The Actor's Studio -- Your Ten Answers?

I love watching "Inside the Actor's Studio", and so I found these questions online and thought it would be fun to post them here and see what people had to say. They originally come from the French series, "Bouillon de Culture" hosted by Bernard Pivot, but they're the ones James Lipton asks all of his famous guests on TAS. So... give them a shot, and use brief, one-word answers as much as possible, and asterisks where necessary to avoid saying anything offensive. ;)

I *love* reading the answers -- almost as much fun as writing them, and I keep seeing people's answers and agreeing, mostly on the professions questions... there are so many things I could imagine would be wonderful to do, and so many I wouldn't -- hit me in the middle of the night last night that I've always wanted to be a television staff writer, on a popular or interesting show, but I wanted to pick something really different for my answer and have always told dh I would have thought about Quantico if that had been part of my universe back then... And FF *Big Smile* on your #10, LOL.

What do I do all day????

Hi FF--I meant full-time novelist. That's my dream career. In the meantime I write technical documentation all day and then romance novels at night.

However, if (when??!!?) this Supernatural gig comes through, I'm ditching the tech writing with no regrets. Imagine the romances I could write at night if I spent my days tying up the Winchester brothers.

Sam, thanks for encouraging me to come out to play.  I'm being a good girl and giving my answers before I read everyone else's.  Here goes:

  1. What is your favorite word? Evocative
  2. What is your least favorite word? Spiteful
  3. What turns you on creatively, spiritually or emotionally? Honesty
  4. What turns you off? Hypocrisy
  5. What is your favorite curse word? F*ck if I know! ;-)
  6. What sound or noise do you love? Cat's purr
  7. What sound or noise do you hate? A balloon popping
  8. What profession other than your own would you like to attempt?   Study handwriting for forensics, I forget what it's called. Graphologist?
  9. What profession would you not like to do?  Telemarketing 
  10. If Heaven exists, what would you like to hear God say when you arrive at the

  1. What is your favorite word?  Lithification -- try saying it.  It tickles the tongue.
  2. What is your least favorite word? No.
  3. What turns you on creatively, spiritually or emotionally? Music.  Great movies.  Well written books.  Being alone and at peace.
  4. What turns you off? Over use of the F-bomb.
  5. What is your favorite curse word?  Having just given the answer to #4, I must say that it's the F-bomb, judiciously applied.  It's important to look like you never use the word if you want to get the proper impact when you do use it. 
  6. What sound or noise do you love? Wind.  I love listening to the wind.  Drives dh crazy.
  7. What sound or noise do you hate? Nonstop  barking -- both canine and human.
  8. What profession other than your own would you like to attempt? I'm not giving up writing, but if I tried something else, it would be acting.
  9. What profession would you not like to do? Dog catcher.  Couldn't deal with sad animals.
  10. If Heaven exists, what would you like to hear God say when you arrive at the
    Pearly Gates?     "Good work.  You made them laugh."

What is your favorite word?

When (LOL Instant gratification anyone?)

What is your least favorite word?

No. 

What turns you on creatively, spiritually or emotionally?

Music.

What turns you off?

Someone doing, saying, taking advantage of others for their own good. 

What is your favorite curse word?

LOL I try HARD to keep my mouth clean (for my kids) so... Crap. ;) 

What sound or noise do you love?

A baby's laugh. 

What sound or noise do you hate?

Whining. 

What profession other than your own would you like to attempt?

Wedding/event planning. I love to go all out on parties and events and have a blast doing it. 

What profession would you not like to do?

Be an attorney. I worked as a legal secretary for years and you couldn't PAY me enough to be an attorney.

I saw one with Russel Crowe last night that was interesting -- he wasn't my favorite interview on there (that goes to Matt Damon, who was fantastic -- smart and funny, very genuine), but RC had some wonderful things to say in his interview, and his "favorite curse word" was a fun answer -- he said something like "a curse word by itself is nothing... it needs context, flavor, and you have to put a little passion into it.." and then he came up with a very creative f*** phrase that had us laughing, because dh and I do that -- it's never the word itself, but in a string of other words that sometimes, if particularly creative, will draw admiration. ;)  I just really love this show, and find, curse words aside, lots of writing advice/wisdom in the actors' views, too...

  1. What is your favorite word?  Resplendence, resilience 
  2. What is your least favorite word? Puke, belch 
  3. What turns you on creatively, spiritually or emotionally? Honesty, individuality
  4. What turns you off? Intolerance, lack of humor
  5. What is your favorite curse word? F*** (or, as my kids know it, "That really bad word Mommy uses sometimes when she's in the car and very, very angry.")
  6. What sound or noise do you love? My children's laughter, the wind in the maple trees outside my bedroom window
  7. What sound or noise do you hate? Fire alarm going off at the Fire Department across the street at 2am, the beagle knocking the trashcan to the floor
  8. What profession other than your own would you like to attempt? Radio host or kids' party planner (if the job of Johnny Depp's Pants is taken, that is...)
