Hi everyone,
Popping in quickly to let you all know i'll be away from tonight(Friday), till late Monday evening sometime. I'm flying to Calgary to pick up my new puppy.
Also attending my very first dog show with the breeder all week-end as well, which i'm really looking forward to...but gosh i'm going to be busy from here on in. I'm sure my bed is going to feel like heaven when i get home.
I'm really excited the time is finally here, and can't wait to finally meet my puppy(we're calling her Nicki), the breeder, and all her other dogs and puppies.
Looking forward to catching up with you all when i get back.

Wjat Breed Dog is It?
Hi kathy:
How could you tell us dog lovers about the puppy and not tell us what kind of dog it is?
Please post a picture when you get back.
Any one want to guess the breed? I'm guessing
Malamute.
Thanks,
Vince

Vince,
Go to Kathy's profile and you will see the little sweetheart. We just don't know which one she is getting yet but it is one of the three puppies pictured in her avatar. I can't remember what the breed is.
Margie :)

Hi Vince, Oops...sorry to keep you in suspence...i brought home a Yorkshire Terrior(toy breed) , with breeding rights...and if the right hair coloring etc.comes in when she gets a little older...she will be entering shows in the hopes of winning her Canadian championship. The breeder is going to show her for me, as well as mentor me.
LOL at the Malamute guess! Never owned a big dog in my life! Love your guess!

Hi Margie, The dog show was awesome and i got a little immotional(which was a bit embarrassing), when the Yorkies went up...Cathy's and her friends Yorkies were sooo sweet(and tiny) prancing so proudly around the ring...i loved it.
Kathy D
For all of you interested
For all of you interested in knowing which of the three Yorkies i got...
I got the one that was shown as Goldie. (the one that was on the far right hand side). If anyone would like, i can put that threesome picture back up so you can see which one.
My current Avatar is also of my Nikki(litter name Goldie). I decided i liked this spelling(Nikki) the best for some reason.
I'll post some pics here as soon as i figure out how to resize...i just tried one but it was gigantic. lol

Hi KathyK, Thanx, i had a wonderfull time in Calgary...at the breeders surrounded by many adorable Yorkies...and at the dog show on Sat. & Sunday...i loved it all. Thanx muchly also for the birthday wishes.
Hi Katherine T, I had an awesome week-end thanx. She's a cutie and i can't wait till i learn how to post pics in this space. Thanx very much for the birthday wishes also.

Kathy
Welcome back! It sounds like you had a really good time at the dog show. I used to have three cocker spaniels. I think when you have owned a purebreed dog, you get interested in dog shows. I really enjoyed watching them on t.v. but it must be really fun in person. I no longer have my babies. They all lived to be at least 14 years old. I am having puppy withdrawl hearing about Nikki. I can't really see her too good with this picture but I looked on your profile where it is bigger and got a better look. Sweet.
Margie :)
Hi all, i still have some
Hi all, i still have some catching up to do with you all on this thread, but i've run out of time...i have to head to bed, as we're getting up very early to take Nikki to the city to get her second shot...was the only way to fit it in close enough to her due date.
I'll be on again tomorrow night to visit and catch up some more i;m hoping.
Kathy D
Hi Margie, I had an awesome
Hi Margie, I'm curious...does my above post look like it was posted tonight to you? a little before this one? Cause i posted it last night...this posts my first one today/tonight....hmmm strange.
Anyway, I had an awesome time in Calgary...only problem, i didn't get a whole lot of sleep before i left, or while i was there, so i am still sooo very tired. It'll be nice once i'm all rested and caught up on sleep.
Today we took Nikki to the city for her second shot...we couldn't be to late on that one...so rush rush some more. She didn't even feel it, which was great.
I also bought her some hair barrettes(one set has teddy bears on it) and bands and other odds and ends for her...i had lots of fun. She looks so adorable with her hair done up like a little girl. I'll be sure and post some current pics...as soon as i have time to figure out how.
I work tomorrow...so i'm thinking i should go to bed real early tonight and get a good sleep, since i missed working monday...so i'll likely be very busy tomorrow...we'll see how i do...i'm not very disapplined at going early.
Kathy D
Thanx very much for the
Thanx very much for the birthday wishes, Karen, Margie & Deb! It was a very good one for me...puppy was the greatest gift i could've bought myself.
Deb, I called puppy Nikki. Had i had a daughter, i would've named her Nicole...but since i had three sons i didn't get to use it. I thought Nikki was a great way to finally get to use the name.
And as far as your singing...you can sing all you want...it didn't bother my ears at all. ;)

Kathy
That first post looks like you did it right before the second one. How strange if you did it last night. It should be sometime after mine in the a.m. time frame. ????
That is cute that Nikki can wear hair clips! I'm looking forward to seeing more pictures.
Margie :)
Congratulations, Kathy, on

Hi Margie, I'm completely baffled, cause i entered that post Wednesday night...cause Nikki's appointment was for Thursday morning...and it's a two-hour drive to the city....i didn't get back till last night. Now how do i report that one and sound like i'm making any sense?
Kathy D
Hi Claire, Thanx for
Hi Claire, Thanx for stopping by to let me know how the fudge went over...i'm really happy to know you enjoyed it. Did you find the recipe easy enough?
Also, little Nikki is a female, and i was very lucky to get her with breeding rights. She has Canadian/ US / as well as some International champions in her bloodline on both sides. Very exciting indeed.
Kathy D
Congrats...
on the new, adorable puppy and happy belated birthday!!

And sorry I missed the post earlier! I'm finding that I'm keeping up fairly decently but there are posts still slipping through that I'm missing.

Oops, sorry about changing
Oops, sorry about changing Nikki's gender! SHE'S gorgeous.
Yes, I found the fudge recipe very easy. Perhaps a little too easy - might be tempted to make it too often. I used white chocolate which is my favourite choc and it's irresistible.

Hi Debi, No worries....i understand completely...i'm having a really hard time keeping up with this new system this year...and the time i'm spending here trying to catch up(not possible
), has completely taken away from my reading. I need to make some changes so i get a balance of both...any advice is welcome. lol
Kathy D
Lol Claire, no problem.
Lol Claire, no problem.
I'm just really excited to have her, as well, i don't have much of a thing for male dogs.
Soon she'll be even cuter, when her front hair has turned completely blonde...i can't wait to see what she's going to look like then. Much more petite and daintier that's for sure. She only weighs 2 pounds 3 ounces and her snoute isn't even one inch across, but pictures make these dogs look so much bigger than they are. She's ultra tiny.
Yum...i never thought of making it with white chocolate...i'll have to mention that to Ken. I really like white...not sure he'll feel the same though,

Fudge
Okay, Kathy, you have to share how to make the Prize Winning Fudge! Did you post it somewhere? Yum, I love fudge.
Vince, What a beautiful dog.
Margie :)
Hi Margie, I did post the
Hi Margie, I did post the Fudge recipe over on Merri's site, but i'll save you the trip and copy it again here for you...just a copy paste this time, so much easier.
-------------------------
This fudge recipe is from a wonderfull candy book i bought years ago. Do let me know how you and your family liked it once you make it. Copied directly from the book:
Prize Winning Fudge (Rich chocolate flavor is one reason this candy wins blue ribbons)
1 (12 oz.) pkg. chocolate chips (2 cups)
3 (4 oz.) bars sweet cooking chocolate
1 (7 oz.) jar marshmallow creme (about 2 cups) 4 1/2 c. sugar
1/8 tsp. salt
2 tblsp. butter or margarine
1 (14 1/2 oz.) can evaporated milk (1 2/3 c.)
2 c. chopped walnuts (we make without the nuts)
Put chocolate chips, cooking chocolate and marshmallow creme in bowl. (i use stainless steel due to really hot ingredients soon to go in there) Combine sugar, salt, butter, and evaporated milk in 3-quart heavy saucepan. Bring to boil, stirring until sugar dissolves. Boil steadily over medium heat 6 minutes (keep boiling all the time). Stir constantly to prevent scorching. Pour boiling syrup over chocolate and marshmallow creme in bowl; beat until chocolate is melted. Stir in walnuts. Pour into lightly buttered 13"x9" pan. Let cool until firm. Cut into 77 or the desired number of pieces.(We cut them alot smaller cause they're rich) When cold, pack in airtight containers and store in cold place. Makes about 5 pounds. Enjoy!

I was also wondering where you saw the pic of Vince's dog? I've looked, but i can't see a thing...or did you mean his avatar?
Kathy D
Kathy
Thank you! What kind of chocolate do you use?
I was talking about Vince's avatar. It used to be him but now it is a white dog.
Margie :)
Hi Margie, I use Baker's
Hi Margie,
I use Baker's chocolate squares(from the baking section).
I also just noticed my recipe didn't copy and paste very nicely before...so i've fixed it so it's the way it's suppose to be and much easier to read. Sorry bout that...i didn't notice...i just assumed that it copied the way i had originally typed it out. Guess i'll have to pay more attention in future.
