I've been posting this headline entirely too much lately. It saddens me to report that we had to let Kokomo go today. After many ups and downs and a week and a half in the animal hospital, this afternoon we found her suffering for the first time. It was as if she had given up what fight she had left in her. Her eyes looked horrible, and she couldn't even turn to us when we called her name.
It was with heavy hearts that we helped her cross the Rainbow Bridge. Kokomo is no longer sick or in pain, but our house--and our hearts--are definitely emptier without her.
Take care,
Jill Freeze

Sending sympathy
Jill I just wanted to send you hugs of sympathy and understanding. I am so so sorry about Komoko Specially after losing Pixel earlier this year. I know so much of what you are going through as I have had to make this hardest and yet most loving of decisions for my two eldest gentleman cats in the last three months.
I hope that knowing that you helped your beuatiful friend over the Rainbow Bridge where there is no more pain or illness will help you live with the hole she and Pixel have left in your lives. I'm lucky because my DH gave me a female Maine Coon kitten for Christmas and she is helping fill those empty spaces here. She doesn't replace Bob and Spiffy but she is a joy to have in our lives
Thinking of you

Okay, this year was supposed to be better than the last. (I know, I'm saying that about my own life right now, too).
I'm so sorry the bumps seem to keep coming along. Here's hoping spring brings new beginnings for everyone.

Kate and the New Kitten
I had hoped no one else ever had to go through a double pet loss in such quick succession... I'm so sorry, Kate. I'm glad you've got a new young family member to share your love with.
We have more kitties in our household, but I keep freaking out that they're all older and that I'll find myself in this spot again entirely too soon (of course ANY time is too soon, but...). I have this feeling a rescue cat (all our furry friends were rescues except for Kokomo) will find her way into our hearts in a few months.
Hugs to you and your new kitten, Kate. I hope he's letting you sleep and not spending the entire night attacking your feet

RE: ANOTHER FRIEND LOST
There is a saying by many at the Rainbow's Bridge (they were/are immensly helpful to me after the death of me 12-year old baby Billy Ray). "Our fur babies don't need to live as long as we do, for they learn to love sooner than we do." Take Care.

I am so sorry to hear of your loss. My DH and I have had many rescue animals over the course of our marriage--losses have occured along the way. It never really gets any easier, but I did take comfort from visiting the rainbow bridge website. The picture of your Kokomo reflects the gentleness of her spirit.

Jill, my heart goes out to you and your family...
... pets are far more than just an animal that lives with us. They are part of the family with their own place in our hearts.
I know that your hearts are heavy and filled with sadness at this time and I pray that your memories will help you through the worst of it.
Hugs,
Kathy

Thanks Jill, but no,
Thanks Jill, but no, nothing as bad as losing loved ones. Just the regular stresses of life, particularly when one is a parent. (When will school be out??).

You're All are So Sweet...
...I think I'm gonna start crying again. I can't bring myself to visit the Rainbow Bridge site just yet, but I'm sure I will. Some of the sentiments you've all shared are proof of the amazing capacity to love--and be loved by--our incredibly sweet four-legged friends.
Lori, you have to be the only mom on this planet who actually wants school to be OUT, LOL!!!!! I keep wishing they'd make our go year 'round since all they seem to be able to do is fight.
Take care,
