Last year our Internet team read a not too shabby total of 352 books in the eHarlequin.com challenge to read 10,000 books! Of couse we don't like to discuss the fact that we were outread almost 2 to one by our New York Editor team at 581
. We comfort ourselves with the knowledge that it is their JOB is to read books (and they do an AMAZING job of that) and that if we spent our office time reading books instead of keeping this site up and running (which we do an equally amazing job of) we'd probably be neck and neck in the book department...at least that's our story and we're sticking to it
So, if you want to find us and follow along in this year's journey to read 100,000 books, you should be able to via the Internet Team tags.

Woot!
Welcome to the Challenge. I guess it will be doubly challenging for you to read while squashing all the bugs. Aren't Scott and Hubert taking part in the challenge? I'm sure techies read other things than tech manuals!

Hey, we don't read finished books in the office!!
With maybe one or two exceptions, the books we read were NOT on office time! There was an edit or two that may have slipped it, but most were read during our off hours. There's no way that we'd be able to read finished books during work time--far too many unpublished and contracted titles all around! If we had put down unpublished manuscripts or acceptance reads--well, we'd have tripled the total! :) But we played fair on that, figuring to blog only on books everyone could read.
I do admit that the NY group will often read fast--and that most of us have public transportation commutes which does give us additional time.
I'm searching for a new group to contribute here as well! I think we burned out some of our members. :)
uh oh....my bad!
Sorry Matrice I mispoke,
but you're right on the speed thing...you're like the road-runner-warrior-queen of readers! I can't wait to read your reviews this year, I love your perspective on the voices you read, and I discovered many new authors from following your suggestions.

Matrice
I'm sure the Dream Team would let you join. You'd give My Dearest Gnat a run for her money! LOL

The Internet Team's total would rise exponentially (sp?) if Matrice joined us. Even though I'm no captain, Matrice, I'll invite you to join us! We are a Harlequin team, after all...
Although it does give you more reading time, I don't envy the NYC office staff commutes at all! Sure, Toronto traffic is hell on wheels (literally!!), it's often faster than NYC. Of course that doesn't say much. But there are times I wish I could be reading instead... That's why they invented audiobooks, right?

Check out what the Internet Team is reading!
time can fly...
when you're deep in a book no matter how you got there! So I'm glad you can find way to escape through audio as well!
I think we'll try to keep our NY team together, though we might have a few switches.... But if they don't come on, we'll still have fun!
Please add me too
Hello,
I finally signed up and have actually read 2 books since. Please add me to the Internet Team. I just have to find the time to add the book reviews.
