Storm Front

I loved this show on Sci Fi but I hadn't read the books.  I've heard around from other writers that the show was good but the books were great.  So I decided to pick one up.  Storm Front is the first in the series and I have to say that it was very good.  And I enjoyed the ability to compare one to the other and they are both quite well done.  I liked it.

Spying in High Heels

challenge_name:

This is the first High Heels Mystery.  Of course I love it in that it's hilarious and clever.  I had a little trouble with Maddie's refusal to just take the freaking pregnancy test.  Not a spoiler it's the first freaking line and onward.  It drives me nuts.  I  just keep screaming, "Just take the gosh darn test."  But other than that one bizarre thing this is as fun as the other b

Overall I just loved this one.  Bevarly is actually a hit or miss for me.  Sometimes I really love what she does and sometimes I want to give her characters a kick in the seat of their pants.  This one sort of does both, lol.

The Reluctant Miss Van Helsing

At the begining I will be the first to admit there was a certain charm about this book.  The idea was cute and seemed fresh at first.  But the execution was teeth grinding.  There are constant uses of apropos to nothing modern and pop culture references.  Elvis songs, commercials, you name it this book uses them as catch phrases.  It's, of course, supposed to be cute.  At first it was surpri

Nobody But You

I've read this book before but it's been years so I decided to try it out again to see if it needed to go to my RWA chapter or unto my keeper shelf.  Jacey is a flake but she's a loveable flake and that subtle hint of nuttiness is part of her charm.  I'm loving David.  He's so awesome.  Nice and steady and full of Dashiell Hammet style musings in his head.  He's nice to his wonderful aunt who

Small-Town Secrets

This is another one where I've essentially forgotten what on earth this book is about by now.  I can't really say.  I recall liking her children and her father but I can't remember the MC's or the plot.

Shiver

This isn't that riveting of a romance.  It sort of just skims around it to me.  However, it's a terribly compelling mystery.  I liked Abby and Montoya.  Both are likable and believeable.  Abby's inability to let go her mother's past is poignant and understandable.  Montoya is as tenatious as a bulldog but, like, less slobery.  I could have used a little more love but the rest of the book ma
