Ian has arrived in Seattle just in time for Easter. Initially upset over being awakened by children early in the morning, he soon changes his mind when he meets his new neighbor Sandy. While the children may find candy and colored eggs to be a treasure, Ian decides the greatest Easter Treasure is the possibility of a new love.
If readers are looking for a short sweet read that can be finished in just a few minutes, then Easter Treasure meets the desire. Ian and Sandy hit it off immediately though he is upset assuming she is married. The children are all adorable and I could easily imagine the scene for the big treasure hunt in the yard Easter morning.
The one big difficulty with stories as short as Easter Treasure however, is developing the characters enough for a reader to care about them. While I got a good impression of Sandy as a person, I didn’t get enough to form an opinion about Ian. More focus was put on Sandy’s attention to detail than Ian’s personality. We get glimpses of Sandy’s considerate nature through her thoughtfulness at making a newcomer welcome by stocking his cupboards with enough staple to get him started, and taking the time to develop a list of shopping and eating establishments for a stranger. Then there is the addition of the obvious time it took to give her sister’s children a happy Easter while babysitting them.
Easter Treasure is a short satisfactory story, but for me, it reads more like a prelude than a story of it’s own.

So is this how you'll handle the short books?
Any idea what you'll do for a "title" when you have enough to equal one book?

short books
well these are actually reviews of stories I read in December which is really why I'm not adding to the challenge blog yet. But I have about 4 or 5 i need to get logged over there. Though I guess I could tally these in since I didn't count them towards anything last year. but not sure I'll do that since i didn't actually read them after the new challenge year started.
Though this is probably how i will actually handle shorts for the challenge. I'm blog them in my personal blog as a way to keep track of how many i read. and I'll probably add counters to my bio like i did for all the harlequin lines I've read in the past so I can keep track.
Then when i have enough to equal a full book I'll blog once on the challenge blog and probably just list the titles of all the stories that are added up to make 1 book for the count, maybe with links to the blog entries if i can figure out how to do that.
Presently I can't even get my formatting in my posts and comments to work! I try changing the color of the font and it shows up here but when i post it, it defaults to the grey color. Though I am now seeing the "disable rich text" option which was NOT showing up last night or even this morning. So that may make a difference.
