Reflecting on My ½ Way Mark & Rambling as Usual

I started this challenge all organized with goals and challenges and totals of how many TBR vs. new books I’ve read and acquired. Then life happened and all that went out of the window. Now I’m lucky to read and post a short review.  This is what my goals looked like at the beginning of the year:

  • Category Counter: Harlequin 47 ~~~ Other 27
  • Book Counter: 74/150
  • Book Goal: I read 127 books last year and I am challenging myself to read at least 150 books in 2008.

I'm Not Going to Make It

This is my first full day back of work since my dd has been sick. I'm not going to make it. It's 1:20 and I should be going home at 1:30, but I have to stay until 4:30 today. I knew this day was coming, but I'm ready to go home now. I haven't worked a full day since early March. YellCrySealedFrown

Why can't I work part time forever and get full time pay? Tongue out

Baby, I’m Yours – Karen Templeton (Silhouette Special Edition) Apr 08

Kevin Vaccaro just found out he was a father…of a five-month-old! He'd put up a hell of a fight to overcome his troubled past. That was nothing compared to the battle he was about to wage for his child's future.

Julianne McCabe had no intention of giving up her sister's child—the child she loved as her own—without a fight. Yet that was before Kevin started bonding with his daughter. Before he awoke feelings that made the grieving widow long to share more than late-night feedings. But was she ready to risk her heart again to be the wife Kevin needed? To become the family they both wanted?

My thoughts: Book 3 and happily not the last of the Guys and Daughters series. What started out as  trilogy has turned into a longer series.

When a Man Loves a Woman – LaConnie Taylor-Jones (Indigo) Apr 08

challenge_name:

Nursing administrator Victoria Bennett has soured on love. She has sworn off men; they bring too much drama and too much pain into her life. That is, until she meets pediatrician A. J. Baptiste, a single parent who is determined to woo her. A. J. will stop at nothing to have her, and Victoria finds her resolve put to the test...but is this a fight she really wants to win?

The Family Next Door – Jacqueline Diamond (HQ American Romance) May 08

challenge_name:

Josh Lorenz is the last man Diane Bittner wants for a neighbor—he's the holdout juror responsible for letting her husband's killer walk. But she finds herself outvoted when their preteen daughters conspire to bring their divided parents together.

Josh has always followed his conscience and hopes Diane can forgive him for doing what he believed was right. But he realizes he wants a lot more from the attractive single mother. With the help of their kids and their close-knit community, he and Diane have to decide what really matters. Reliving the mistakes of the past? Or planning their future—together?

My thoughts:  When I think of America Romance, Jacqueline Diamond comes to mind.
