RSS Feeds: Anybody Notice Yet?

I'm wondering if anyone has noticed the new RSS feeds in the community.

We've added a number of dynamically updating news feeds to let you suscribe and receive updates on your favorite areas of the site. We've also included some background information on the feeds and how you might use them.

You can find out more on the RSS main page

If you've found them and have comments, post them here. If you've found them and don't know what to do with them, just post a question below!

Noticed them

but when I click on them, all I get is a window with code and what's in the thread in question, and it doesn't update my google RSS reader at all.

So I'm obviously doing something wrong, but you've got other fires to put out, I can wait a couple of weeks until things settle down and get someone to explain it calmly then

Hopefully my brain will be capable of understanding it by then

re: RSS feeds

Thanks Scott!  The RSS Feeds will help me sneakily check the newest blog posts from work...uh, don't tell anyone I said that...

Sadhbh, I added the Book Challenge feed to my Google Reader and it worked just fine...like you, I just clicked on the orange RSS logo and it put me through to Google, so I don't know why it's not working for you...doesn't sounds like you're doing anything wrong.  Good luck!

I noticed them

I noticed them.  When my dh and I recover from being under the weather, I might use them.  Right now I have sooo much email that I can't take anymore but I am thinking seriously of using them when I settle down more into the 2008 Challenge and am up to full speed.

I'm using them, but...

Yes, I've noticed and I've subscribed to start getting the Book Challenge. I'm v. excited about it, but it doesn't seem to be working right. I asked it to check every 1 day for updates, but I've only received one update since I subscribed last week. Yes, there have been plenty of postings every day in that blog, so why am I not seeing my RSS turning orange daily? Are there other settings I have to change?

is there something we need to do in the "profile" settings?

Refresh

If you are using the Internet Explorer 7 you may need to refresh the display of your feed. You can just hit F5 when you are viewing the feed and it shoudl reload with the most recent posts.

It looks like the RSS feed reader built into IE7 has a refresh problem. If you're adventurous, try using Firefox. It has feed reading build into it and it's very convenient.

Scott, Firefox is out here at the office .......

I thought perhaps it was a problem with IE7's reader, but I signed up for a Google Reader account and subscribed there, and I"m still not receiving new content

is there anyway you can post a screen shot of what eHarl's content will look like on the Google Reader?

what happens for me, is that the header of the forum discussion will appear only .... is that what's supposed to happen? ... in order to see if there is any new content I have to click on the discussion and that brings me to the website .... so what value is RSS feed?

if you could perhaps subscribe to some of the Forum discussions and then post a screen shot of what is supposed to happen, that would be most helpful .....

I have subscribed to CNN, and a lovely list of the new content comes up, with a brief blurb on the new content .... that's not what is happening with my eHarl feeds

Thought I'd try RSS feeds again ......

I unsubscribed to all the eHarl feeds

I decided to subscribe to the Book Challenge blog

not a problem, I subscribed using Google Reader ..... it worked! ...... or sort of  .... all the items in the feed are dated today 12:29PM (EST) ...... I click on refress and nothing happens

also, can we have the individual discussion with the Forums tagged for RSS feeds ..... for example, in the Book Buzz forum, I wish only the discussion for "eHarlquin.com and Reader Service questions"  and the "Ask Lorie"

We should have that in place and working by early next week.
