Diamonds Down Under: The Cut, Clarity & Cost of Family.
Set against the billion-dollar backdrop of the glamorous, but sometimes ruthless, diamond business. The series focuses on a family split asunder thirty years ago over ownership of a fabulous diamond known as the Heart of the Outback. The old feud is reignited when a new generation is forced to deal with secrets and scandals – and desire and deception – in the aftermath of a tragic plane crash.
The Series Begins with Book One:
Vows & Vengeful Groom by Bronwyn Jameson
His lover of ten months. His wife of ten days. His ex of ten years.
Ric Perrini, chairman of Blackstone Diamonds and Sydney's sexiest bachelor, still had one elusive prize to catch… Kimberley Blackstone. Luring her back to her estranged father's company, back to her birthright, would be Ric's toughest job ever. Luring her back into his arms, his most pleasurable. Ric had laid claim to part of Kim before; this time he'd accept nothing but her total surrender.…
Diamonds are forever...but what about marriage vows?

Welcome!
Welcome to our Diamonds Down Under thread. We DDU authors are very proud of this series and look forward to discussing our books here.
There's so much to talk about, not the least the chance to win prizes on our DDU website, like editor and agent critiques, or a telephone conversation with the senior editor of Desire, or a diamond pendant.
But more about that later. Again, welcome. And thank you to Jeanette for setting this all up for us.

Looking forward to
Looking forward to discussing the series! As soon as I have my copy of Bron's book I can start. I didn't realize it was a continuity when I bought Tessa's book and I'm anal about reading series in order. :-)
The D2K Paranormal Junkies
Continuity Series
Hi Kelley
We've really designed Diamonds Down Under as a series so although each book contains a stand-alone romance as well as the necessary background information, they do make a complete set with the continuity threads set up in book one continuing to develop through the other books...with lots of twists and turns along the way.
If you can hold off on Tessa's book -- and that must be hard, having it in your hands and NOT opening it! -- then do so.
My question to everyone: how do you like to read series books? Can you read one and wait a month until the next, or do you like to store them up and read in one go?

how i read series books
I am a fan of the read as they are released program.
If I try to hold out till the series is finished before I start them, lots of times the series go on forever! Or I start reading back to back and get tired of them and stop. So I read in order but as I can one by one. I hate the idea of possibly getting tired of them doing them all at once.
The D2K Paranormal Junkies
Series
I guess it just depends on what mood I'm in. I think I'm going to have read this series when they are released. Having said that there is a Presents series "House of Niroli" that I'm collecting all the books for and then will read.
I must read them in order, its a Virgo thing
. Also in a series I'd love to see the other characters to know how they are getting on. I do get a bit disappointed if I don't see them. LOL
I admit I get so involved in series that when its all over I'm sad
. I want to know if they are still happy today, more kids etc. I get to love the characters a lot.
And I really need to stop talking and get back to work *sigh*

Woohooo!
Morning, ladies!! And congratulations on the launch of the fabulous Diamonds Downunder Series.
I like to read the books in order, in this case, as soon as I get them! Bron, Vows and a Vengeful Groom was superb! The romance was wonderful (you create such fabulous heroes!), but this book was even more than that. VVG introduced an intriguing cast characters that I'm dying to meet again and get to know very well.
I should be receiving Tessa's book v soon. Good thing I have it on order, coz looks like this series is selling out fast in Australia.
And next there's Maxine's Mistress and a Million Dollars (did you purposely do the MMM thing? lol), then Jan's, Paula's, and a big climax with Yvonne's! Yes, I'm a little excited.

OOOH just want I need a chocolate fix! Thanks Robbie.
You lost your picture! I'm glad that we can order the books online too. It would be a big pain to wait until Feb when the series is officially released here in Aus.
Okay back to work. I'm just not motivated

Reading Books in Order
Nicki, I'm a Libran on the Virgo cusp, so I understand needing to read books in order.
And I do like to read each book as I get them rather than saving them for all in one go. There's nothing like getting one book, reading it then hanging out for the next in the series.
Robbie, I do so wish you had sold to Desire in time to join us for the series. Next one for sure!
And Robbie, yes, Bron's book is fabulous. I was re-reading it the other day and thinking to myself "Wow! She really has a superb way with words". And the emotion is there on every page. I was getting teary at some scenes, even though I'd read them before and knew what would happen.
As for the MMM thing in the title of my book "Mistress & A Million Dollars", I originally called my book "His Million Dollar Mistress", but MJ came up with the titles so that they would all match and I think she did a grand job. The titles are unique, just like the series.
Off to eat a Tim Tam.

LOL. Believe me, I'm having a great time being a reader on this one.
Yes, all the titles are fabulous. I read your blurb for MM and I can't wait to see how the "offer" unfolds.
Hey, Nicki!! I'm having a wee bit of trouble with my pic. I looked all squashed and tried to download another one, but I'm doing something wrong coz it keeps reverting back. But I shall persevere! <trumpet blows>

Adding a Photo
Robbie, I had trouble with my photo that kept recurring, even though I deleted it and started fresh. Then Ellen on the Desirable thread (thanks again, Ellen) said to delete it, then refresh, then add the new photo and it worked. I can't remember whether I deleted it, then went out of it and refreshed it, then went back in and put in the new photo, but play around with it.
Good luck with it!

Series
Nicki, I've popped back in as well...and while I'm here I will definitely snag a Tim Tam (or three) to get me through the afternoon. Thanks Robbie (for the chocolate fix and the lovely words.)
Kelley, I'm also a fan of reading a series as the books come out, and that's not only because I have no willpower (with chocolate or yummy books.) I actually like the anticipation of the wait for the next book. A couple of times I have read a whole long series one after another until I reached overkill. And that wasn't the fault of the books or the authors; it was me overloading. So, I prefer to read them and wait the month or few until the next.
Also in a series I'd love to see the other characters to know how they are getting on. I do get a bit disappointed if I don't see them.
Great point, Nicki. I'm with you on that, although it's tricky in the short books such as Desire. In VOWS & A VENGEFUL GROOM I was able to introduce many of the upcoming characters which was wonderful. But it's harder to bring back the h/H from previous books. They need to have a role, can't just be token walk-ons for the sake of demonstrating their HEA.
That said, I know Ric and Kim make appearances in most of the subsequent books. They're not token appearances either, but that's all I'm saying...except I'm sure Maxine will have her excerpt up soon.

Simulpost...
Hi, Deb. Hope you enjoy Vows & A Vengeful Groom. I will forewarn you about the hook ending; mine is a story which introduces a lot of the upcoming conflict and you may need to strap yourself in for the full series.
Robbie, I also had the same problem with the picture "sticking". As Maxine suggested, I deleted the old one then added the new one and I think I may have needed to go out of eHQ and come back in before the new one showed up.
On the squishing: I had that problem when I tried to use my book cover. I couldn't get the proportions to stick even when using a background, so I gave up and chose a pic. which was square to start with.

Tim tam!
I need a tim tam, something to tide me over. All these little hints are killing me LOL
I did put Vows aside Bron, I just know its going to be sensational and the later I read it, the closer to the end of the month it gets, so then I can order Tessa's book.
Plus I have to work on my synopsis and if I start your book I KNOW I'm not going to do that!

I made it, after a busy few hours cleaning kitchen cupboards for a friend who is moving. From old crockery to diamonds - wow!
I have Bron's and Tessa's book and trying to keep my sticky beak out of them till I have at least Maxine's might be more than I can stand. Lovely to see Bron waving the flag for a THIRD monumental week on the Waldies against all that stiff competition. I knew there was a reason she started this series.
If anyone is wondering where Yvonne is, she's off camping for a few days but I'm sure she is with us in spirit. She and Bron had the toughest assignments of this continuity - introducing all the characters and then tying up all the loose ends. And I'm sure they've both done us proud.

Hi Jan! It is indeed fabulous (and not at all surprising) to see V&AVG on the Waldies for the 3rd week.
I do remember you telling me about using Magnate in a title. I think it was around that time I sent my editor an email with the heading "The Magnet's Marriage Demand". D'oh! I died when I realized later, lol. I'm looking forward to enjoying your beautiful descriptions, Jan. You paint a scene like a master.

Jan, you made it!
Jan, I'm so glad you made it here. I know that Paula was having trouble with the link, Tessa will be here soon, and Yvonne is camping but said she would try and find an internet cafe.
Jeanette, thank *you* for all your patience in setting this up, especially with the changeover at eHarlequin to the new site. I'm sure you were just so busy.
Congrats to Bron for her third week in a row on Waldies. Fantastic, Bron! And forgive me if I've already congratulated you on this list. I know I've congratulated you elsewhere today.
Robbie and Jan, MJ didn't like Magnate in one of my suggested titles either. Maybe by the time Robbie sold we had worn MJ down to our way of thinking.
And Robbie, you're right about Jan painting a scene like a master. I read one of her scenes set in Port Douglas and it was gorgeous. Don't worry, Jan, I won't give away any spoilers.

Whew...
...it worked!
Kelley, thanks for buying Pride & A Pregnancy Secret. I hope you enjoy it! And Robbie, Deb and Nicki, thanks for your support too.
I like to read series in order--even if they are stand alone books. It's just the way my brain works. I used to read them as I bought them and eagerly await the next book. But I once had the experience where I read three books and the last was sold out everywhere (pre Amazon) and I didn't manage to lay my hands on the final book for years--I had to wait for it to turn up in a second hand store. So now I buy them all, and only when I have the whole series or continuity do I read it from start to finish. It also means I don't need to re-read books to remember the subtle bits that I've forgotten...
But with this series I think I'm going to read it as the books come out--because this time I know I'll get every book!
I have to admit that e-books are starting to sound like a great idea. It means you get to read the next book even more quickly. Any one reading Desires as ebooks?

Ebooks
Tessa, I just can't do the ebooks. I've bought a couple but then never read them. But having said that I now use my hubby's palm as a diary and he just said I could probably download books on that. Don't know. I kind of like turning the pages. The fact that I'm the WORLDS WORST skimmer
I probably wouldn't like it. LOL
Then again maybe it would be better if I did then I couldn't do it. LOL Me so bad.
Okay bed time for me. Have a great Tuesday everyone!

((Great to see you here)) All the Tim Tams are gone, but there's always tomorrow morning. Maybe Lamingtons
Maxine, I go straight to my profile and click on my last message coz, yeah, otherwise it seems to go back up to the top. I remember a scene from Jan's first book, Trophy Wives, with the heroine up on a mountain and a divine first kiss. "The blue haze of the mountains shone in her eyes." Oh yum.
Hey, Tessa! It's great to see you! That's terrible you couldn't get one of the books from a series. How frustrating! I sometimes have a different problem. I'll really like an author and accidentally buy her book twice. I admit, I have an addiction
I need to buy a gizmo to do the ebook thing. It would definitely be a handy alternative. Although, like Nicki, I think I'd miss 'the page'.
Eep! Almost midnight!

And have to agree, Jan's writing is awesomely beautiful! And Bron's talents at evoking so much emotion out of so few words are legendary. How's this:

Welcome Christa! Lovely to see you again. I hope you had a good break while you house sat?
I try for surprises--mostly because that's what I love as a reader. I like to keep guessing. As a reader I love to think that I've got it all sussed...then find out I'm wrong. But the writer's not allowed to cheat. There must be some clues when I go back through the text, which I simply missed.
As a writer I've found sometimes the stories just don't lend themselves to twists, and sometimes it takes a lot of nefarious and devious wracking of brains to come up with stuff that works. Usually the characters come up with it in dialogue, usually at a very late stage. They can be very sneaky...
It always gives me a 'Why didn't I think of that' moment.
There are heaps of surprises right through the Diamonds Down Under series. So keep reading.

hints
I have to say that I was a bit cross when I finished Bron's book. I'd read the best book in the pile first and it was finished far too soon! Then there were all those hints about what was to come and no way to get my hands on the next book. I'm awed by her ability to fit so much emotion into one short book and include all that foreshadowing too.
I can't even console myself with Tim Tams while I wait for Tessa's book 'cos I only managed to stuff 3 packets in my suitcase last time I was home . . .

A diamond pendant - now wouldn't that be fun to win and wear (though i have nothing I could wear it with, or even to, for that matter). Still I'll work on that if I win it.
Can't wait to dive into this series, it's going to be fantastic.
Win diamonds for that delicious dress?
Sandra, now that's the BEST excuse I've ever heard to go and buy a new dress.
Although maybe diamonds, scandalously, don't even need a dress!
But seeing that we are talking about dresses and diamonds, I remember thinking how gorgeous Bron's heroine, Kim, sounded when Bron described this white dress Kim intended to wear. And when I first saw the cover for Vows & A Vengeful Groom I thought, YES, THAT'S KIM, THAT'S THE DRESS. It's wonderful when editors and art directors and cover artists get the writer's vision and manage to encapsulate it in an image. Magic.

Thanks so much for your lovely endorsement of VOWS & A VENGEFUL GROOM. I'm so thrilled you enjoyed Ric and Kim's story (and have you read Maxine's excerpt?
)

The Diamond Pendant...and Editor Critiques...and Desire hooks
Why I like this pendant (and why I ordered one for myself as well
): it looks like a piece you could wear anywhere. Dressy or casual or anywhere in between. Plus, for this contest, it HAD to be a heart and HAD to feature diamonds.
The treasure hunt with the pendant prize is just one of our DDU contests and I want to mention the others as well because they're of particular interest to writers. We have 2 critiques with Silhouette editors and 1 agent critique to win, just by visiting and posting at our blog. Yay!
Also, Desire senior editor Melissa Jeglinski did a Q&A in December which includes must-read advice on what she's looking for. 2 storyline hooks she mentions are the western hero and boss/secretary.
Do these 2 hook you or is there another storyline you're aching to see more?

Hi!
Hi Everyone!
Christa, I am about 20 mins west of Hamilton, in the city of Brantford.
Maxine, the weekly newsletter goes out every Tuesday. I received mine this week. It is possible your spam filter or your earlier email issue might have blocked the delivery. I will ask someone to forward it to me again and then send it to you.

Reading series...
My question to everyone: how do you like to read series books? Can you
read one and wait a month until the next, or do you like to store them
up and read in one go?
It depends. If the series is already out.. I would rather have all the books in my hot little hands so I can just go from one book to another.
It is nice though reading month to month if I've found the series from the start.
This series is just wonderful. I've reviewed Vows & Vengeful Groom for the challenge. Bronwyn does a fantastic job with the opener giving us enough background for the series and giving us a wonderful romance.
Interesting half the authors in this continuity series are new and half autobuys - made it very easy to get invested in it.
