Well now,  I found this thread.  Trying to get to the daily discussion , but my screen is bouncing around.  Not sure what is going on, but will try again later.

How about I help you out?

The link to it is messed up on the read for some reason, but here's a good link to that discussion.

Umm… Dream… that second link takes me to Megan Hart's SPICE read, which is about as far from Love Inspired as you can get.

Mothers

I hate the way his mother is such a snob.  I think I'm going to have to wait until the story has been told entirely to read it, since drips and drops will be torture.

Thanks Dream  Good thing I

Thanks DreamSmile  Good thing I had bookmarked this page because the link at teh bottom of the chapter doesn't work!

Wonder if Lanna will show up for the party.  I don't like his snobby mother either.  Wonder if she had something to do with his letters not getting to Lanna

Exactly the same thought I

Exactly the same thought I had Papaya!

Waving Dream!

This is such a sweet story!

I am enjoying this so much!  I agree with Papaya and Sally.  I think his mother had something to do with the letters.  Of course, they did have to move, too, so maybe that played a role also.

Hugs,
April

Whoa, what a hook!

Am I just getting cynical in my old age, or does anyone else think his mother will do something mean because of the ball? I wonder what she has against Lanna, but it's pretty clear she's not so innocently steering Joe away.

FF, no worries, we're all in this together, trying to help each other out. Smile

Great to see you, Sally and April! How's life?

Definitely agree on the letters.

I agree... Mom's not innocent!

I agree...  Mom's not innocent!  She's deviously plotting against Lanna and Joe.  I hope he's smart enough to ignore her attempts.

Dream, things are good.  Busy as always, but good.  I start my 2nd semester of school Monday.  So glad this is only a 1 year program!!!!  I never thought I'd go back after I graduated from UT-K, but I guess it's another case of 'never say never'!  How are things with you and yours?

Hugs,
April

At the end of the day, it's night.

Busy, busy!

You know me, can't sit still if I tried. Tax season is starting, so they're keeping me busy with that. We bought a new house this summer, and we're still unpacking. Kiddos are growing like crazy, but they have a tendency to do that. Smile

School sounds like fun, what are you studying?

School

The course is for sleep study technologist.  It's been rough, doing that full time and werking part time.  I start clinicals in mid-March, which makes me a wee bit nervous.

Glad to hear everything is going well your way!

This is the first book I've read in serial format!

This is the first book I've read in serial format! I can't decide if I like it or not. The waiting... the wondering... but think how it prolongs the enjoyment!

Last year when I read A Tale of Two Cities and learned that it was originally published in serial format, I happily envisioned families sitting around of an evening eagerly listening to the book as it was read out loud. Then the commotion in the community during the week as all spectulated on what would happen next to their favorite characters. Well, now I get a little better glimpse of the TORTURE those poor people had to live through waiting for the next installemnt!

I agree the mother is Nasty! How can someone with a nasty mother turn out a gentleman? Perhaps we need to see something of the father to understand. Hmmm...

Do you think she will get to the ball? What will she wear? Hmmm...

Friday? I have to wait until Friday? (sigh)

Blessings,

Jillian Hart

I love Jillian Hart's Historicals, so I'm really looking forward to getting her LI Historical.  I find myself getting emotionally invested in her characters and her books easily become keepers.

This online read is no exception.  I hate the wait between chapters, but I'm loving the story.  Do you think the author will join us here, Dreamy?

Marcy

I can always check...

I'm nice that way. Innocent I'll email her and see if I can coax her this way.

For the record, I've decided weeklies are my least favorite online read. You have to wait too long for the next installment. It's killing me, I tell you, killing me!

Nice Dreamy

You're always nice, Dreamy.  It's part of why you're so beloved around here.

I'm with you on the weeklies

I'm with you on the weeklies Dream.  We have to wait to long and I'm not the most patient of peopleEmbarassed

Thanks, Dream.

Hi everyone.  Dream was kind enough to ask me to drop by.  I am so glad to be here.  You all have been so nice with your comments about Lanna's story.  : )

This is going too well

for sucha nearly point in the story.  My heart is hurting.  What will that nasty mother do?

I agree FF, things are going to well!  Seems like something is going to happen at this ball or because of this ball.  The ladies are snobbing her.  Wonder if the mother is bad mouthing her.   We're gonna have to wait all the way to next Friday to find out!Undecided

Big Announcement

I'm getting the awful feeling that the Mother is going to use the party as a time to announce to everyone the "engagement" as things are going too smoothly right now.  Wink

i think maybe the mean ole

i think maybe the mean ole mother will say something to lanna and then she leave without any explanation to joe...then we'll have to wait another 4 chapters to see that resolved :)

I guess he is more comfortable with

telling her than she is with telling him.  Now for the BBM, when the nasty mother tries to ruin everything.

I can understand not

I can understand not wanting to be hurt... glad he was more forthright with her...they need to communicate and find out why they never communicated whiole separated...  1882, no phones, no email, really slow mail... but we know he wrote to her and she never got the letters, neither of them know that yet...  I"ll bet BBM had something to do with the miscommunication

Wonder what she will do this time around...

This is getting better and better...

This is a great story...it really draws me into it but it frustrates me that I have to wait so long for another chapter.

I really like how sweet and romantic Joe is turning out to be.  Who wouldn't swoon over his last line??  I think if this were a regular novel I'd be a teary mess...Cry

Well definitely check out Jill's book then

Because it's amazing. The hero in Homespun Bride is swoon worthy and had me all sorts of teary-eyed. (Plus, you get to see Lanna and Joe again)

My immediate reaction was this would never work

who would want her for a mother-in-law?

I mean I wouldn't marry the guy even if you paid me a million dollars

so unless Jillian is going to kill off the MIL (and this is LI Historical, not LI Suspense Undecided) I can't buy the HEA Frown

Hugs

Sadhbh

Seems like the witch (with a

Seems like the witch (with a bWink) is at it again!  Bet she got the dad to object to Joe leaving.  Hope he stands his ground.  Wonder if Joe's parents had more to do with Lanna's family losing their home and farm.   hmmmmmm, gonna have to go back and reread the chapters.  It seems like forever between chapters...I am to impatient for these once a week reads..Embarassed

Joe's parent's are…

a couple of b-words alright. I too hope he stands his ground. But since we still have 3 chapters, I think it's not very likely that this will be resolved easily. *sigh*

UGH!!!!

I REALLY didn't want Joe's dad to be as big a jerk as his mom, but I guess I don't get my way.  Wink  Sometimes it's amazing how kids turn out despite their parents.

Another great chapter, Jillian!  Can't believe we have to wait another week....  Cry

Hugs,
April

At the end of the day, it's night.

Love your stories JILLIAN

Great read Jillian. I've read some of your romances and everytime it get's better.  Like everybody else...who would want a MIL like that snoby woman...thou this story reminds me a little of Mother in Law with Jennifer Lopez (movie) thou I know it is not the same context...maybe at the end she'll finish accepting his son's decision.

Now don't take me wrong...but the MIL, in her own twisted way, is doing what she thinks its best for her son.  It is in Joe's hands to let his family know what he really wants in life...

Cheers everyone! Rabel

Only two more chapters

The next chapter must have the Big Black Moment.  I'm trembling.

I guess the dad is just is

I guess the dad is just is as much an a-hole as the mother is a witch with a b!  I'm glad Joe stood his ground.

I bet when he get's home they hassle him. Wonder what they are going to do to Lanna. Bet she gets fired from her job!

Can't help but agree with you...

Papaya...the father is such an a**hole (sorry about my french Yell, but it's what comes to my mind when thinking about it Laughing) and the mother too.  I loved that Joe did stood his ground...he's like the knight in shining armor that every women dream of, and that are practically extinct nowadays :-)

It's almost a given that she's going to get fired, but will Joe permit it? He knows she needs the job, can't wait to see how this whole situation enfolds.  Just wish tomorrow was friday too Laughing

 Cheers everyone, Rabel

SOOOOOOOOO Loving This!!!!

*sigh*  I really love Joe.  He's a TRUE man.  His father is a jerkwad and I won't even start on his mother.  I think you all have nailed her personality.  Laughing

Not wanting to see the black moment, but I guess we need it to get the HEA.  And I REALLY can't wait for the HEA!!!!!

Another brilliant chapter, Jillian!

Hugs,
April

At the end of the day, it's night.

Joe is such a hero!

Okay, I'm doing major sighing here. His parents are definitely jerks, but I really love how he's standing up to them.

Thanks

Thanks for all your kind words.  I'm glad you all are enjoying the story.  I need to apologize for the next chapter.  <g>  It's going to get worse.  I'm sorry!

Jill Smile

Jill...

I think we all expect it to 'get worse' before it 'gets better'.  As long as it 'gets better', I think you'll be OK.  WinkLaughing

Hugs,
April

At the end of the day, it's night.

Thanks, April

As a reader, I love black moments.  As a writer, I would rather avoid them.  <g>

 Jill

Black moments

Jill, I fear I'm the opposite. I love putting people through the torture. I know the books and authors I can trust to give me a happy ending, so as long as I know that, I'll stay with them through the bad times.

Hey Jill,  I expect the

Hey Jill,  I expect the "shirt" to hit the fan in the next chapterWink  and a healing and wrapping up to the HEA in the last chapter.   I like the black moments then the working through it to the HEASmile

Dream and Papaya

You are both so right.  The HEA has got to be earned, and the black moment is that point of change.

But when I get there as a writer, I want to protect my poor characters from things getting worse! <G>  I typed Lanna's black moment with blurry eyes.

 Jill

Now THAT makes me happy

If the author cries while writing it, then it's got to be good!

An Enduring Love

This is the first story I have read by Jillian Hart. And it wont be the last.....

I think that Sally may be right.... I think that Joe's Mom is just mean enough to hurt Lanna. I wish that Joe's Dad was not such a Weenie. Maybe if we are lucky enough he might stand up to his wife... One could only hope!!

Jillian --Maybe I am missing something but why does Joe's Mom dislike Lanna so much?

*sigh*

I wish Lanna would have a little faith in Joe.  She immediately jumped to the conclusion that he would fall in with his mother, even though she knows his mother is a witch and that Joe is not.  It makes me soooooo frustrated when heroines don't trust the heros that deserve trust!

I agree FF.  For a minute

I agree FF.  For a minute there I thought she would have a little backbone, but I guess she's been beaten down over time.

Backbone

Well said Fake Frenchie.

She needs to have more faith in him and not buy into his Moms garbage. She fell for it once she shouldn't again.

I agree Papaya that she should have had backbone.

Chapter 7

I guess Chapter 7 anwsered my question...Laughing

Wow

I wish we could fast foward the week to next friday. This the greatest online read I have read yet. L should at least give Joe a little credit, huh. I mean maybe he had pitty on his face because he was ashamed of his motherEmbarassed. Anyway, I will be hoping and waiting for next week.

May God bless ya'll!!!
