This is the story of Nicole Keyes, owner of the family bakery, and Eric "Hawk" Hawkins, former NFLer and current high school football coach. Nicole catches a teenager, Raoul, stealing doughnuts from her shop and his coach, Eric, comes to the rescue, flashing his megawatt smile and drop-dead gorgeous good looks. He tries to charm Nicole into letting Raoul off the hook claiming it was his fault for not giving Raoul the money when he was supposed to. Nicole is having none of it and offers to let Raoul work off the money owed by working in the bakery before school and after practice. Nicole is hard on the outside but what the guys call a marshmallow on the inside. She outwardly resists Hawk's charms but can't help but feel the attraction.

Sweet Talk by Susan Mallery (HQN July 2008)

In Sweet Talk, Claire Keyes, a world-renowned pianist, returns home to help her sister, Nicole, while she recovers from surgery. There's the family bakery to run and all sorts of tasks to take the load off Nicole. The only thing is it seems that maybe Claire doesn't know how to do anything, except play the piano. Nicole has hated and been resentful of Claire for well over twenty years. And all her friends, including her former brother-in-law Wyatt know all about how Claire has done her sister wrong. Wyatt can't understand the immediate attraction that flares between him and Claire and he fights it as he is Nicole's best friend and how can he desire the enemy?

Loved it. Annie is stuck without a date to her family reunion so she decides to buy herself a date at the bachelor auction. She thinks she is buying a date with a rescue worker, she has no idea that Sean is a paid escort. Sean has become jaded being the playtoy of rich, hard, older women. When he realises Annie is none of these things, he knows he wants a woman for himself for the first time.
Just One of the Guys by Kristan Higgins (HQN 2008)

I just loved this book. It is written in the first-person, telling the story of Chastity Virginia O'Neill (yes, that's really her name - her father thought it would be funny, apparently). Chastity is the sole daughter in a family of 5. Her brothers are of the heroic, alpha-male type, firefighters, EMTs. etc. etc. Being one of the guys is what Chastity has known her entire life. She can drink beer, play pool, row and throw a punch with the best of them. She just has this wee problem with blood and gore... she faints. Definitely a wimpy thing for a fire captain's daughter.
