Boy, did we ever dodge a bullet at our house! Given the 80 degree temps in February, the weathermen knew it was going to get ugly, and boy did it ever.
Multiple tornadoes were spotted where we live, some passing overhead while others touched down causing major damage and even taking lives. The sirens literally blared continuously from 3:30 in the afternoon until nearly 10 o'clock last night. The kids were terrified since our little town in South Dakota was ravaged by a tornado in 2004 while we huddled in the basement.
This time we were lucky. No damage to our neighborhood, and so far everyone we know is okay. But our hearts go out to those who weren't so fortunate. With a climbing death toll of 28 in Tennessee alone (I think CNN's now saying 50 total in all states affected), the night truly lived up to the National Weather Service's rare declaration of a "tornado emergency".

When I heard that Tennessee
had a number of tornadoes touch down, I immediately thought of you and Wayne (& kids). I am so glad your neighborhood did not get hit and you & the family are OK.
Take care,
Kathy

Workin' Wayne
Wayne hasn't been around much lately. He's been pulling 120-hour weeks for a major deployment of an application he developed, but he misses chatting with y'all (as he'd say).
Anyway, thanks for the thoughts. The kids were hoping their schools would get blown away (with no people inside of course), but no such luck, LOL.
Any news from others in the path of all that wicked weather?
Take care,

So glad you are all safe
Thanks for letting us know you are safe. This was a very bad storm. I'm in Charlotte, NC and we thought it would hit us hard today. Thankfully it did not. We just have some strong winds My heart goes out to everyone who lost someone in this storm.

Thankful
Thankful to hear that, so far, everyone is safe. It was a blessing the severe weather disipated before it moved into the Atlanta area.

TN Tornadoes
I'm glad to hear that you and your family are safe. Tornadoes can be really scary. Having grown up in Memphis I have experienced a few. When I heard about the latest, of course, I was on the phone to "home" to make sure that everyone was OK. They were all safe as well. My Dad said they just lost power for a while. Thank God!

glad you all safe by God's will
Is not always easy to escape a disaster and still find your feet but i guess that is why it is in the shelter of each other that we live. May God keep protecting Us. Ameen.
Emailed Wayne
Hi Jill,
I emailed Wayne to make sure you guys were okay. I hadn't been here in a couple of days so had not seen the post. I felt much better knowing you & the family were all okay. There has been some unusual weather this winter. Right now we are having glorious sunshine after what felt like weeks & weeks of rain. I think we did have something like 17 days that had some rain & some of those days it just rained, all day! Today will probably hit close to 70! For here that is not real unusual in February. It is a nice break.
So sorry to hear about your dog. How is he/she doing? Was it a stroke or something else?
Take care, happy reading,
