I thought about joining the challenge of reading more than I buy this year. After calculating what I have read vs what I have, I thought it was possible. That was before I received a special sale and was tempted to order more books. I have 9 more books coming - 8 ordered and one free today. My goal last year was to order every other month from Harlequin. I'm not doing so well with that with two orders in one month.

I posted this in response to Cady's 2008 Personal Challege post.
To read more than I buy in 2008? I wonder if that is possible? Does that count books ordered that I didn't pay for? For instance, buy 2 get 1 specials or Free Book Friday. I just placed an order for 13 books and two were free. I think I will try this challenge. I have many that I could read. In addition to the 13 books I have bought 2 new books and traded books on my shelf for 6 books. So that's a total of 21 books bought this year and 12 of the 15 books I have read were purchased in 2007 or earlier.

With today's order that give me 30 books purchased in 2008, 15 books read with 12 purchased before this year.

Vicki had this as a challenge last year, I thought it was a great one as it would keep the TBR from growing too much. Didn't do so well last year, but am hoping to at least be even this year.

I'm going to try it and
I'm going to try it and maybe it will help. I have decided to trade more of my books that I don't label as keepers. That will be hard since I tend to love all my books. Trading books will help keep my cost down. Also I think I should get credit for trading books since it's new for me.

Trading Books?
Star, how will you be trading books? I would really like to to find new homes for some of mine. I use paperbackswap.com for some, but hate to put too many on there as I hate to read through really long lists of books

I have a paperback book
I have a paperback book store that sells/trades books. I have always had the problem of buying but not trading. I am committing to trading this year. My shelf space is non existent and my TBB list is ever growing. Trading will cost some. Every little bit helps. She has a date cutoff, but I'm sure what that is. I have some older books that she won't take. I have been thinking of what I can do with those. I've never looked at paperback swap.
