I have one...

I have sometimes wondered why there are no medical Blazes, another one of the sub-lines like Extreme or whatever -- medical drama is so popular, and so sexy... seems to me to be the perfect place for sexy nurses and doctors, etc. I think it would be a cool addition, and wonder if the line is open to it.

well, I'm no expert, but

I think a Blaze with a medical slant would really work.  I mean, if you think about it, Blaze pushes a lot of boundaries, so why not have a medical Blaze?  Some of the other non-medical lines have doctors as characters, so it's not like it's that much bigger a leap to go all out medical.

Besides, medical romances aren't available in stores (to my knowledge) so a medical Blaze might draw in more medically-minded readers, who would then find the medical line from there!  So it would be win, win, win for everybody!

Gosh, I've almost convinced myself to write oneLaughing

LOL Olivia

I am one of those people who doesn't even watch Grays or ER, or whatnot, but I think medicals would be interesting.

How about a Blaze Medical instead?

One nice thing about the Medical line is that the "bedroom romance" is unique to the author ...... there are some authors that write "closed door" romance and then there are some authors that kick up the steam and wowwza! ........ Olivia Gates writes some very steamy love scenes that would fit very nicely in a Blaze  ....

I have a question though, in Blazes are not the hero and heroine a bit younger?  .... would medical professionals (other than newly graduated) be young enough for the line?

BTW, I'd read a "Blaze Medical"  .... and I'd read a "Medical Blaze"  Smile

That's interesting...

I don't read medicals, but maybe some kind of crossover series would work.

Blaze characters are often in their early 30s, at least, mine often are. ;)

I had an EMT in Talking in Your Sleep; there wasn't too much focus on that, though some, but I think while I don't read medicals or like hospitals much, there could be a lot of room to explore what "medicals" means -- could it be EMTS,  pschologists, clinics, etc or does it always have to be nurses/doctors/hospitals?

Sam ...... in the Medical line

the main characters can be EMTS, Search and Rescue paramedics, family doctors, surgeons, nurses, patholgists, ..... pretty much anything medical .... though I have not read one that had a Psychologist or a Dentist as the career   ......  the family / ped doctor stories tend to be more "tender" romances (at least those that I've read)  and the EMTs more action adventure ..... Olivia Gates' medicals are Doctors working for a fictious Global Aid Org. traveling to many war torn or rebel controlled areas .... these are very intense reads  ...... so I'd say the Medicals are similar to the Intrigues ... there are varying degrees of intensity to the story lines and varying degrees of heat, and these seem to range from author to author  ......

Jessica Anderson's Intrigues that revolve around the characters of Boston General are more suspense adventure with some medical situations appearing ....... I could easily see Blaze's written with characters connected to a hospital or medical group or even to Harvard Medical .. Coast Guard, Navy or Army medics ...

Sam, I haven't read many recent Blazes ( I do intend to fix that as I have them all in my TBR)  .... the earlier ones seemed geared to a more younger audience and the heros and heroines seemed more of a 20 something set .. when I think Medicals, I think mid 30's and up, so the Blaze line didn't come to mind for that setting

Medicals could be fun. As

Medicals could be fun. As long as they didn't get too cluttered up with characters that don't stay with the series.

Jamie Denton did an obstetrician once, long time ago. It's the only doctor that came to mind...we've seen nurses and there was one with the sleep research study...Oh! Highland Fling had a doctor, but that was a time travel so it wasn't very medically focused on that. I think I remembre Jo Leigh writing a doctor, not sure which one that was, though

So, as far as age goes, I'm sure that isn't an issue. Hmmm. Someone should do one, like Sex and the Supper Club, but with hospital players.

I just found this thread!

And though it seems to have been inactive for a while now, I just had to pop up and say that a Medial Blaze mini-series or something sounds like a great idea.

I'd sure love to write a Medical Blaze. It would fit right in with two of my strengths. Medicine and hot writing. Laughing

Though I'm wondering if it would have to be built around a sexual premise or if it can be Medical and super hot only or if it could be either? I'm also wondering if it can be as involved medically as the medical TV dramas like Grey's Anatomy, or if it would have to be far less medically involved or dependent on medical scenes. I think I'd love to write a mini-series like Grey's Anatomy, where each book would explore two of the characters' relationship, but of course to a sort of a HEA, since it isn't an ongoing series where all relationships have to keep getting complicated and unresolved. But I'd probably take my medical personnel out to the field like I do in my Medicals, have them be part of my Global Aid Organization with all sorts of high-stakes situations to up the ante in the personal relationship. Or something.

Thanks Katherine for mentioning my love scenes. Feel very flattered that you think them Blaze-level. Kiss Hmm, makes me wonder now if my Medicals could have been Blazes. Hmmm...

Again, ladies, great idea. Maybe something will come of it one day!
