Sign Up for the 2009 Book Challenge!

The members of the eHarlequin Community thought it would be fun to challenge each other to read more and to share the books that they have read. In 2006, we started by challenging ourselves to read 100 books each in a year. In 2007, we kept our personal challenge and added the dynamic of Teams so that those who knew they'd be unable to read 100 books could combine their personal reading levels with others, and we challenged all the Challengers to read a combined 10,000 books. In 2008, we expanded this once more. The eHarlequin Community was asked to Team together as a whole and bring their friends and family. And we were challenged to read and add our books to the eHarlequin 100,000 Book Challenge and that for every book read, Harlequin would donate an equivalent number of books to the National Center for Family Literacy. Well, we haven't read our full 100,000 books yet! So Harlequin has extended this Challenge into 2009. We can keep reading, and for every book we read, an equivalent will be sent to the National Center for Family Literacy.
As an added incentive to our members, we are offering active participants in the Challenge a 10% bonus coupon each month for the eHarlequin Book Store and the eHarlequin eBook Store. This coupon is sent to registered participants each month in a newsletter dedicated to the Book Challenge.
You can sign up at any time during the year. There is no deadline. And if for some reason you feel you can no longer meet the commitment of the Challenge, you may request to be removed either permanently or for a period of time. You are always welcome to rejoin.
So, before you sign up take a moment and read our Guidelines and Rules. If after reading the rules, you would like to make a commitment to the Challenge, pop back here and sign up!
How to Sign Up as an Individual
- Send an email to ehqn09challenge@gmail.com with Sign me up for the 2009 Challenge in the subject line. Please send the email from the email address you wish to recieve the monthly Challenge emails in, I suggest this be the same as the email address you use to sign in to the Community. I require your Full Name (first and last); your eHarlequin Community Name
- Once you have sent your email to sign up, I ask that you post below to alert me that the email is on the way. This will serve as a double check for both me and you on when you registered. (Please do not post your email address or personal information here in the Community, this is strictly for private email)
How to Sign Up as a Team
- Every team member is required to email ehqn09challenge@gmail.com and sign up. Please put Sign up our TEAM for the 2009 Challenge in the subject line. Please send the email from the email address you wish to receive the monthly Challenge emails in, I suggest this be the same as the email address you use to sign into the Community. I require your Full Name (first and last), your eHarlequin Community Name, the Team Name, the Team's Leader, and a list of all the members who will be on the Team.

There are no advantages or disadvantages to being on or not being on a Team. Some Challengers like being on a Team as a way to cheer each other on, or to help encourage members who might not otherwise join the Challenge. Teams must have a unique name. Each Team Member is responsible for inserting their Team Name in the Tag section of a blog or a book review. Once an entry is tagged with the Team name, members of the Community may find that Team by simply clicking on the appropriate tag in the Tag Cloud located on the right side bar.
Once you have sent in your Sign Up email expect a reply back within a few days confirming that your information has been received and set up. Be sure to add ehqn09challenge@gmail.com to your email address book or contacts list. This will be the email from which the monthly Challenge emails will be sent. Sign up is usually a hectic time, so please include ALL the required information in your sign up email. The new email address is for sign up and monthly newletter purposes only. If you have questions about the Challenge, please post them to the appropriate discussion in the Book Challenge Forum or send a private email to me, Katherine-eHarlequin

I sent an email... I was wondering. Will the 2008 and 9 reviews be mixed? I mean, if I review a book in 2009, will clicking on the author bring me to reviews about that author's book made only during 2009, or will I also see reviews from 2008? And the same question with the tags....

Tags are universal to the entire Community .... so tags for 2008 and 2009 would be together in the mix ... there would be no separation .... I'm told that our reviews and blogs will all be available
