Keepers of the Flame by Robin D. Owens
The sorcerers of Lladrana have already summoned three women to help fight the evil attacking their world. Yet their fourth Summoning brings the unexpected -- twin sisters. And ones with strong tires to the Earth.
Both have a special gift to heal. But while Brigid Drystan has explored that gift through unorthodox means, Elizabeth had poured herself into getting a medical degree and denying her powers.
Now, Stuck in a strange Land, fighting a plague sent by the Dark to weaken Lladrana, they must use all their resources to save lives. And one twin will risk her own on an experiment that might doom them both...

Change
I see the change has hit, so be patient while I stumble through this and list my questions again for readers of Keepers of the Flame.
I REALLY want to know (in spoiler white)
I wanted to do a book where one twin returns to Earth. First, did any of you go back and forth wondering which twin that would be? Also, did the Raine story work for you and if so was it too much of a surprise?
Many thanks,
Robin
yay !
hey everyone
How do you like the new format? It will take a little getting used to. if you need anything just holler !
Where the posting number?
Love this new format and all the extra helps in posting and writing html without knowing html ^_^
However, I do missed the numbering

We hit a big pot hole the other day and it snapped our brake line. Now I can't convince my DH that it is necessary to put more break fluid in and hope it works long enough to take me to the book store. It works for taking our DD to school but that is less than a mile away. So, I guess I have to wait until we get our brakes fixed before I can go shopping. <pout>

Re: Which twin; Raine
I was so excited to pick this book up and I'm glad I read Mawrey's Song (online read- I think that's the right title) first. I enjoyed that story as well.
I went back and forth for a good bit on which twin would return to Earth. The only reason why I had any idea that it might be Elizabeth was because of Cassidy. And at the end I felt really bad for poor Faucon which is why I was even happier to see 'Raine' make an appearance.
I thought having Raine added was an excellent idea. If I recall the Seamasters in the past were a bit miffed that the Marshalls were the only one doing the summonings. Nothing that powerful would remain in just one set of hands in any world- so having the Seamasters make such a grave error was perfect.
I can't wait for Singer for a World in 2009- such a long time to wait <sigh>... LOL!

Loved Keepers of the Flame!
Robin, you did an excellent job weaving this story. I loved it. I had a pretty good idea which twin would choose to return home. She seemed more grounded with Earth and the life she would have had to leave behind. The other was more free and, IMO, had a deeper connection with the man of her choice in Amee. Sheesh, I miss the white font. Raine will be quite the interesting character in the next book, which is way to long to wait for. She was a surprise in the maonr of her arrival but I think it added a wonderful depth to the story. The shock factor added spice.
Sapph, please tell me that sometime in the future we will get the ability to change the font color again. It is very hard not to write a spoiler when you really want to discuss the book in depth.
Ame, email me please. If you don't have my email any longer, I'm sure Sapph would be willing to share it with you. I'm not sure if it is listed anywhere on my bio page. I haven't checked that part of the new layout out very well.

Hey Kim,
I am sure the color will be coming back.
Ame let me know if you need her email address...
Thanks
Wow, thanks. I'm always nervous about the release of my books, but Keepers of the Flame was written in such a different way that I really worried.
I tried to make you go back and forth as to which twin would stay or go. And since I wasn't able to devote a full book to the Seamasters (synopsis of Seamistress may someday go up on my website on my Worlds page), I'm pleased with Raine's story.
Robin
Another online?
Do you think your other twin story could wind up as another online ready like Marwey's story?

Twins Story
Ah, both twins' story were told and the previous book 5 of 6 is no more. I did put forward the option that it could be an e-read but that didn't fly...or sail.
So I revised the series and book 5 & 6 will have a new take on the characters.
The old book 5 synopsis might make it up on my webpage after the last book is published as an interesting item....
THANKS
Robin
Hi Robin
I get to pay a visit to Borders this weekend and am going straight for this book. i hope to get it read this weekend.... fingers crossed.
Mickey
Thanks Mickey
And, like, do you know there's a food in the book called "Mickey Potatoes?"
Haven't been here becaused I've finished Heart Fate and it's too long so cut cut cut!
Take care,
Robin
LOL
I laughed so hard when I read the elevator scene because I was thinking ahead and how happy the other exotiques were going to be with what the twins had with them.
Good luck with the cutting Robin!

Heart Fate is DONE
And I added a comment about a week ago that did NOT show up here. Which is a real pain.
I'm also a little disconcerted that the thread is so slow. Has anyone got their books from the book club?
Will double check this post.
Robin
Hey Robin
I haven't recieved a book yet from my subscription but I did buy one because I couldn't wait any longer. I've even shared the book and hopefully it has arrived safely to where I mailed it. I haven't discussed the book much because we can't hide spoilers until the get that color bug squashed and I wanted people to have a chance to read it before I ruined something for them. I'm ready to talk anytime but now I don't have the book to reference things. LOL

I have finished the book
I finished the book this afternoon. I loved it and I hated it. Does that make any sense? I felt so bad for a particular character that I cried! I don't know how to do the white font anymore, so I'm tyring to be vage here. My heart nearly ripped in half. I did however absloutely love what happened to another character. THey had to really work for what they wanted.
I'm ready to chat about the book when everyone else has had a chance to read it.
Mickey (I loved the Mickey potatoes Robin)
Mickey
The Mickey potatoes actually come from my Mom's friend Mickey who lives across the street from the house I grew up in. Sorry/Glad to hear you cried for my poor abused character.
Robin
I got it!
The book arrived safe and sound. It arrive just before the Chinese New Year celebrations beginning around my house.
To say the lest my favorite reading spot has be moved several times over since part of our tradition is clean the house before the new year. Let us just say that the house is super messy (with my dd's crafts which she can't part with because it would hurt her feelings) and there are a number of cleaning chores which we all like to avoid.
Started into the book a few pages but I haven't been able to grab a few minutes to myself to get to keep reading it.
I will try to fit it in-between cleaning and getting ready for Chinese New Year.
Ame ^_^
PS. Just realized that it is Chinese New Year Eve officially today, have a lot of food and catching friends to do. Goi Hay Fatt Choy to you all!

Finished the book
Wow Robin what a great story! I bounced around a bit on who would go and who would stay. But in the end I could see why the one choose to go back. Her reactions to her old flame keyed me into the possibility that things in Lladrana were of the rebound type. Raine, was a great surprise and I can't wait to see how she takes on the seamasters and a certain chevalier in the next book. And now I'm off to post my book review for the challenge.

Story Doing What I Want
Thanks, Missy. Then, I did what I needed to in the book to get your reactions right. The story is so large that I wasn't sure I, uh, played the Song right.
And we have an abundance of Rats, here, don't we? Excellent. I don't mind rats or snakes...

Just Finished Reading
I just finished reading KotF. What can I say, every book I read in this series is better than the last. Needless to say I now can't wait for the final book, but I am a little disapointed in that there will only be one more book. I think Raine deserves her own book and not to have her story cut down and squeezed into someone else's adventure.
Glad you liked Keepers of
Glad you liked Keepers of the Flame. I'm sorry Raine won't get her own story either, once the next book is out (think it's titled Echoes of the Dark), I'll put the synopsis of Raine's book up on my website you can see what the story would look like.

Cut Scenes Up On My Website
One of the original chapter 1s (more time in Colorado) and a scene with Koz that I loved, are up on my Worlds Page, Keepers of the Flame.
Enjoy.
smooches,
Robin
Thanks Robin :)
Thanks Robin :)
Echoes In The Dark DONE!
I just turned it in and I'm very happy with it. It isn't quite as long as Keepers of the Flame, in the range of the others. My mentor (Cassie Miles), likes it the best.
Also, chapter 3 is up on my website, and I'll probably put another cut scene up when I do my July update (currently exhausted).
Thanks,
Robin
