Whodathunkit?!?!
How exciting to see a spot for the 2008 NASCAR series here! I'm so thrilled to be a part of this series--a year ago, I knew nothing about NASCAR and never imagined I'd care, but then Marsha Zinberg asked me to write one of the books (#15 GO WITH THE FLOW, Nov.) and I began my adventures in NASCAR.
I enjoy doing research for all my books, but I would never in a million years have expected to fall crazy hooked over this sport! I've now been to my first race (Bristol night race--AMAZING!!! See photos on my website www.jeanbrashear.com) I've DVR'd a zillion or so hours of SPEEDtv plus watch the races while following them on TrackScan...I've got it bad, folks.
I think you'll really enjoy this series, especially with fabulous writers like Gina Wilkins, Marisa Carroll, Ken Casper, Abby Gaines, Helen Brenna, my personal NASCAR guru Wendy Etherington and so many more. I'm so honored to be with them. These 16 books are chock full of not only lots of racing but cool dark secrets, emotional drama and romance out the wazoo.
The first two books will be on stands in about 10 days--can't wait!!!

Hi!
Hi everyone,
I'm excited to be here! Not only did I get to write Hart's Victory, but I also wrote two books in the upcoming series, Out of Line and Tailspin. If you want to see a really hot cover, you have to visit my blog at www.micheledunaway.blogspot.com and check out Sawyer Branch.

NASCAR books.
Yay! I love these books so much. I read a sample of "Speed Dating". I signed up for a subscription of these books, but I had to cancel for the time being until I can pay them back and find a job to start it back up again. I'm reading older books right now. The most recent NASCAR book I have, ... I believe is "Total Control." These books are really great. I'm not much of a fan of NASCAR but my uncle will drop dead in the crowd.
Keep it up these are great!

I can't wait to read 'em
JEAN!!!
So good to *see* you, I'm really looking forward to reading your contributions to the NASCAR miniseries. This family feud plotline sounds really interesting, and one can always use some romance out the wazooo!
Hi Michele too...er, and double WOW re Sawyer!

Hi Jayne--and oh baby baby, Sawyer!
Hey, Jayne! How great to see you, too!
Renee, this series is not to miss--and Michele's terrific books (and WHAT a cover!!!) are only part of the reason. All the covers I've seen so far absolutely ROCK! The art dept. folks have outdone themselves.
Of course, I guess it's a little inappropriate of me to be hyperventilating over Sawyer--I wrote his mother Maeve's book, and I'm feeling a little over the line just now, but...wow! Sawyer has twin older brothers, too, who are drivers, and they're pretty dang hot themselves. (Oh, dear--did I just do it again?
)
Wonder if your uncle is as fired up as I am about Daytona being less than a month away?!?!? Who's his driver?

Stopping by...
Hello, all! Good to "see" familiar faces.
I figure I'm so seeped in NASCAR these days that I'll never get the grease off my stilettos.
But these are the sacrifices we make for our craft and loyal readers.
I've been a NASCAR fan for many years, so I loved doing my '07 book, and I have #12 for the '08 series--Hot Pursuit. My hero's a bounty hunter, which is--of course--very hot. But I don't know if anybody's going to top the hottie factor of Michele's cover. I guess we can all aspire.

First two books in Secrets and Legends!
Hey, Wendy girl! Great to see you here!
I just finished the first two books in Secrets and Legends, Gina Wilkins' IN HIGH GEAR and Marisa Carroll's FORBIDDEN ATTRACTION, and I gotta say that even though I'm part of this series and supposedly know all the ins and outs, both were exciting reads! A terrific kickoff where you can already see teasers for future threads, as well as the mystery that runs through all 16 books: was it indeed the Grosso family drivers who killed off two generations of Murphy family shining hopes for NASCAR champions, thus setting off a feud that's been going on for 50 years?
Since both of these books feature drivers, one a Grosso and one a Murphy, you really get a feel for the families, the depth and intensity of the hatred between them. I keep finding myself drawing parallels between real NASCAR dramas and our fictional families: Dean Grosso's situation of having been a great and revered driver for many years but without a Cup championship being sort of a combo of Mark Martin--also a great and revered driver without a Cup championship--and what it must have been like for the legendary Dale Earnhardt to go so many years unable to win at Daytona. And then there's the thread of Dean's son Kent being a driver, too--and the current Cup champion--and how much the family wants Dean, possibly in his last season, to win it all...and the tension when a hated Murphy keeps wrecking Dean and Dean's chances for that fairytale ending. (And then there's the Marisa Carroll story of what happens when a Grosso daughter falls in love with that hated Murphy!)
Pretty cool stuff! And even though I know how some of these threads end, I'm reading these two books and still getting tense and intrigued over what will happen! Impressive--and a tribute to the skills of these wonderful authors.
Can't wait to read the next two books, out in March: Bethany Campbell's TRUTH AND CONSEQUENCES and Abby Gaines' FULLY ENGAGED!
Jean
I love these NASCAR books.
I love these NASCAR books. I've read Hart's Victory and have picked up Gina and Marisa's books. They are now sitting in my TBR pile
Hooray!
I love to hear that readers have read Hart's Victory. That is one of my all time favorites. Hope you like the others you've got. I haven't read them yet, but I trust Jean's gushing!

RE: NASCAR SECRETS SECRETS AND LEGENDS
Are these perfect reads, or what??? I think a bloke and his girlfriend should read them together. i mean for him there's the racing and race car element (AND he fantasizes that he's the HERO
) and she fantasizes she's the heroine ~~ so...why not???

Michele, I loved Hart's
Michele, I loved Hart's Victory!
Hockeyjock, that's a great idea! Too bad most of the guys I know will not read more than a magazine or newspaper article. Except my DH, but he's not into car racing, or even fiction for that matter. He likes history and archaelogy. So, I guess I'll read them alone and discuss them online (the next best thing
)
Hart's Victory & Dale Jr.
Papaya, I am so glad you loved Hart's Victory. I can't tell you how much that means. I dedicated that story to a student of mine who lost the battle to leukemia.
And go Dale Jr. go! Junior won the Bud Shootout last night and he's off to a good start. If you watched it you could hear his fans.
And they were saying his fans would leave him. Hardly!

Some how I missed
Some how I missed that there was an ongoing series here. I've ordered Gina, Marrisa and Abby's, but failed to pick up Bethany's so, I guess I'll have to remedy that, huh?
I've enjoyed the NASCAR series, and just finish reading Wendy and Liz's NO HOLDING BACK. Can't wait for more of the Garrison family in the future.
Jean and Michele, look forward to your contributions as well!!

More NASCAR books each year?!?! Please!
Don't know about the rest of you Harlequin NASCAR fans, but I'd dearly LOVE to see more than 16 books each year. I'd like to see 4 each month! Any consideration by Harlequin for increasing the number of NASCAR series books?
Never really followed NASCAR, though my sister has, until I started reading these books. Now I really enjoy watching the races and discussions with sister about races & teams. These books have brought us closer together in a shared love! :) Thanks Harlequin & NASCAR Authors!
NASCAR, more?
Sounds good to me!
I've read the first two in the Secrets and Legends series and have enjoyed both. Is there a listing of author's, titles and characters for the remaining books????

NASCAR NOVELS
Is Harlequin currently accepting submissions for the NASCAR romance novels?
Answers to your questions
Sorry, haven't had a chance to check this board in a while.
The NASCAR books come out about every 6 weeks, so they don't come out every month. Out of Line is to be released June 10 for example.
The NASCAR series is not open to submissions and is contracted all the way through the 2009 books. Since the series is a continuity, the authors were handpicked by the editors.
Hope this helps.

Michele...
Can you give us a listing of the authors participating in Secrets and Legends? I'm also curious to know what characters are having their stories told.
I finished Anna Schmidt's SLINGSHOT MOVES and really enjoyed it! I've read three NASCAR books in a row, I think I'll take a break and pick them back up in a week or so!

Just finished Out of Line and am starting on Hitting the Brakes. I just love the way these stories are intertwined and keeping us in touch with the families!

I was shocked
I was shocked when I heard that Smoke was leaving Gibbs and going to and owning part of another team. I'm even more shocked that Newman may be going with him. I'm glad for Tony though. He's such a neat guy and such a sweet heart. I started liking Tony because of his rescue of racing Greyhounds. I takes someone special to do that.

TS
Ok, I'll admit I was surprised to hear of Tony's plans as well, but I just had an feeling that he wouldn't be with Gibbs next year, even though that's where I thought he should remain. I'm looking foward to bigger and better things for him in 2009.
So, has the new car number been revealed, or are they keeping the Haas numbers?
Kate

Tony's numbers
I haven't gone to NASCAR.com in a few days so I;m behind again. So I don't know the numbers. I guess it's a good thing I lost my #20 hat. I just saw on a crawler, while I was at lunch with my mother, that Ryan Newman is definitely leaving Penske. I hate the silly season starting so early.
Shell
Silly season
I'm not a fan of an early silly season myself. I'll check back to see if you all hear any other interesting info!
