I've been trying SOOO hard to hold off, but frustration with mine was building and Dell has been doing this 10 days of special deals thing. The last day was a pretty decent discount (I think but could be wrong. LOL I'm not exactly a computer buying whiz.) on one of the Dell Inspirons (I have an Inspiron now though mine is 5 years old). Granted, the discount was pretty much a moot point after I had to upgrade the software (only had the basics and none of the Microsoft Office software I have to have) it came with but I decided I might as well do it now when it was any kind of sale at all. And all these specials were one day only deals. And hey a few hundred bucks saved is a few hundred bucks, right?
After trying to put together the latest website update with my already slow computer running even SLOWER and having to reboot the darned thing 4 and 5 times to get it to actually work at an acceptable speed, I was pretty much at my limit. I REALLY should have waited till it died completely but... *sigh* And it is my ONLY personal computer so if I waited till it died I'd be in big trouble till a new one was ordered and arrived.
Ordered a new Dell Inspiron 1525 (what can I say I LOVE my Dells) that should arrive in about 2 weeks. So YAY I'll be back to where I like to be on the PC again. Even after all that mess with the virus and spyware problems and the money I had to spend to have it fixed a few months ago, it's not quite been back to normal. Almost, but not quite. And more and more bits of it seem to be dying off gradually so I bet by the summer at the earliest or the end of the year at the latest I'd have had to replace it anyhow.
And now Dell (and probably other brands too) do this recycling thing where they send you the information and required materials to recycle your computer for someone less fortunate to have, so I can feel like I'm doing something rewarding too. :-) And on top of that, you can have them plant a tree too with the purchase, so of course I had to do that being little miss environmental like I am. LOL

Congratulations on your new Dell. I also have a Dell. This is my first computer. I got it in 2001. I was shopping with my friend this summer and she purchased a Dell from a Keosk (sp?) whatever they are called. I was so jealous because she got this beautiful flatscreen monitor and a copier/printer combo with it. And she has not used it yet!!!! I can't believe it. Have fun when it gets here.

My family swears by Dell
My family swears by Dell and one of my computer savvy cousins swears by them too. And I loved the one I have had for a while. I have had a lot of problems with it lately, but that's not Dell problems, it was otehr stuff like internet and viruses. So I saw no reason to venture away from Dell.
I got the green color fr mine . One of the upgrade packages i could get was a printer but i didn't. I remember dad just elling me at Christmas when i was home that he made the mistake of buying his printer straight from dell and never will make that mistake again. The ink cartridges are ridiculously expensinve and you have to order them through Dell. Can't get them anywhere else. So I wasn't going that route. I have two printers at home, one for every day stuff and one strctly for printing photographs. I just hope they work with my new computer! The one printer is only 1 year to a year and a half old and has barely been used since I don't often print photos.
That's my bigest fear with going with Vista, that my peripheral stuff i alredy have one work and I'll have to spend oodles of money to upgrade all of that too. And is the biggest reson I didn't want to buy a new computer yet. So keep your fingers crossed for me everythign works!

Staples sells a lot of their printer cartridges. Ours are available there, now. Thankfully!!!
