"Heart Of Stone" by C.E. Murphy

Read With Sapphire:
"Heart Of Stone" by C.E. Murphy

Okay, so jogging through Central Park after midnight wasn't a bright idea. But Margrit Knight never thought she'd encounter a dark new world filled with magical beings—not to mention a dying woman and a mysterious stranger with blood on his hands.

Her logical, lawyer instincts told her it couldn't all be real—but she could hardly deny what she'd seen—and touched...

I just started this the other night...

It was one of the first ebooks I bought for my Axim, and enjoying it very much. I read another book by her, from a series, though I read it out of order... I can't recall the title just now, but love her writing style and heroines. :)

THE QUEEN'S BASTARD--May 2008!

Hi Catie

I really enjoy your writing style -- I remembered that the other book I read was one of the Walker books, and I keep meaning to get the other two, but only so many hours in the day... will eventually. :)

I love Margrit's name, the spelling, and "Grit" LOL -- great nickname. I was getting impatient for her to get together with Alban, but finally they got some more time together last night, so that was good, LOL. What an unusual hero! I can't wait to see what happens... the setup between Grit, Tony, and Alban reminds me somewhat of the set up on Moonlight, with Mick, Beth, and Josh...

Glad you reached the end... that's always a good feeling! :)

Sam and Catie,

I listen to Catie's books.  I haven't listened to the November release yet but I listened to the Walker Papers.  Will there be more?

Back to the audio. Sam, it really makes boring things go by more quickly -- housecleaning, driving to and from kids activities. Since I'm a member at audible, the audio was actually less expensive than the book (I think -- not gonna double check myself on that one!).

FWIW,

There will, indeed, be more

There will, indeed, be more Walker Papers--the 4th book is due out in May (or thereabouts) 2009, and I'm contracted for two more after that.  This year we're just taking a year off to put out the Negotiator Trilogy, and then it's back to Jo til the end of the series, I hope. :)

re: Heart of Stone

I just started this one today (only 70 pages in) and am loving it so far.

I agree with Sam about Grit as a nickname--very cute and clever. I keep going back and forth on how I feel about Grit as a character (not a criticism--she's quite believable and it's fun to "grr" at her a little) but I love the name. I'm also liking Cole, and am really intrigued by the plot so far.

I haven't read the Walker Papers books yet because, stupid me, I've misplaced Urban Shaman and don't want to read the others without the first one. I think it's at my parents' house...huge grr to that. I've really enjoyed the Cate Dermody Bombshells, though, so that's why I took a chance and ordered Heart of Stone once I saw it was a new series.

bombshells

Oh, it's so nice to hear you enjoyed the Bombshells!  I had such a good time writing those, and they didn't get a lot of response (the whole line in general, I mean, not just my books).  I hope the Negotiator Trilogy turns out to be something you like, too!

Oh, man, the Silhouette Bombshell line introduced me

to so many of my favorite authors!  Erica Orloff (under any name), Evelyn Vaughn, Cindy Dees, Catie (under any name), Kate Donovan, I can't even list them all.  And the added plus is that here in Texas we have an embarrassment of riches in published authors -- 8 of the SBS authors live here or have family here and several of us local readers and authors get together regularly to eat and talk books and family.  So not only did SBS give me some GREAT reading, it also bro't me new friends.

Maybe it's time to pull an SBS out of the mile-high tbr,

Catie, I think you`ll find

Catie, I think you`ll find a lot of Bombshell fans around here...many of us who did the 10,000 Book Challenge blogs last year were huge Bombshell fans (like Penn above!). Bombshell and Luna are what brought me to Harlequin, actually...I`m not normally a romance reader. I was very sad to see the Bombshell line go.

I read your first two Strongbox Chronicles and enjoyed them thoroughly...loved the atmosphere and twisty plots. I`m still saving the third one, along with a number of other Bombshells...reading them very, very slowly to make them last Smile

I finally finished Heart of Stone tonight (busy week!) and really enjoyed it (I adore gargoyles...didn`t know that was what the book was going to be about, so that was a wonderful surprise!). I`m glad to hear House of Cards is being released so soon!

Loved Heart Of Stone..

After recently reading the Walker Papers series I was thrilled to find Heart Of Stone.  It took me 2 nights to finish - I just couldn't put it down.  The various races, Grit's character and the story all tied together really well.  I pre-ordered the next installment (House of Cards) immediately.  I am so happy to hear there will be more stories in the Walker Paper series.  I have to order most of the LUNA books online as they take months to reach the stores here in Australia - and patience is certainly not one of my strong points......

Heads up Caitie

Lady Am posted a great review of your book.

Lady Am, I know there are a lot of Bombshell fans around here, but that doesn't make it any less wonderful to discover people are reading the books!  Or able to find them, for that matter! :)  It was a great idea for a line, and I'm sad that it had to be cut.  Maybe someday I'll have the time and opportunity to pursue the rest of the stories in the Strongbox world... :)

Man, you all make me feel loved. :)  I'm so happy people are enjoying the Negotiator books and that the quick release for them is anticipated eagerly. :)  I can hardly believe the next book will be out in six weeks...it's so *fast*, after being accustomed to a year's wait between the Walker Paper books!

I'm really glad there will be more Jo books, too.  I love writing that character, with all her flaws and pig-headedness.  And there's not a natural break between the end of the 6th book and the beginning of the 7th like there was between 3 and 4, so I'm hoping people will continue to like the series and buy 'em so I get to write all 9 books in it.  Hee hee hee. :)
