Sea Witch
The story of police chief Caleb Hunter and the mysterious Magred, a woman he encounters late one night on the beach.
I've always enjoyed Virgina Kantra's books, and this one, although the first of hers that I've read with paranormal aspects, I enjoyed just as much as all the others.
Eat, Pray, Love
A non fiction book about a woman who takes a year to travel and 'find' herself after a painful divorce. Set in three countries; Italy, where she eats wonderful food, India where she lives on an ashram and does lots of meditating, and Indonesia where she falls in love again. This was an interesting and thought provoking read. I enjoyed it.
Black Sheep
I always enjoy Georgette Heyer - her wit, her characterization - so I was very happy to be given a copy of this book. Even better was that it was one I hadn't read before, and even better than that was it was my favourite type of hero and heroine, the hero, careless of the world's opinion of him and the heroine, older and not expecting love to come her way.
Agnes and the Hit Man
Agnes, a food columnist, is trying to stage a wedding, save her home and avoid getting killed. Fortunately Agnes is a resourceful woman and she has the help of a very sexy hero, too. I always enjoy Jenny Cruisie's characters and writing, particularly her wit. Agnes, is now added to my list of favourites.
Force of Nature
Florida PI - Ric Alvarado and his assistant Annie Dugan get a whole lot more than they bargained for when they take on a case to locate a woman. Force of Nature has all the trademarks of a Suzanne Brockmann, great characters, sizzling attractions, suspense and heart stopping action.
The Soldier's Homecoming
This was my first Donna Alward book and I really enjoyed it. Jonas is the soldier who's come home and he's suffering from post traumatic shock. The heroine is Shannyn and then there's their child - the one he didn't know about. Once I got past her reasons for not telling him about the child, I really enjoyed the story. I'll definitely read more of Donna's.
Breaking Point
Breaking Point is Max and Gina's story set against an international background with terrorists and kidnappings and lots of other high drama. Great read.
Into the Storm
It's been a while since I've read a Suzanne Brockmann. This one is the story of SEAL petty officer Mark Jenkins and security expert Lindsey Fontaine. It's set, at least in part, in New Hampshire and involves a kidnapping, a serial killer and an untimely blizzard.
water for elephants
Narrated by a now elderly man, Water for Elephants tells the story of his days in a travelling circus during the Great Depression. I thoroughly enjoyed it, and read it in almost one sitting (staying up late to finish it).
Poison Study
I'd been meaning to read this book ever since I heard the premise about a woman who trades execution for life as a poison taster. It absolutely lived up to my expectations. Ms Snyder created a believable world and a compelling story.
