For this writer there is nothing nicer than a blank page.
All that clear white space. It is just so pristine, so perfect, so unblemished, so ripe with potential. The first words that light upon the screen are like butterfly wings, setting in motion a precise series of events, of phrases, of collections of words that have never been told before.
The same goes for a new year.
The first of January heralds an oppurtunity for change, for renewal, for revival like no other day. Even though in the back of you mind you know the sun rises and sets the same way it does any other day, but mentally, and emotionally none of that matters.
So as I leap headlong into this bright shiny unblemished new year, I am filled with wonder and the flush of expectation. What books will I write? What new experiences will each and every day with my new daughter bring? Where will I go? Who will I meet? What will I learn?
The possibilites are truly boundless.
What I do know for sure is that this month I will write, I will dream, I will laugh, I will love and I will be surprised. Here's hoping the same for all of you!
