This will definitely take some getting used to. I'd hate to say that I'm resistant to change but I was so comfy with the old way. Now I tend to get a little lost on who's saying what with this new format. Look on the right side of your screen. Do you see, under your user name, where it says My friends? Click on that first to see if you have any pending requests from friends. If you want to add someone else...click on their username when they post and it'll take you to their profile. There should be a button somewhere near the top, beside their username, that says Add as a friend. It will send a request to the friend.
If that doesn't work...it's not the first time I was full of it. JK! Hopefully that'll work for ya.

When I go to someone who's sent me a buddy request it asks if I want to remove them. Does this mean that adding a buddy goes both ways? Like if you added me, I get you too?

If you look, below the text boxes, there are the B I U and so on and so forth for bold, italics and underline. Below that is a picture of a tree, which is how you can put pictures in your posts, there's a broom I think that't what it is and an A and then the all important HTML. If you click on the HTML, it will bring up another box. This is where you can implement your code and it works. If you want to put in the <b> </b> then it will come up as bold print. I'm not good at explaining this kind of stuff, but hopefully it helped a little.
Sam, maybe it does make you hubby savvy--lol. Just accept the compliment, darnit.
Ami, if it's asking you if you want to remove ppl from your friends then that means you have friends, it's just glitching. It did it when we were beta testing it. I don't know if there's still a glitch thread or not--possibly in Book Buzz. There are going to be bugs in the system until we get the majority of our members over here.
Dunno how much longer I'm going to be awake, but I'll try and answer questions as best as I can.

When you reply to a post...do you have a subject line? Look at the top of your comment box...do you have little commands for text and editing features? There should be a little smiley face. Click on it and it'll pop up with a box of emoticons.
See if that works...I know it varies with browsers.
