When you create a book review or a blog entry there is a bar for us to type in tags ..... tags are like bread crumbs .... they help "you" find your content and others to find content similar to their likes
here are some of my ideas on what to put in the tag bar
For book reviews there will be automatic tags that come up --- the author's name --- the Harlequin / Silhouette series ---- format of the book ....... you don't have to worry about adding those, providing you've used the drop down lists to make the selections .... the tags I use are "keywords" that describe the book I'm reviewing --- for example .....
if the book had a main character that suffered from amnesia ....... I would tag - amnesia
if the book had violence, ie war, killing, knife fight, explosions ...... I would tag - violence -- Vikki's Her Perfect Life would have this tag, though she wrote her scenes very well
if the book had a lot of laugh out loud moments and was on a lighter side ..... I would tag - laughter
I recently read a series by Raye Morgan about a royal family ..... each book was about one of the royal siblings .... so I tagged - royalty, prince (princess depending on the main character)
I'm also tagging books as sweet, yummy, heat wave, very good, great, excellent depending on where they fit .... and I would use the word erotic or paranormal too if that applied
I plan on reading a few Intrigues that will have some paranormal themes, one that comes to mind the heroine has intuitive powers, so I'll probably use the tag - ESP
I intend on reading more Medicals, so I instead of mentioning the type of medical content in my review (I couldn't figure out how to do that without giving the story away) I may use tags ... ie epilepsy, graphic surgery, amputation, search and rescue, family doctor, --- you get the idea
Also, I'd put the title of a mini-series in the Tag line ... the Raye Morgan series I just read was Catching the Crown, so I tagged that
If the book belonged to a theme, I would tag the name of the theme ... ie Greek Tycoons, Heart to Heart, Count of a Cop, Red-Hot Revenge, Home on the Ranch, etc.
I'm part of a Book Challenge Team ... so I'm putting our Team name - Quiet Canadians - on the tag line, so that the entries made by the teammates will all come up when you click on our team tag
tags can be limitless and wonderous things .... I just wish we could have "personal" tags and "public" tags ... that would really make it easy for us to find content within our own blogs that need not be shared ... like I might want to use the tag - Top 10 - to indicate this is worthy and for me to consider it at the end of the year for my Top 10 list
the "search" function of this new site is far superior to the old one ..... so think of all the possible tags you can use to help your own future searches
Sadhbh created a blog titled Tags ... check it out for ideas about tagging :)

This isn't totally off topic
What I came to ask is, "How do I get my team's tag and link in my signature line?" I came to your team's stuff looking for your most recent blog and by luck, this is the most recent blog that you've done! And doing the team tag is sorta related. Kinda. Maybe. Or not. <g>
I think I know in my profile where to do it. But since other people might read this and want know you can go as basic as that. I'm guessing that it's as easy as clicking on my team's tag and then copying the URL but how do you make it look nice and choose the words to say for it (like "Come find my teammates and me HERE!") and everything? (I never got your email btw but I did get one from Sadhbh so it works sometimes via eHQ).
TIA!

I asked for a copy be sent to me, that way I would know if their server was working correctly .... I got my copy so I assumed you got your ...... check your spam folder for the email address you use to log in here .... eHarl won't let me see that addy, that's why I sent it through "contact" on your profile
I'll go find my post in the Lobby and copy and paste it here

How to put a Direct Link to your Team Blog in your Signature
I've mentioned this in a few reply comments on blogs and discussions .... but thought some others might be interested also ...
if you click on the Teams Tag over at the right sidebar in the tag cloud, it will bring up all that Teams blogs (well the ones that have all been tagged the same way) ..... you can then "bookmark" that webpage into your web browsers favourites/bookmarks .... then all you have to do is click on your bookmark in your web browser to bring back the Team page ... you may need to "refresh", but so far I haven't had to
also, for those of you that are members of a Team, you can put your Team blog's direct link in your signature, just as I have below ..... simply go to your Team blog page using the team "tag" ...... and using the html code for links and copy your team blog URL with the code to your signature section in your profile
for example, to get the direct link for the Quiet Canadians ... I added the following line to my signature in my profile
<a href="http://community.eharlequin.com/category/tags/quiet-canadian"> Quiet Canadians ~ 2008 Book Challenge Blog </a>
so open the command with <a href=" ..... copy the URL from the address bar of the Team Tag results ..... type .. "> ...next this is where you type the text that describes the link, like you team name ect. .... then you close the command with ..... </a>
you're result will be similar to the one in my signature line
hope this helps

re: tagging
I would love to be able to click on my personal tags, like you said...I've been hoping they'll get around to adding that. It would be nice to be able to click on my ratings at the end of the year to get my top books, like we could do last year. It's also fun to be able to click "fantasy" and see how many of that genre I've read, for example.
Ahhhhh, that's how to tag
I felt so green when I first started adding book reviews, struggling with how to get around the site, how to find things--it has been an interesting journey...
but one of the things I noticed was that tag line on the book review page. This is such a nice explanation, wish I had found it sooner.
At least I have the feeling that I am finally making progress...
Nancy
I'm glad that helped ....
I did another blog on how I maneuver around ... this site can be rather overwhelming at first
