Harlequin Podcasts - The story behind the story.
Contrary to how newfangled they sound,
Harlequin Podcasts are simply a fun,
modern twist on the timeless appeal of
radio interviews.
They're easy to dowload, easy to listen
to and easy to pause and rewind.
They also offer Harlequin a unique
opportunity to give you the story
behind the story, and for free.
Each month, we'll publish a new podcast episode featuring interviews with your favorite authors, behind-the-scenes Harlequin information, writing tips for aspiring authors and so much more…
Episode #7 - This month's feature - An Author Spotlight with Susan Wiggs.
And many more to come.

I'm glad you set up a separate thread for these ........
I've really been enjoying the Podcasts

Hey, Lorie ......
I really do need to get some speakers for my ipod ..... at home I can just plug it into my computer to listen ... but I don't want to do that at the office ....
I've scooped out a portible speaker over at apple, it even comes with a teeny tiny remote so I can have the ipod away from my desk and control the pause, and volume ....... need to add that to the Santa list! LOL
I love the podcast interviews ..... we need more!

podcast interviews
We do need more. We'll be getting one a month, for sure, until TPTB decide to increase the count.

More Podcasts!
As the voice (and brains? questionable) behind the Harlequin podcasts I wanted to pop in and tell you a little about what is upcoming -- and love to receive feedback!
The author spotlight series is now on a reliable schedule of 2 podcasts a month. Live now is a really great interview with Susan Wiggs author of Snowfall at Willow Lake.
I recorded Christine Rimmer about 2 hours ago --and her podcast will be live on February 11. Her February SSE is Valentine's Secret Child, another of her fantastic Bravo family books!
Then for March books are Heather Graham (Feb 25) and Rhyannon Byrd (March 10). Heather has the two "Dead" books -- The Dead Room and The Death Dealer. And Rhyannon is starting a new trilogy in Nocturne, the Blood Ties trilogy. They're hot and intriguing!!
There's more! Brenda Joyce, A Dangerous Love (March 31) and Gena Showalter, The Darkest Night (April 28). Plus I am busy lining up many more authors to chat.
Who would you like to hear on a podcast?
Meet the Editors podcasts
First I wanted to give a big shout out to Jayne and her board hosts for this great new community! It is just awesome!!! Now that I am finally here I may never leave.
For those of you who are interested in writing a romance novel, we are going to launch a brand new series of podcasts in midFebruary called Meet the Editors: Insider Tips on How to Get Published by the Editors of Harlequin and Silhouette.
How great is that?!!
Each podcast will center on one series, example Silhouette Desire. It will feature the senior editor and an acquiring editor for the series talking about the series promise, what they are looking for in manuscripts and writing advice. If you can't meet an editor face to face at a conference these will be the next best thing.
I'll post again with the schedule and live date.
Hi Malle!
Thanks for the update! ..... I'm really enjoying your interviews .... just the right length and with some really great authors ... iTunes just downloaded the Susan Wigg interview, I'll be listening to that tomorrow at the office
I'd love to hear an interview with Gayle Wilson ... and be sure to ask her if she has any more hunky Phoenix Brotherhood agents in the works .... gosh, I miss that series ... sigh
And I'd really like you to ask Linda Howard why she didn't give all the MacKenzies a story ... she really ought to have ...
there are so many truly wonderful authors .... I'd love to hear Natasha Oakley ... I've read all of her books now with the exception of her Niroli contribution (I'll read that with the series) .... I think Natasha is a bright and shiney new star and just would be tickled to hear an interview now before she becomes sooooo famous, as I'm sure she will ...
there's a start!

Ask and ye shall receive...
Hi Malle, fabulous to see you.
You know, you just named some of my favorite authors. I've not read Rhyannon yet though, I'll have to pick one of her books up.
I downloaded the Susan Wiggs podcast this afternoon, but I haven't had a chance to listen to it yet.
How cool are the editor podcasts. That was also a fantastic idea and I'm sure word will spread fast.
LOL Katherine, trust you to be the first member in here to respond... Nice start to your author picks.
I'll have to ponder the question, there are so many wonderful authors.
Add some SPICE to your life.
Authors for podcasts
Thanks Katherine T for your author suggestions and questions! I will put them on my list of candidates.
Happy to receive more recommendations!
Meet the Editors podcasts
Are live now!!! The first one features Melissa J and Diana V of Desire. If anyone wants to write for Desire they absolutely have to listen to what the editors say.
There will be a new podcast every second Wednesday.
Harlequin Podcasts
I just saw this mentioned in Publishers Lunch then read a press release about it on Yahoo. It's a fantastic idea! And because this first editor podcast is by MJ and Diana I'll pop on over to the Desirable thread and mention it there.

Malle if you're popping in .....
I just wanted to say how much I'm enjoying the podcasts ..... esp. the ones where the editors are joining in ....
I'm not an aspiring writer, but I like the Editors' descriptions of the lines, where they are going, and their impressions of some of the authors and their books in the line .....
the podcast with Susan Grant and Susan Krinard also had Tara Gaven, the Exec. Editor of Nocturne .... she was marvelous at describing what Nocturne is and her descriptives of some of the books and series within the imprint have really been an encouragment to me to try the genre ...... she made the books sounds so good, much better than any book blurb could
I'd love to see, perhaps twice a year, an brief Editor's pic type of podcast .... she could give the heads up on new continuities or author mini-series ... and tell us about the new voices debuting ..... those would be marvelous tools for promoting the lines ......
looking forward to the next podcasts!

Hi Katherine. I agree, her description is infectious. I'll be sure Malle gets to read this post, even if she doesn't get a chance to pop in.

Great Idea, Katherine T!
Thanks for your comments and suggestions. Yes, I agree that even if you don't plan to write for a series, hearing the editors speak about their series gives you insights and will make you want to read specific books. I love the editor's picks idea and will put it into my plan! not sure when this will happen but it's a great idea.
One of my favorite podcasts is the TV podcast recapping and discussing last week's television. I would love to do something with readers and editors but haven't worked out the concept. If anyone has ideas please share!
Hi Malle!
You are very welcome!
Jayne was asking for ideas on how to "commemorate" Harlequin's 60th birthday next year, and this is what I posted on her thread .. "Calling all Collectors"
those are just some thoughts ... maybe they'll spark some ideas

Writing the bible
Call me crazy, but wouldn't it be fun to *listen* in on an editorial meeting where the editors are fleshing out the bible for an upcoming continuity?? It would be fascinating (I think) for readers to hear what decisions are made in terms of plot, setting, characters, conflict etc....and an interesting way to promote a new miniseries and build some buzz. You could even have readers participate by voting on some of the decisions made or author suggestions??
Just a thought....

What she said....
Hehehe, and then there was Katherine's really interesting idea about podcasts from readers around the world....

I like that idea Jayne!
I'm all for anything that will give us insights into the mini-series ... listening to a planning session sounds interesting ....
or even having podcasts from authors that are so prolific, like Marie Ferrarella ..... she writes so many books in a year ... I think she works on three series of her own plus a continuity .... how does she keep it all straight!?? ... and where do the fresh ideas come from?
