Header PromotionI think that every January is NATIONAL BOOK BLITZ month in the US. Last January was, and I checked online and it looks like this January is, too! (If you're hanging out here, I don't think you need to be American to feel like celebrating -- let's ALL celebrate!)
So, what will YOU do to celebrate? Read more books than you did last January? Read more books than you did in any single month last year? Read outside your normal genres? Get a non-reader in your life to pick up a book? Strive to read like Sadhbh? (Hey! That last one rhymes LOL! -- For those of you who don't know, "Sadhbh" rhymes with strive and five and chive and well, you get it.)
I'm NOT going to strive to read like Sadhbh! But I am going to read a bit each day. January is a bad month for me personally to try book blitzing it, but I wondered what you all who can book blitz will do?!

First of all, happy belated because I know I missed wishing you congrats on the day.
And if BUYING books counts, I'm helping. I just ordered the whole twilight series for a song. Plus 2 others for Christmas presents for next year. I love sales.
I am hoping to just read MORE all year long. I would love to eliminate my tbr. Or at least the ones in it now. The problem is I keep buying and putting new purchases ahead of ones on my shelf...

Year End Stats for '08? Did you see how well I did with my TBR? If you aim for 1/3 of your reads being from your TBR, you'll make some progress!! It was nice to re-discover lines and authors that I'd neglected for a year or two or three! Of course, that means I'm behind on my Jessica and Liz and Donna reading! :)

I like Tiffany's idea of reading authors that I've not read before ~ especially the ones
that are lurking in my TBR... so that makes a couple of challenges that I've got for
this year that I can work on in January. Cool!

I pulled
the Robin D. Owens Lunas out to get started on them. I am going to work hard this year on reading more than I buy so I'll have a few less books in my house. I'll tell my friends that don't read that they should read a book this month. We'll see how that goes?

I REALLY need to pare down the TBR...it's ridiculous and I'm trying to condense everywhere else in my life, so some of the books must go...but I can't get rid of a book I adore or have yet to read...there's only one way to fix that problem!

I think I'll strive to get my TBR pile down. I keep buying but reading is sometimes something I don't want to do after reading government info all day.
The other thing I want to do is keep on top of the book blogging (I got really behind last year).
Reading like Sadhbh? So not going to happen...!

Back to work tomorrow morning, but I had to spend the weekend housecleaning, and doing laundry and preparing a birthday deal for school for P, so I haven't even read 10 books yet this year
Can you imagine if I had to blog them too?

So, what will YOU do to
I will not attempt to read as more books in January then I did a year ago. That will put too much pressure on me right at the beginning of the year. I will encourage other readers and non-readers to pick up a book and read.
I will not strive to read like Sadhbh (yes, that has a nice ring to it). I'm in awe of her ability to read so many books, but I'm a blog as you go gal and reading like she does is not conducive to my approach to blogging.
I do want to reduce my TBR to a manageable number of books--that is going to take some doing as it has reached ridiculous proportions, but that is what I would really like to accomplish.
