eBook Update!

(Third post for the day on the subject!)

Okay I've
been pouring over the information out there… PDA's do basically what I
want.  Who knew!  BUT they're small.  Good and bad to that.  Can't read
for too long without eye strain.  But then I don't usually have that
luxury anyways–I do have three children.
Soooo, I think a PDA is really the way I want to go if I want to be
able to purchase books the way I want AND read them somewhere other
then my on my computer.  I don't like being penned in—ever!  Wish they
had a PDA that was like either of the the Sony's screen or the Kindle's
but hey…  I'll be able to read these  stories! (Well, let me rephrase
that, I'll be able to read any protected books in the future on my
PDA--apparently the adobe 8 is not 'ready' for transfer to a PDA system
and of course I have the latest downloaded...  And of course I can't transfer these copies to an older version of the Adobe...   So obviously I'm going to have to alter that before downloading any more books!  I tell ya!)

Any thoughts on all of this would be definitely appreciated!

well one thing with many

well one thing with many eformats on PDAs is that you can change the fint size, whch helps with eye strain. Also, if you use mobipocket, you can change the font and background colors which helps hugely as well.

I had a Franklin eBookman for my first reader and I liked it. But then I graduated to a pocket PC which I love. I don't do half of what I can on it, but I like the option to use all that stuff if I desire.

Hi! and Thanks!

Hello Kelly!  Sorry for not noticing the comment before now!  I'm too used to getting notice in the mail that I have a comment and kept 'waiting'.  By accident this morning I noticed I had comments!Tongue out

Your comments on the PDA have most definitely reassurred me, both here and over at the other blog, that I made a good decision on going with the PDA.  I don't know anyone who has either that or a reader so thank you so much!  I really needed to hear what you've said!  Cool

once you use it for a while

once you use it for a while you'll really be able to tell if you like it or not. I hope you do like it though and have lots of fun with it.

Thanks!

Thanks Kelly!  I'm so excited!  The case for it came yesterday... I was like...HUH?  Where's the PDA?  LOL I would rather have had the PDA come first.  Cool  I'm dying to try it out and have fun reading!  I also wanted to say, knowing I can alter the fonts from one of your comments is what finally pushed me to just go and get the PDA--- it does everything else I want them to do. Now if I could somehow arrive early!!!!  Its not scheduled to here until tomorrow and well, if it didn't... then I have to wait until MONDAY!!!!  Surprised  I'm so not big on patience!Cool

Not only can you change the font size in Mobipocket, you can

change the background and text color.  Kelley and I learned that from Becca and I was going, "OH! Wow! Why didn't I play around with this more?!"  I have my background set on a dark blue and the text set on a creamy color.

FWIW,

Penn

REALLY??!!!!

Holy Cow Jenn!  Now that is something else I didn't pick up from their descriptions on the sales pages!  Changing the colors!!!

I'm getting more and more excited to have it here!  Even for other things, like this morning one of my cp's emailed me a doc to 'read' over.  A general comment needed only.  Several times this morning I thought.. I could be reading it while I sit here with my son and he watches his show(wants my company).

I just can't wait!  Cool

Yeah I loved that little

Yeah I loved that little feature I found out about it. I played around with various color combinations but went back to my first pick - black background with a cream colored font. I love that I can read SOOO much longer with the colors set that way then with traditional black on white.

Keep us posted

Be sure and let us know how you like it once you've used it. I know more people will want to know the details. So many are checking and trying to decide how to go. I'm satisfied with my Kindle but others want readers for other things. These readers cost too much not to be satisfied when you finally take the plunge.

It's here!

Penn, I apologize for spelling your name wrong... didn't realize it until today when I was reading over things.  Slip of the finger. Cool

Kelly, I haven't tried your combination of colors yet... for some reason I had the colors opposite in my head and have it cream background with black text at the moment.  Its working for me Laughing!

I just wanted to say thank you both for all your comments!  It really helped me and I'm totally loving my purchase!  I did post about it today, as it came!  Laughing  Which is where I yakked about it at length.  But the main thing is, I'm so glad I went this route in the end.  I'd ordered the Kindle to begin with... then switched to the Sony... but the versatility of the PDA tops them all!   And that hopefully helps answer my latest guest-- DEBKC3!  Stop by my post for today guys and you can see what I got!

Thanks for stopping by! Smile
