Submission Care Group 2

If you sell a manuscript, please email Dee at laideebug@gmail.com

Are you a writer who is sending out queries and synopsis to HARLEQUIN / SILHOUETTE left and right, hoping and praying that someone will request your work for consideration and hopefully publication? Are you going crazy with the interminable wait? Most importantly, is your mailman afraid to come all the way to the front door?

If so, please tell us the following:

• Date you submitted:
• To whom you submitted:
• How long you've been waiting:
• Full, partial or query letter:

As extra incentive, we congratulate ourselves on each hard earned query send off and month waited with these Cyber Rewards.

Please keep us updated as to your progress.

New Room, new favourite?

I think whenever a new thread comes online, we have to favourite it again. Makes sense as the url will be different, but it is a trifle disconcerting.

Anyway, here's hoping that this new thread means good news for someone.

Archiving

When the thread gets archived you do lose it from your favourites.

I missed the last 100 or so post of the last subcare, with work, getting sick and trying to be a wife and mother my inet time was limited.  Not to mention my writing time grrrr

But hubby has gone away so that's one less child I have to worry about Wink Hopefully I'll have more writing time, that is if the kids co-operate and Miss Procrastination stays away!!

Hugs to all those who need it and Hi 5's for those who need it too!!

It got ate

I posted and it went to a blank 'DONE' page. Here's hoping someone sold.

HAPPY TO BE HERE

I got worried too.  I haven't posted in awhile... busy writing :)  But couldn't find the group.  I got my first judging back on a contest I'd entered and I was happy!  Just to have the comments was priceless!  YEAH!  I submitted on the 15th to Harlequin Mills & Boon.  Fingers crossed.  I think I've entered 5 more contests with 2 manuscripts.  Patting self on back!  I wrote 30 pages yesterday and 25+ so far today.  Hoping 08 is my year!!!  Glad I found you all again!  Talk to you soon

HOW many pages?

My, you're flying, Bernadette Marie!  Oh for such luck.  I'm on my final chapter and it's gone sticky on me.  Right now I'd count six pages a major miracle - but I do write 'finished' and not 'first draft'.

Nice to see everyone again.

Cheers,

Kris.

Cyber Rewards

Hello! I was trying to find out what reward I got for two months at M&B and I realised that my link doesn't take me to them Frown I think in the last thread it was one of the first posts. Can anyone help?

Phew!

I've not posted to this thread (until now), but have been a frequent lurker.

I too received the 'Access Denied' message and I was beginning to wonder whether somebody had caught me procrastinating instead of writing.Wink

So relieved I'm not the only one!

Best wishes to everybody who's waiting to hear back on a submission. I feel like a fraud because I haven't actually submitted yet - unless the Instant Seduction contest counts?Undecided

The Joys of Lurkdom

Don't worry, Sue, I lurk a lot, too.   But I love subcare even if I don't post as much as I should.  Whether you have something submitted or not it's a wonderful place to pick up tips, which I'm sure you've already figured out.

Dee, how much longer before the Q&A archives are restored?  Or is that something that's still up in the air?  Just wondering.  Thanks!

Sandy

Cyber Rewards

Biddy --

The rewards are based on the birth stones for the various months as far as I can recall. So month 1 was garnet. Month 5 is emerald, month 7 is ruby. month 12 is zircon. I think month 2 is amethyst.

I hope this helps.

medical questions

This is kind of off topic, so sorry everyone but I've been all over the internet and still can't find the answer I'm looking for.

I know eharl used to have a medical questions thread but I can't find it.  Does it still exist or did I miss it somewhere?  My question is about multiple births.  Does anyone know where I ask such a question?

Thanks :)

Sandy Sue if you go to the forums and click on Simply Series it will take you to the Harlequin Medical. Click on that and it will take you to the Ask Dr Olivia board. I don't know if there are any archived discussions but you can ask your question there.

Hope that helps.

Congrats Donna!

on #5! Weeeee

Thanks Sue. I think I got in around 4 pages today between feeding a 3 yo, feeding a 5 mo, cuddling each as needed, and threatening 3 yo as needed for getting into black fingernail polish, creamcheese crackers squished in hands, locking front door... Yeesh! and I was watching her within a few feet each incident. She's very sneaky to say the least so writing was limited to a minimum in order to keep chaos away.

Good luck to all subbers and waiters

Or you can ask me...

I'm a multiple Mom and I did a gangload of research (in sheer terror of what might---and generally DID--happen). Always glad to horrify, lol.

Ach, sorry about the rewards post. I forgot I'd have to transfer that. I'll grab and repost and see if I can link. Cross your fingers. The thread had to be archived by unpublishing. We're looking for a better way, but that's what we got at the moment.

Q&As--that's still being worked out. I'm hoping to get them back. If it's any consolation, the next two months are going to be FULL of Q&As in the "Get Your House In Order" folder here on Write Stuff. We're getting the Spice Editor, the Americans editor, a special interview with Brenda Chin for next month. Even more is coming in April.

Just wait til we get ready for summer!

DeLurking

Hi everyone,

Since people seem to be coming out of the woodwork, I thought I might, too. I have been lurking for a while but I think it might be time to join in the fun. ;)

'Prepublished, but working to change that' (I think that's Jodi's quote - I love it!!). Been thinking about becomeing a writer forever, but finally got serious in Dec 2006. So far I have only submitted to the instant seduction contest (have since finished the full ms), but I am currently working on a paranormal for nocturne (about 1/3 the way done) and have ideas for about a dozen more books. Can't seem to get them on paper fast enough.

My strategy is to try a little bit of all genres until I can find my fit, and to always have something "out there", whether in a contest or submitted to an agent or publisher. Can't get published if you don't submit, right?? So, my personal goal right now is to finish up and submit my paranormal before the winners of the instant seduction contest are announced.

So, Sue, you are in good company. The only thing I have out is in the contest, too. Smile

Congrats, Donna, on book five - what a huge accomplishment!

Michelle - Thanks for the advice/blog yesterday -  about reading romance while writing it. Thanks also for the idea of writing a synopsis about each book you read. Great idea. I have been doing chapter by chapter summaries so I can get a better understanding of character development. Maybe I should think about writing a synopsis, too.

Natalie - Read your book to prepare for the instant seduction contest - good read. I always love openings with mistaken identity - not really sure why I like it so much, but I do. I guess I love it when people realize they behaved like idiots. Tongue out It's one of my favorite types of plot devices.  Just finished a book by Nicholas Sparks and he had used the same device in his opening chapters. Can hardly wait for your next one!

SueB

Black polish- guess we have a goth in the making? Or it could be that's the only polish dd left sitting after last use. fingers crossed that's it

Hoping to get a lot more pages done today. I'm not sure how many words I actually got in yesterday since I didn't remember to chk wc until after I was done writing new stuff but I have a general idea and a page # to go by for that guess. I tend to write first layer as I write instead of a general rough draft so it takes me a little longer to get a chapter written.

Hugs and ^5 to anyone I miss. Darn not being able to read back. But I've had enough caffeine to remember some of it at least.

Wooo Dee on getting the rewards back up and Sue's diamond! I can't wait for all the Q&As planned here!

Hi everyone, Coming out

Hi everyone,

Coming out of lurkdom for the first time since the changeover.  I'm not sure if I'm supposed to collect my gold chain now for a full request.  I sent it off about half an hour ago.  Not sure what I should get now, if anything, other than the bucket.

I can't remember everything, so rather than leave out someone, I'll just give blanket hugs and hi fives.  Welcome to all the newbies.  Subcare is the place to be.

yay Kathleen!

Congrats on getting the full out there!

And Buy Nell's book.  Sending "OMG stop this woman's torture" vibes right now.

Lisa, my working title was The Cowboy's Princess.  So yep, you get another cowboy with a dash of royalty sprinkled in.  I cried buckets writing the ending of this book.  So to put that in perspective, me crying buckets hopefully will bring a lump to the reader's throat.

I think I might have channelled Michelle for a moment, that sounds just like something she'd say.  :-)
