January wasn't the best month for me - I am in a bit of a reading slump. However, the upside is my house is much better organized than normal and I also didn't buy as many books this month either. The downside? Well, I've been shopping too much, for things other than books! - And it's getting expensive!
I've bolded the books I rated Very Good to Excellent..,
1 - Lee, Miranda : Maddie's Love Child
2 - Balogh, Mary : The Devil's Web
3 - Gaston, Diane : The Vanishing Viscountess
4 - McCarthy, Erin : Bit the Jackpot
5 - Wood, Sara : Scarlet Lady
6 - Anderson, Natalie : All Night With The Boss
7 - St. Claire, Roxanne : His Style of Seduction
8 - Wentworth, Sally : Francesca
9 - Marton, Dana : Sheik Seduction
10 - Feehan, Christine : Safe Harbor
11 - Donald, Robyn : A Reluctant Mistress
12 - Lamb, Charlotte : Hot Blood
13 - Janzen, Tara : Crazy Sweet
14 - Nichols, Mary : An Unusual Bequest
15 - Janzen, Tara : On The Loose
16 - Marinelli, Carol : Expecting his Love-Child
17 - Radley, Tessa : Pride & A Pregnancy Secret
18 - LeClaire, Day : Dante's Blackmailed Bride
19 - Krentz, Jayne Ann : Gift of Gold
20 - Krentz, Jayne Ann : Gift of Fire
Stats:
I'm very pleased with the stats for the TBR challenge - 40% this month. I averaged about 34% in 2007. Thanks to Cady for introducing this challenge to us - my older books are being reduced, however, the spots are filling up with newer ones and in 6 months they'll be TBRs! I'm getting dizzy!
In the Books read vs. Books acquired, in the month of January:
Books read: 20
Books acquired: 18
Difference: 2

Congratulations on doing so well in your TBR challenge. And for reading so many books. I wish I had that kind of slump! :)
I didn't realize that you read Maddie's Love Child. I loved that book when I read it. It was one of the first Miranda Lee books I read.
Margie :)
HI Margie!
Yes, I've been looking for it since last summer when I read "A Daughter's Dilemma" and Maddie was introduced. I just loved her. I didn't really have a lot of hope in finding it being that it was 10 years old but on Dec 31st I just happened to visit a thrift shop and there I found it in their books. I was very pleased! So it was the 1st book of 2008 for me!
I'm a big fan of Miranda Lee's. Have you read her Hearts of Fire series? About the opal industry in Aus? Loved it!
And it was a slump for me... I usually read 30-35 books/month. But it's been good for me - I think I needed the break and grab back my life a bit. I can ignore everything and everyone if I have a book. I've also done some cleaning and sorting thru junk at home. And I've done a bit of redecorating. I'd like to do more but I'm going to be busy for 6 or 7 weeks, with really only Sundays as days off. (I'm taking a class all day Saturdays to mid-March). I might try to take a few vacation days as I can see my apt looking awful by the end of the class. I can create a mess just by standing in the middle of the room! And I'm not great at doing housework on work nights.

Congratulations on finding it. I'm glad that these books are still floating around out there. I also read the first book and had to find Maddie's story. ML is a favorite for me too.
The Hearts of Fire series, I remember that I read a few of them. I know I read the last one or I would still be looking for them.
I love to decorate. New paint and all the stuff that goes with that is always fun. Not the painting part but you know what I mean. Everything all new and sparkling. Good luck on the class you are taking. It sounds like you have been and will be one busy women.
Margie :)
Must be something about
Must be something about January, as I was in a bit of a slump as well, only 14 books when I usually am closing to 20. Good luck on your class.

TBR--The Born Readers
If you're sitting reading a book
you're not creating a mess
I got 70 of my 75 books blogged, still feeling like it's a slump because my morale is low
Yeah yeah, I know, you'd all like to have slump months where you only read 70 books
What can I say, I'm a readaholic

January stats
Hey ElleJay... looks good! And congratulations on your TBR challenge.
This is the first time that I've actually done something like that. I compared long-time-TBR's to new books read and the number was good... but no way, no how am I even going to begin with the books bought. I've had a really good time adding to my TBR! Good thing that I'm working on reading some older ones.
Of course seeing your list makes me realize that there are a LOT more books, and authors, out there that I've never read.
Wonder if I'll ever be able to catch up!?

Not likely to catch up
because how do you know where to start?
There are some undiscovered gems just from the early half of the twentieth century, if we go back farther, we haven't a hope
and even just starting in the 21st century with ebooks I'm sure I don't even know about 1% of what's published
so I read what I can, and don't worry about what I can't
