THE BLUE GIRL by Charles DeLint
A YA novel about a young Goth girl who sees a ghost in school and then starts seeing her imaginary childhood friend come to life as well. Evil is coming after her, and she needs to find a way to avoid the darkness. The story was a bit complex, and I liked it, but I got a bit confused as well.
A MOTHER IN THE MAKING by Lilian Darcy
Another appealing story. I like Jack and his hero complex a lot. The heroine’s sister was a bit exasperating and distracting, but the romance grew nicely. (MTH)
ALL NIGHT LONG by Jayne Ann Krentz
I enjoyed the relationship between Luke and Irene here—and his determination not to let her out of his sight! The suspense was strong and overall the story was very solid. I liked the interaction of the characters and if felt smart and fast paced. (MTH)
SLEEP SOFTLY by Gwen Hunter
I’ve enjoyed the author’s Dr. Rhea novels, and she makes a brief appearance here. The story, though, revolves around the Chadwick family and Ashlee’s involvement with a serial killer who seems to choose his young victims by a connection with the Chadwicks.
MURDER MELTS IN YOUR MOUTH by Nancy Martin
Another story in the Blackbird sisters series. Nora is dealing with a broken relationship, a friend’s perils and her parents return—and that is just half of the story! Though not necessarily my favorite of the series, it was fun. (MTH)
BOUGHT FOR THE FRENCHMAN’S PLEASURE by Abby Green
I really enjoyed this story, though some of the past “scandal” seemed a bit overdone. But the characters had plenty of passion and strength between them, and the story also covered numerous countries. (MTH)
CITY OF ASHES by Cassandra Clare
The second in the Mortal Instruments series. A number of the characters had some unexpected things happen to them, and I loved seeing Clary’s powers come into focus a bit more. One major plot point is still left unresolved, but I have some more hope that it might work out the way that I want it to!
THE ITALIAN’S PASSIONATE REVENGE by Lucy Gordon
The story was quite complex and had a couple of twists and turns I wasn’t expecting. I liked the interaction between the characters, the hero’s realization that his revenge wasn’t justified and the delayed resolution to the ending. (MTH)
WOKEN FURIES by Richard K. Morgan
Another Taki story. I liked it, though perhaps not as much as the other one I read. However, it did deal more with the consequences of those around you who live in sleeves and what memory and experience really is.
THE DEMETRIOS BRIDAL BARGAIN by Kim Lawrence
International is quite true here! A fun romp going through a couple of countries. The hero won’t believe the heroine didn’t throw herself at him, but that doesn’t stop their passion. Between a pretend engagement, twins and mistaken identity and lots of drama, it was an appealing story. (MTH)
