3 Ways to Sell by RWA

We're going to be at it again! You asked for a longer period of time to get ready for our pitches and you got it. So, since baseball season is in full swing, you're on the bench and your coach is looking at you and hollering "Be thinking about it!"

So, how could you possibly sell before RWA Nationals in San Francisco?

Reading Challenge: What's on Your List?

My friend, Diana Holquist, posted a reading challenge on her blog (http://blog.myspace.com/dianaholquist). I decided to take her up on it. The idea is that you post 12 books you're planning to read in 2008. She posted all romance, I'm not doing that because my romance choices tend to be based on my mood--I can't plan ahead!

Book Review Ratings

These are the Quiet Canadian's new Book Review Ratings. The changes are minor, but hopefully a little clearer for both the reviewer and the reader of the reviews.

Call for Action: Reduce Your TBR Pile, Shelf, List, Storage Shed...

I've recently come to recognize a serious (and growing) problem. I'm writing this blog as a Call To Action.

(My blog is excited. We're hardly ever serious around here.)

Reading by numbers...we can DO this folks!

book bag icon.bmp

So I'm sitting here at my desk and thinking to myself HOW am I going to galvanize the Community into going that extra mile and hitting our numbers this month? And I took down my handy dandy calculator (yup, be AFRAID folks) and I said to myself....hmmmm, let's see now. I know we have 2,601 Community members as of Monday (Thank you, Scott) and I know we have to read and review 100,000 Books.

So I took the 100,000 books and divided that by the number of available hands we have on-deck and guess what I came up with?

Christian reading problems

I'm reading an SH LI book that has been highly recommended by a lot of
people on this site and I'm struggling. It's a very good book and I'd
already be finished it but for one little problem, a little problem
that I seem to have had with all the other Love Inspired books I've
read since 2006.
The overt prayers still get my hackles up, so I had to keep

Janet's Keeper List (regularly updated)

This is Janet's list of KEEPERS.  I'm pretty picky about what I consider a keeper.  I've read probably at least 1000 HPs.  The books I list here are ones I highly highly recommend you check out, because I loved them enough to keep them around and re-read, when I hardly ever bother to go back for re-reads, since I have such a steady stream of NEW books I haven't read before.  Most of the books I list here will be HARLEQUIN line books: the lines I most often read (in order) are: Harlequin Presents, Silhouette Desire, Harlequin Blaze

Here you can find my keepers (fully reviewed & described), all in one place.

Still Reading but I've Been Away

My 17 y/o dd spent 17 days in the hospital and right now we are still pretty much homebound. I don't have computer access at home so I haven't had a chance to post any of my books. I can't read when I am stressed so I didn't get much read in the 15 days we spent in the hospital. I did read one book under the advice of my dd for the New to Me challenge - Romiette and Julio by Sharon Draper. It's a young adult book but I enjoyed the story. She has a long road ahead but she will be alright. Hopefully back to school next week with me back to work. Next time I get to computer I hope to catch up with my entries if only to list all my books read with ratings for now.
