Received my R.

As some of you know, I entered the SuperRomance Pitch and received a request for a partial from Wanda Ottewell.  Today I received the R from her dated 01-07-2008 (included for those of you from the pitch still waiting to hear).  I went home at lunch and deleted the MS from my computer.  A new ms is well underway.  I am thankful for the opportunity to submit and thankful for her time.

In other news, I go to the orthopaedic surgeon today at 5 and hope for good news about my broke ankle/foot.

I am in the middle of reading Julie Cohen's book, and am having trouble putting it down.  Hopefully I can finish it tonight.  I have several books that I want to blog about.  I hope tonight is the night.

Happy reading and writing!Smile

Hugs on the R

Glad to hear you've started a new MS (but not that you deleted the other one Undecided)

Can understand you not wanting to put down Julie's book - they've all kept me captivated so far

Betty, I'm so sorry to hear about your R!  Rejections sting no matter what.  Chocolate brownie ice cream is my favorite way to cope with my disappointment.  Not easy on my waistline, but it sure makes me feel better.

And you're doing the absolute right thing by digging in with your new project!  Hopefully you have the old project saved to disc to resurrect at the appropriate time?

Sorry about the R, MJ.  There's very little about them that doesn't suck.  Did Wanda give you any insights as to what was wrong with the story?  Often the only good thing about them is to learn a little.

Thank you Sadhbh, Lori & Carrie!

Actually Wanda did say the premise had potential, and made several kind suggestions as to ways to handle other things, but her comments were focused on the story.  Since I have read the crazy ms a hundred times, the story is etched in my mind.  There probably is a copy in my back up files.  But the only recourse would be to write a new story on the premise using some of Wanda's suggestions and since I don't need the old one, I got rid if it so I would not spend hours on an autopsy. Smile

Oh, sorry! Wanda is great

Oh, sorry!

Wanda is great with the comments, though. Keep them and maybe some day they'll click in you brain like fireworks Laughing

Sorry to hear about your R

But at least you got positive comments, right?  I have heard that that is a good sign.

Thank you Jenna & Fake Frenchie!

Yes, Wanda was great to take time out of her busy schedule and write a nice long letter to me.  Basically the story line had promise, but everything else didn't work.  She gave me lots of suggestions of what I could do with the line and possible scenarios to use.  There were so many things, in my opinion, it would be impossible to revise the ms.  It would be far easier to take the theme, and perhaps try to write a ms using her suggestions.  But in order to do that, I must distance myself from the old ms.

And I know how obsessive I am.  I had read and edited the thing 50 times or better, so I need to put at least a year between me & it.

And I was very thankful that at least it was too much crammed into one ms.  It seems I have graduated from many of my other problems to a whole new set.  I have lots to learn this year.  And I still can not believe I even got the partial request and won the pitch.

Thanks and happy reading and writing. Smile

Well, you've got a great

Well, you've got a great attitude and I think a really good plan.  The fact that you got a personalized response says Wanda thinks your writing is worth it.  Remember that and keep on plugging!  I'm rooting for you!

Just because you got one R on the MS doesn't mean you should have deleted it. You never know what could happen in the future. ((((Hugs))))) Good luck at the doctors.

Thanks!

Thank you both for the hugs, Jodie & ks.  I was so sick of that ms that I am glad it is gone.  I wrote it a couple of years ago, have subbed it, revised it, read it a million times, etc. I know I shocked some folks with deleting it, but it forces me to write the next one and look forward.  I had a dear friend who never got over her husband leaving her.  She has spent the last 15 years looking back and has not enjoyed her life of found happiness. There is a loss with each ending but also a freedom to make something new, and so I chose to quickly move on the the next ms.

After all these years of receiving R's, I have become a bit crusty.  I enjoyed writing the ms, and am enjoying writing the next 100 ms's so I never want to look back.

Happy writing!

Great attitude

I think it's great that you're ready to move on so quickly, and it's even better that you can see how to use Wanda's comments in a whole new ms.

Best of luck with the new story and congrats on getting so far with the pitch.
