery and welcome to Johnny.

Oh, and if anyone is curious, I redesigned my site finally. Sigh. I just love butterflies! Alas, this is also edits week and Open House is kicking my butt--which is why I've been sparse here--but I wanted to be sure y'all got the new room you needed.

Here's hoping it has some good luck in it because it was born on a release day. :)

Congrats Dee and Avery :)

Good news & welcome

Hey Johnny - I hope I got your name right as I'm having memory blanks right now! Welcome, and I agree, nice to have a man in the room :)

Just had a spot of good news, this seems to be a good week for me. I pitched a ms to Melissa Jeglinski of The Knight Agency at our conference back in August, and she requested the partial. She just emailed me to ask for the full as she's interested! This is the same manuscript that I just did revisions on and sent back to the Romance line. Wriggling with excitement right about now!!

Yay on the word count Donna. Crap is what they fertilize ribbon-winning crops with y'know, so its ok. Even regular crap has to be mixed and fed to do the right job. Lol

Off to check in a little more before I try to make up for no work yesterday. I blame hubby and little bro for dragging me all over St. Louis.

Well done Ladies on all the good news!

Once I have finished my work for the week I am going to go over to that other publisher's website and buy the new releases on offer.

K

Great news

Avery! You go girl!!!

Steph - I didn't realise anyone on subcare was with MJ. Thanks for the offer to get in touch . . . might take that up if I have any questions :) To be honest I was quite nervous of her at conference, she had that hard as nails businesslike agent thing going on! But then that's why I liked her too, if that makes sense.

Soraya

WAY TO GO!!!!

Congrats Dee and Avery!!!! I've been grooming my one of my own stories for the other place as well!!!! Hopefully I'll be as lucky too!

Starting off the holiday season on a good note...

Love hearing all of the good news on this loop. Hopefully we'll have a new sale for the new room. Wouldn't that be great???

Soraya, woohoo on the request!!! That's fabulous having an agent and editor interested in the same ms. Hope you take some time to celebrate. That's quite an achievement. *G*

Avery, huge congrats on the #8. You must be thrilled.

Dee, loved the butterflies and the new website. Congrats on your release too. Loved the disclaimer!

Okay, I have to head back into my revision cave. I'm finally getting somewhere with these revisions. Someone opened my eyes to some of my weaknesses in a way that made sense to me and I'm trying my best to overcome them. Wish me luck.

I love the layout of your site, Dee, and the covers - woo!  So intriguing.

Congrats Avery on making top ten over there.  Talk about sexy!

My fingers are crossed for you Soraya - and toes and even eyes on occasion  :)

Three days since my submission for an anthology at that other site.  Should know something by the 16th.  The days can't go by fast enough.  At least the muse has decided to sit on my shoulder again.  She's been knocking at my brain since late last night.  Will have to give into her tonight or suffer some major brain bruising.

Packing up the 2 manuscripts

Later than I wanted, but less than 2 weeks. Michelle S. - I tried very hard to follow your getting ready to submit advice.  Thanks a billion!

Congrats Dee and Avery!

Question

Is it ok to ask in the cover letter if we can get a response by email?  Or should I just suck it up and enclose the SASE?

eSponse

Quinn, I'd look at the publisher guidelines.  If they say SASE, enclose it.  If they say they prefer to do email, then just be sure to include your email address.

And congrats Dee and Avery!

JT

Quinn

Good luck with your submissions!!!! Hope they love them. Now, since we're in a new room and I can't readily scroll back to look, are these submissions for contest wins or editor pitches or agent requests? So sorry I can't remember. I have so much info for my revisions stuffed in my head that everything is blurring at the moment. No matter what, I wish you the best.

Small towns...big romances

Hey, big good luck from me

Hey, big good luck from me too, Quinn. Knock 'em dead huh?

Thanks!

These are 2 fulls from a pitch at the NJRWA conference.  The story is a little convoluted.  One of the two was submitted back in May after a workshop, where ALT said she'd pass it on to Krista if she thought it was appropriate.  I never got the postcard back, and have since revised, so Krista told me I could resubmit and she'd talk to ALT about who would look at it.  Krista also has the beginning of that one from a contest.

The second one is fresh and new to Krista, though Diana V. saw it (and didn't seem impressed) from a different contest. But Krista liked the medical setting, so I have hope.

The books are also part of a 3 book series.  Let's just say I didn't make this easy, lol.

Quinn

Sounds great. You've got your foot through the door and with two stories too. Woohoo!!! I'll cross my fingers for you. Now, let the waiting begin. *G* I'll make room for you on the couch. I'm a little over 3.5 months on my revised full so we can wait together.

Small towns...big romances
http://www.JenniferFaye.com

Quinn

All my fingers and toes crossed for you - so exciting!!! Good luck with them both.

 Soraya

Thank you guys so much

I hope the 5 1/2 months I've waited so far is like time served, lol.

basic question...

Whoever has submitted would probably know..If we are planning to submit a brief or a bite..through email, what should be the content of the email ?

Name - full name or pen name or both? What if I want only my pen name ot be used everywhere?

Any publishing history - (in my case - none)

Author blurb? Is this needed before they choose us for publication ?

Synopsis of story needed ? Since its only 15K or less..If yes, then how long ? One paragraph, two ?

Word count?

Any help / suggestion is welcome :)

Good luck,

Good luck, Quinn!

 Ju--You asked:

Name - full name or pen name or both? What if I want only my pen name ot be used everywhere?

Until you actually have a contract, use your real name.  That's the name placed on the check, so you want the right one!  Don't worry about pen names until later.

Any publishing history - (in my case - none)

You can leave that out.  If you have any contest finals or if you're a member of any local writing groups, you could include that.  But whatever you're comfortable with.

Author blurb? Is this needed before they choose us for publication ?

No biographical blurb is needed, but I would do a short 3-5 sentence blurb describing the basic conflict of your story.  Think of it like the back cover of your book.  You can look at the Spice Briefs, Nocturne Bites, or Historical Undone descriptions for samples.

Synopsis of story needed ? Since its only 15K or less..If yes, then how long ? One paragraph, two ?

See above.  Nothing more than a paragraph blurb or so.

Word count?

Given that you're attaching the manuscript, I don't think word count is necessary as long as it fits the line.  I usually put all contact information: name, address, phone number, e-mail address, as well as the line it's intended for and the word count on the first page of the manuscript.

Laughing

Quinn

I don't know what other people's experience has been but I know that each time I submitt something the clock starts over. No credit for prior waiting. Frown In fact, I'll soon be going on two years of waiting for one story between the partial, full, and rewrites. If I were you, I'd drop your ms's in the mail and move on to a new project. You'll find as your excitement for the new project grows, you'll stress less about your submission.

Brilliant news, Soraya! *fingers tightly crossed here*

Definitely. Lots of room on this couch. The more, the merrier. *G* Good luck with your sub. Crossing fingers for you too.
