Hi,
I have a blog post that has three pages of comments. (We all posted our reading goals for the year.) Someone mentioned one of the books they read from their list and I wanted to go back in the comments to see what the title was.
Here's what I did:
1. Clicked their user name to get to their profile.
2. Clicked the correct comment in their "Recent Comments" list.
This took me to the top of the comment section for the blog post, not to the exact comment. Is this the same issue that causes this same behavior with the New Comment navigation for threads with more than one page?
Sorry if this is confusing. Thanks for your help!
Ellen
P.S. Oops. I should have put this in the Navigation thread. Sorry!

Hi Jayne,
I was wondering if it's possible to add to or switch some of the blog categories on the Blogs home page.
There are 4 categories (besides "Featured"):
Most Discussed
Most Favorited
Most Viewed
Most Recent
With the exception of Most Recent, those other categories are kind of static at this point. It's hard for a "new" blog post to crack those "Most" categories.
Would it be possible to have a "Today's Hot Blog" or something that would pull out the blog posts that are most active for that day?
The blog conversations are a ton of fun. I don't want to miss out on good exchanges while they're happening!
I've been keeping my eye on just that very thing and thinking along the same lines. It might not be something that will happen right away, but definitely something I'll propose for the next round of tweaking!

Just a quick question...Is there not a way to delete a forum post? A couple of people I know of have had duplicate posts they wanted to delete but couldn't figure out how. And I know I've posted something by accident a couple times that I wanted to delete but couldn't. Of course, in that case, the edit button is handy some but it would still be nice to be able to delete when necessary.

I think Jana's referring to the delete button that used to be beside the edit button when our posts first showed up on a thread. It was only visible for a limited amount of time, and only the one who posted could access it. No one could delete or edit someone else's post. That's something I would really like to get back. I know I wouldn't be bothering a hosty about getting rid of a duplicate post, but for some reason it happens more on the site now.
sorry about the whine.... we can't help how people enter their reviews so no more whines on that. I do however have a techie request. The page numbers 1 2 3 4 5 etc are at the bottom of the Book Challenge page. When you write a comment you either have to go back 3 or 4 pages or click on Book Challenge again and go all the way to the bottom to go to page 4 again or 5 again.
Can the techies ALSO put the page sequence at the TOP of the Book Challenge page? It would save the server from having to do all those BACKs and you can get back to the page you were perusing easier. Just a thought
Also, can they also look into adding a button at the bottom of posting or comment pages to go BACK TO TOP??

Hi Jayne ......
a few of the lines have started new Continuity series and I can't find any information on them ...... why do some new mini-series warrant a discussion and others do not? ... if a reader / shopper is not a subscriber to an imprint, how are they supposed to know about a series?
Example .... in the SSE, we have the new "Wilder Family" ... and in LIS, there is the "Revelation Reunion" ...... at least with the SSE series, the bookstore has put up the Dear Reader letters with the books .... with the LIS there is no information other than the individual book, I can't figure out how they are linked
is there not a place somewhere either in the Bookstore or here in the Community where a new mini-series could be announced .... with start date, the number of books, who the authors are, and a brief synopsis of what the series is about ....
esp. helpful would be the Dear Reader letters that the authors write to go in those books ...... the eHarl Bookstore is hit and miss on adding those to their selling pages, a major frustration for me and one I've complained about numerous times to Eleanor .... those Dear Reader letters are an important resource for readers and a valuable marketing tool for your authors
any chance on getting a special thread to announce the new mini-series within the imprints? ....

Jayne is there anyway the techs can put the counter # on the actual book reviews? .... right now you can't tell who posted review #4400 without figuring it out by counting back
it would be lovely to be able to "Congratulate" reviewers for posting milestone reviews ... I think it would be a great boost for all the Challengers ..... add a bit of excitement and commraderie
a post counter is probably just one of those things they have to switch on .... or so I would think .... just like with the time stamp

In book Reviews the Book Series box is good for the Harlequin imprints but it would be helpful if it included past imprints (Temptations, Duets, Bombshells, Silhouette Intimate Moments etc.), even though they're not "current" imprints
could we have the Harlequin Presents Extra added? .... also, one for Mills & Boon ?

Can you ask him about the bouncing-to-the-top-after-posting issue? This problem is really irritating the people who post in the Gal Pal Corral, to the point where they are not posting as much. I know resolving the problem must be complicated, or the techies would have already taken care of it, but people are starting to comment that this was done on purpose to keep the number of posts down. I know that it not true, but it gives you an idea of how annoyed people are.

Thanks for the option to See all Forum topics .... is it possible to expand that yet further, so that all the Discussion threads are visible too? ...... it would save tons of time, instead of opening each topic folder to see which discussion has the new content
If an expanded Forum topics list is not possible ... can we get an expanded list for each Forum? ..... I don't know the forum discussions that well, and it's frustrating to have to keep opening folders to find the discussion that you know is part of that Forum but you can't see under what folder it's hidden in
on the old site, we could see all the discussion topics that belonged to a Forum on one page ..... that's what I'd love to see again .... I think if you made that possible more people would find the discussions
This a great idea, Jayne.

I work in IT at a university. We're launching a new product on April 2nd specifically to avoid the "oh, they're only joking" problem.
Looking forward to widgets galore,

Browse the Book Widget
Jayne, love the new Browse the Book facility. Very cool.
Is this a widget we can use on our own websites and blogs? If so, is there a thread or blog with instructions/code or whatever is necessary to do so?

Problem Solved!
Jayne, I found your instructions on I Heart Presents, thanks, and have copied the code for Tycoon's One-Night Revenge to my blog and am about to do the same in several other places. Coolio.

Thanks Bronwyn, if you check the FAQ page, I've added instructions for adding the book widget to profile pages here in Community and using the code in other external places.

I had a meeting with Scott today with my BIG list of updates and enhancements....and a generous helping of Chinese food. You can expect those additions to the drop down menus shortly

Can you ask him about the
Can you ask him about the bouncing-to-the-top-after-posting issue?
This problem is really irritating the people who post in the Gal Pal Corral, to the point where they are not posting as much. I know resolving the problem must be complicated, or the techies would have already taken care of it, but people are starting to comment that this was done on purpose to keep the number of posts down.
I know that it not true, but it gives you an idea of how annoyed people are.

Forum .... listings
Hi Jayne ...
Thanks for the option to See all Forum topics .... is it possible to expand that yet further, so that all the Discussion threads are visible too? ...... it would save tons of time, instead of opening each topic folder to see which discussion has the new content
thanks!

More .... Re: Forum .... listings
Hi Jayne
If an expanded Forum topics list is not possible ... can we get an expanded list for each Forum? ..... I don't know the forum discussions that well, and it's frustrating to have to keep opening folders to find the discussion that you know is part of that Forum but you can't see under what folder it's hidden in
on the old site, we could see all the discussion topics that belonged to a Forum on one page ..... that's what I'd love to see again .... I think if you made that possible more people would find the discussions
thanks!
