If you've read either or both of the first two books in The Chameleon Chronicles, you know Evie and Arch are movie fanatics. I'm currently nose-to-the-grindstone on book three and tonight in my research on 80s movies I came across this super cool piece of merchandise.
I am soooo tempted. It's from one of my all-time favorite movies. My writing room is full of eclectic stuff. This would so fit in.
You do know the movie, don't you?

Um, no?
Am I showing my lack of knowledge or what? LOL
But it really is very striking.

"You'll Shoot Your Eye Out"
KaLyKo, it just means you haven't had the pleasure of watching 'A Christmas Story". :) Or maybe you did see it, but forgot about the infamous lamp.
'A Christmas Story' is set in the midwest in the 1950s. It's about a little boy's determination to get a Red Ryder Beebee (sp?) gun for Christmas. To which every person he asks (including Santa) responds, "You'll shoot your eye out."
The movie is laugh-out-loud funny and also very sweet. I've seen it hundreds of times... thanks to TNT always running a 24 hour marathon on Christmas Eve. But it's also avail on DVD and worth watching any time of the year. :)

Thank you Beth!
... I'll definitely have to look that up. I'm always up for a great, although not especially sappy, Christmas movie!

Did you know that…
the guy who made these lamps to sell is also opening a museum in the house that the family owned in the film. I read the story in Guideposts Magazine.

Now that you mention it...
I did read that somewhere, Frenchie. But had forgotten about it until now. I'll have to google an reread. Especially touching to me is that the story takes place in my native state: Indiana. I grew up in a small town like that. Maybe even smaller. All I had to do was imagine life there a few decades earlier... ;)
