HOMESPUN BRIDE by Jillian Hart

I really enjoyed the launch titles for the Love Inspired Historicals line. They were very different in tone and style, yet each swept me away. In this one, there was a sweetness, innocence and hope that made me feel for the blind heroine and the man she'd loved and lost and had found again. There was no miracle healing--but the power of love and faith did bring miracles to this couple.

THE PERFECT SCENT by Chandler Burr

This was an intriguing non-fiction book about how perfumes are created. It goes through a year of creative meetings with Sarah Jessica Parker and Hermes as they search for the perfect scent to release into the market. We learn about smells and molecules and chemistry and marketing and how the art and the science are kept separate and yet must come together.

HIS MIRACLE BRIDE by Marion Lennox

This was a very emotional and heartwarming story of a nanny who thinks she's going to care for one child and ends up with five! The kids are spunky, adorable and heartbreaking and the hero is sexy, remote and trying to do the right thing. It's filled with some tender moments as well as a strong and growing romance as the hero and heroine each overcome secrets and pain. (MTH)

BOBBIE FAYE'S VERY (VERY, VERY, VERY) BAD DAY by Toni McGee Causey

I'd read a short story by Toni in the KILLER YEAR collection and it made me want more, so I picked up this book. And I laughed out loud throughout it in many places! Poor Bobbie Faye--her day started bad and then went down-hill. And the TV cameras caught it all on tape (in snippets) with her in an outfit she almost wished she could be caught dead in!

Midnight Jewels by Jayne Ann Krentz

It's another re-read, actually, but I was putting a bunch of JAK titles on my shelf and skimmed a lot, and re-read this one the most! I remember this as one of the first "big" sexy contemporary romances I read and how much I wanted more of them!

CHILD 44 by Tom Rob Smith

I'd heard some really good things about this book, and though I did enjoy aspects, I didn't enjoy it as much as I expected. I did keep flashing on that great and creepy movie Citizen X, and saw that the book the movie was based on was credited in the acknowledgements.

THE SEA OF MONSTERS by Rick Riordan

So I liked THE LIGHTNING THIEF so much I had to read the second book right away! Though I perhaps liked the first one a bit better, this was another very strong novel. More family issues came out, more sense of what's in store for Percy in the next few years, and a great twist in the end! (MTH)

THE LIGHTNING THIEF by Rick Riordan

I really enjoyed this take on the Greek myths, kids with dyslexia and ADD and the fun and excitement that comes as Percy uncovers the truth about his father. I can see why it's a big hit with kids, and I'm looking forward to seeing what the movie will do as well. It's simply a whole lot of fun! (MTH)

THE MILLIONAIRE'S INEXPERIENCED LOVE-SLAVE by Miranda Lee

There's a sense of what is destiny and meant to be, as a one-night stand spins into something more. Lots of passion and tension rise throughout the story as the couple comes to terms with who they are and why they are drawn to each other. (MTH)
