Scandalizing the Ton

Personal Opinion - This could be called the sequel to "The Vanishing Viscountess" because it finishes the story of Lord Wexin who murdered a man and blamed the Viscountess for it. This is the wife's story and the consequences she had to face because of her husband's actions. The story is reported through scandalous tales in a newspaper that embellishes the stories.

The Deadliest Strain

4

Personal Opinion - To me this was a very emotional book about many people who were trying to discover the reason for the outbreak of a flesh-eating disease in the United States and the paths taken to discover the reason for the outbreak.

Fortune's Fool - Mercedes Lackey - A 500 Kingdom Tale - Book 3 - Luna Books - April/08

Fortune's Fool

Personal Opinion - Another great fairy tale by Mercedes Lackey. This was a good story about a seventh son and daughter who fell in love. In order to follow Tradition, the girl was kidnapped and had to be rescued by her lover so they could live HEA. As usual, the story was full of humor and adventure as all the creatures of Tradition tried to hinder or help the couple.

Keeping Annie Safe - Beverly Barton - The Protectors - Book 8 - Harlequin Special Releases - July/08

Keeping Annie Safe

3

Personal Opinion - This was another good, but older book in The Protector series. It is fairly fast-paced as Dane Carmichael and Annie Harden try to solve the murder of a reporter who worked for Annie. It is a story of betrayal and loss of trust as they gather the information needed to prove who ordered the dirty deed.

Backcover Synopsis - SHE WAS HIS WOMAN....

The Dark Viscount - Deborah Simmons - Harlequin Historical #918 - October/08

The Dark Viscount

Personal Opinion - It was good to read a book by Deborah Simmons as it's been awhile. This was an interesting story about a house near the moors that was thought to be haunted by the people of the area. It was inherited by two young people from a great-aunt. According to legend the house had been built by a man who had embraced Druidism and was still used for this form of worship.

Knaves's Honor - Margaret Moore - D'Averette Sisters - Book 3 - HQN Romance - Janurary/08

Knave's Honor

4

Personal Opinion - This was a great conclusion to the stories about the D'Averette sisters. Elizabeth is the youngest sister and the one most likely to get herself into scrapes because of her adventurous nature. She is kidnapped at the beginning of the book and then rescued by an outlaw who happened to be in the neighbourhood.

Son of the Shadows - Nancy Holder - The Gifted - Book 3 - Silhouette Nocturne #46 - August/08

Son of the Shadows

4

Personal Opinion - I really enjoyed this book once I figured out that it was the third book in a series not the first. The author's creation of a world filled with three noble houses of Gifted(magical) people who lived in the world of the Ungifted (non-magical) people along with werewolves and vampires was amazing. The story of the fight between good and evil was well done.

Bodyguard Father - Alice Sharpe - Skye Brother Babies - Book 2 - Harlequin Intrigue #1082 - August/08

Bodyguard Father

3

Personal Opinion - This was a much faster moving book than the first book in the series. Garrett Skye was presumed guilty when the person he was guarding was killed by a car bomb. The book followed Garrett and Annie in there quest to find clues to prove Garrett's innocence all the time trying to avoid the police and an assassins sent by an unknown person.

The Lawman's Secret Son - Alice Sharpe - Skye Brother Babies - Book 1 - Harlequin Intrigue #1076 - July/08

The Lawman's Secret Son

2

Personal Opinion - This was a rather slow-moving story with many apparently random acts occurring that pointed the finger at a man who had lost both his children the year before. The conclusion was totally unexpected and surprising. It was quite well done.

Backcover Synopsis - MEETING HIS SON WAS A DREAM COME TRUE.
LOSING HIM WOULD BE THE ULTIMATE NIGHTMARE.

Blood Rites - Jim Butcher - Dresden Files - Book 6 - Roc Books - August/04

Personal Opinion - This was a good story about Harry Dresden and his fight to save Chicago from the ravages of the Black Court as well as protect a film producer from a magic spell that is killing woman who work with the man. In the book, an interesting tidbit about is mother is revealed that is quite a surprise.
