Well, I've never met a Patricia Veryan book that I didn't love, and this was no exception. Full of swashbuckling heros, treason, adventure and, of course romance. No one writes romance like PV (am I biased here??) I always feel as if I am visiting with friends when I look inside a Veryan novel. Not my favorite Veryan, but excellent none-the-less.

AN ANGEL IN DISGUISE by Patt Marr

After reading Patt Marr's latest, I knew I had to find some of her backlist. This story from April, 2000, was not a disappointment and has found its way to my Keeper Shelf. Sunny and Pete meet on the Dream-Date show, both pretending to be something they aren't simply to get through the show.

WAR, PEACE AND ALL THAT JAZZ by Joy Hakim

This is book 9 in the History of US series. This one covers United States History from the end of WWI through WWII. Written to the reader, it includes many photos and source quotes. I've been working my way through the series and cannot recommend these books highly enough, whatever your age. One note: The books are currently on the 3rd edition.

Conceptual Physics by Paul Hewitt

Yes, this is a college Physics textbook, but I did read the book so I'm entering it for the NCFL Charity. It is actually a very well written Physics textbook "for non-science majors." It focuses more on the concepts and less on the math. If you want to study up on how things work-after all we are a technological society-this is a great place to start. Enjoy!

I picked this up at my public library and, not surprisingly since I've enjoyed the Hideaway novels, found another page-turner. Imagine my happy surprise when, while looking on the author's web-site, I discovered Steeple Hill will be reprinting this series summer 2009! Wah-hoo!

THE CALL OF THE WILD by Jack London / A YEAR DOWN YONDER by by Richard Peck

I'm combining these two because The Call of the Wild was just under the minimum word count! But it is, of course, the classic book ya'll read in school. As expected, I understood it much better this time around, but still didn't like the ending (sigh). A Year Down Yonder is an excellent, enjoyable read. It takes place in a small, southern Illinois town in 1937.
