I can't believe that I've missed this!

I started watching CSI with my oldest daughter when it first came out, but after a couple of years I didn't spend much, if any, time watching television.
Then about a year or so ago, I got caught up in it again, then found CSI: NY and loved it!  Gary Sinise is a favourite of mine.
CSI:  Miami took me a little longer to warm up to, mostly 'cause David Caruso has never been on my list of actors that I like to watch... *shrug* ... don't really know why ~ and it's not changed much since I've become a fan of the series.  But I can say that I do try to catch episodes from all of them.  Although I am fairly up to speed on the original series ~ one of my daughter's has the first three seasons on DVD.

kalyko ~ Reading: One of life's little joys and a much needed reward!

Hey kalyko!

I started watching CSI during around season 3.  If you haven't guessed, I ADORE George Eads.  I think Gary Sinise is cool, too, and NY has, along with the original *drools*, a plethora of fine men.  I have only seen one epi of Miami (other than the cross-over epis with Vegas and NY).

I think it's funny that most ppl who've ever stopped onto this board (the one from the old 'site') don't like David Caruso, either.  It's amazing to me how many don't like him!  He's always given me the creeps.  ALWAYS.  Laughing  So, if that many ppl don't care for him, it makes you wonder what's up.  Well, at least it does me.

Glad you've found this board and I hope you'll pop in to comment and share your favorite epis!

I like and watch CSI NY &

I like and watch CSI NY & LAS VEGAS but quit watching Miami because I just didn't like where they were going with the story line and I don't care for Caruso.  Hope they come out with some new ones before the end of the season.

It's not a totally

done deal YET.  The show needs to get more viewers.  The problem is they've not been able to show many of the old epis because of basketball, so during the reruns because of the strike, they haven't gotten any new viewers.  If they could have shown more of 'em, I know the show would have LOTS of new fans.

Sorry gang....

I hate to be the barer of bad news...  And this is bad!

Another CSI takes his leave.

CSI Files recently reported that Gil Grissom (William Petersen) had signed a contract to keep him on CSI: Crime Scene Investigation through the 2008-2009 season.  Gary Dourdan,  Petersen's costar who plays Warrick Brown, however, has decided to say goodbye to the crime drama. He will be following in the footsteps of Jorja Fox, former CSI cast member who played Sara Sidle, who left the show earlier this season.

Dourdan's contract runs out next month, and Ausiello reports that the actor chose not to renew it. CBS would not confirm the rumor, and it is not known how much longer Dourdan will appear on CSI. The season eight finale airs May 15, and the episode may be Warrick's last.

Marg Helgenberger (Catherine Willows) and George Eads (Nick Stokes) are both expected to sign contracts for the upcoming season, but nothing has been confirmed at this point. The producers of CSI, meanwhile, are in the process of casting a replacement for Warrick. The character is said to be named Ray Santoro, a "handsome, smart and athletic" crime scene investigator transferring from Henderson to the Las Vegas crime lab.

It is a sad day indeed.....

The latest on Gary/Warrick.....

Something from one of my sources....

According to Entertainment Weekly, an insider with CSI says that Gary Dourdan might reprise the role of Warrick Brown for occasional guest appearances in later seasons after his upcoming exit from the show.

I have been hot and cold on this guy. Gambling, drugs, marriage, bad marriage - just so much baggage with him. I like his character when he is on a crime scene though. We had a power outage the other noght 10 minutes into CSI NY. My sister who lives nearby was also affected and now we are mourning and have to wait for reruns to learn about the shark and the chocolate!

CSI's got NAME!!!!

I thought this was cool info!!!!  We like them!  We really like them!  LOL!!!!!

THEY'VE GOT Q

The catholic tastes of TV audiences shouldn't have come as a blinding epiphany to anyone, says Robert Thompson, who runs the Center for the Study of Popular Television at Syracuse University.

''We make a mistake when we think the only people we want to watch on TV or in movies are people in our own demographic,'' Thompson says. 'Think of all little kids' shows in the '50s and '60s that starred frazzled old miners or sailors or whatever. . . . Think of a show like Walker, Texas Ranger, that appealed to all age groups. Judge Judy would not be as appealing a show if she had just popped out of law school. She works because she is this kind of crotchety -- not old, but experienced -- person, getting tough with everybody.

Q scores, a measure of the name-recognition and likeability of stars compiled by the New York-based company Marketing Evaluations, certainly bear that out. Prime-time TV's top Q-score personalities and their ages:

ACTORS

1. William Petersen, CSI (55)

2. Hugh Laurie, House, (48)

3. Christopher Meloni, Law & Order: SVU (47)

4. Sam Waterston, Law & Order (67)

5. George Eads, CSI (41)

ACTRESSES

1. Mariska Hargitay, Law & Order: SVU (44)

2. Marg Helgenberger, CSI (49)

3. Reba McEntire, Reba (53)

4. Katherine Heigl, Grey's Anatomy (29)

5. Jorja Fox, CSI (39)

I am ticked!

I'm SOOOOOOOO mad at how this season finale ended!  I thought, like Jorja Fox, he was planning to come back to visit....  With that ending, it seems like that won't happen.

Oh, and they canceled MOONLIGHT!!!  I'm so mad at CBS right now!  It won the People's Choice Award for best new drama, and they canceled it!!!!!  Maybe SciFi or another channel will pick it up.....  I think, though, I'm living in a dream world.

Ok I admit I haven't been

Ok I admit I haven't been watching the shows much since the return of new episodes but last week and this week I have and it seems to me that all 3 shows are losing people. First I saw CSI kill off one person then I found out CSI Miami had lost the ME now I get  NCIS looking to lose several folks and tonight I wonder if CSI NY will lose someone What is happening? Is this the start of the end of the shows? does anyone else think that? Frown

My answer and info!

Tiger, I don't know.  It could be.  I haven't seen this past week's CSI:NY yet.  Guess time will tell.

As for CSI Vegas news....

Sara is coming back.

Jorja Fox (Sara Sidle) bid farewell to CSI: Crime Scene Investigation after the episode "Goodbye and Good Luck" midway through season eight. Fox said she would return to the show at some point, but she could not reveal when that would be. It was later stated that Sara wouldn't be back in season eight.

Ausiello is now reporting that Sara's return will happen sooner than expected. Fox has signed a deal to appear in the season nine premiere this fall. Ausiello confirmed that Fox "won't be appearing in a flashback." The specific details of the comeback, however, are unclear.

Further kewl news????  Read on!

Warrick Brown (Gary Dourdan), who was shot in the season finale, is also set to return in the fall. In the latest issue of TV Guide, executive producer Carol Mendelsohn said Dourdan would be back, but "not just in flashbacks."

CSI-type show...

I know CRIMINAL MINDS isn't in the CSI family, per say, but I thought you'd be interested in this...

CSI: New York's lead-in might get its own spin-off.

The hit CBS show Criminal Minds may follow in the footsteps of the CSI franchise. Minds' executive producer Ed Bernero said that CBS and producer ABC Studios are having "substantive" discussions about creating a spin-off of the show. "It's safe to say there will be something soon," he said.

"We had talked about it from the beginning," he continued, "but something always got in the way of it happening… like Mandy Patinkin leaving and the strike. But it's definitely gaining momentum now." While it is unclear what the premise of the spin-off would be, Bernero said they are "looking at all of the things the FBI does and how we can work that into the Criminal Minds world."

Another question that remains is whether the spin-off would take characters from the original show. "I don't think so," Bernero said. "We're very happy with the team we have. On the other hand, it's possible characters could be on both shows… All options are open." The spin-off will likely be introduced on an episode of Minds during the upcoming season.

You know that fancy new CSI contract that William Petersen inked last May? Turns out there was a ticking time bomb buried in the fine print: He'll be gone by midseason! And not "off too do a play" gone like he was back in 2006. No, this season's 10th episode will be his last as a full-time series regular.

"Billy is leaving," confirms the show's executive producer, Carol Mendelsohn. "But he will remain throughout the run of the series an executive producer. And he will, whenever CBS asks, come back. I don't think you've seen the last of Gil Grissom."

Neither does Petersen. In fact, in an exclusive interview conducted on July 11, the eight-year CSI vet seemed almost reluctant to characterize his departure as, um, a departure. Citing both his ongoing role as an executive producer and his intention to return on occasion as a (very special) guest star, he said, "I'm in a great place in terms of knowing that I'll be more free to make choices. And I'm responsible enough to not do it in a way that would hurt [the show].

"I want it to work for the writers, I want it to work for the cast, and, most importantly, I want it to work for the audience," he added. "I don't want them to abandon the show."

CBS has to be concerned about that, too. Although no one expects ratings to nosedive when Petersen leaves, the network's top-rated show is staring down its biggest challenge ever. His sorta swan song, coupled with Jorja Fox and Gary Dourdan's exits last season, brings to three the number of original cast members CSI will have lost in a year's time.

"This will be a year of transition for the show," concedes Mendehlson. "We always knew it was coming, and I'm glad it didn't come until now." At this point, she's confident that, like Law & Order and ER, CSI is a franchise that can weather such cast shifts. "There's never going to be another William Petersen, and there will never be another Jorja Fox," she hastens to add. "But we are not out to just replace those actors. We're out to add new characters to the show, and the show will change as a result. But that's a good thing." (For more on CSI's post-Grissom plans, click here.)

In the meantime, Mendelsohn is plotting one hell of a send-off for her leading man. Just as this is a year of transition for CSI, so too is it for Grissom. The events of last season's finale -- specifically the death of Dourdan's Warrick -- will push Grissom to the breaking point. "The easiest way to describe Grissom is 'in crisis,'" Petersen told me. "As a man. As a scientist. As a teacher. As a middle-aged person who has been very successful at what he's done... [he] wonders, 'What's the point?'

"It's all of a sudden becoming more difficult for him to do his job," he continued. "What had been a sort of fun job for him to do, because he loved the solving of the riddle, has become ever more taxing and difficult."

Helping Grissom through the crisis will be his true love, Sara, played by Fox, who is returning for multiple episodes, starting with the season premiere. While Petersen confirms that Sara will figure into Grissom's final arc, he stops just short of saying the couple will ride off into the desert together at the end of episode 10. "I wouldn't want to say exactly what we're going do -- I want people to watch, certainly," he chuckled. "But Sara is involved... It's often darkest just before the dawn."

And lest anyone read any hidden meaning into that statement, the actor reiterated, "For me, it's a really good situation. I don't want the audience to think it's not... [It isn't] like there's something going on, like 'Petersen's unhappy,' 'cause it's not true. It's quite the contrary. "

That explains why he's having trouble labeling his departure a... well, you know. "My biggest problem with leaving the show at any point isn't leaving Grissom -- I'm an actor, it's time to do other things," said the stage vet, whose first post-CSI gig will be a return to the theater -- and to Connor McPherson's play, A Dublin Carol -- this fall in his hometown of Chicago. "[The hard part will be saying goodbye] to the cast and crew. [So] I'm going to stay as involved as I'm allowed to be throughout the remainder of this show. Until they turn off all the lights."

Hugs,
April
